베드로전서 4장

1 그렇다면 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 육체로 수난을 겪으셨으므로, 너희 자신도 이와 같이 같은 생각으로 무장할지니, 육체로 고통받은 자는 죄를 중단하였기 때문이라.

1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

2 이는 그가 더 이상 그의 육체 안에 있는 자신의 남은 시간을 사람들의 정욕들에 따라 살지 아니하고 다만 하나님의 뜻에 따라 살게 하려 함이라.

2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

3 우리가 음탕함과 정욕들과 폭음과 유흥들과 향연들과 가증한 우상숭배들 가운데 살아갔을 때 이방인들의 뜻을 이룬 것은 우리 인생의 지나간 시간으로 우리에게 족하도다.

3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4 이 점에서 그들은 너희가 자신들과 함께 그토록 과도한 방탕으로 치닫지 아니하는 것을 이상하게 생각하며 너희에 관하여 악하게 말하느니라.

4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

5 그들은 산 자들과 죽은 자들을 곧 심판하실 그분께 회계 보고해야 하리라.

5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6 이는 이런 까닭에 복음이 죽은 자들에게도 선포되었기 때문이니, 그들이 육체 안에서는 사람들을 따라 심판을 받으나 영 안에서는 하나님을 따라 살게 하려 함이라.

6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

7 그러나 모든 것들의 끝이 가깝도다. 그러므로 너희는 정신을 차리고 기도에 깨어 있으라.

7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

8 그리고 무엇보다 너희들 가운데서 성도의 사랑을 뜨겁게 품으라. 이는 성도의 사랑이 허다한 죄들을 덮을 것이기 때문이라.

8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

9 원한을 품지 말고 서로 환대하라.

9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10 하나님의 다양한 은혜를 맡은 선한 청지기들로서 각인이 은사를 받은 대로 그처럼 서로를 그 은사로 섬기라.

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 만일 어떤 사람이 말하거든, 그는 하나님의 신탁의 말씀들같이 말할지니라. 만일 어떤 사람이 섬기거든, 그는 하나님께서 주시는 기량에서 나온 것같이 그것을 할지니라. 이는 하나님께서 모든 것들 안에서 예수 그리스도를 통하여 영화롭게 되시도록 하려 함이니, 그분께 찬송과 통치권이 영원무궁토록 있기를 바라노라. 아멘.

11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12 사랑받는 자들아, 너희를 정련하기 위한 불의 시련에 관하여는 마치 어떤 이상한 일이 너희에게 일어났다는 듯이 그것을 이상하게 생각하지 말라.

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13 오히려 너희가 그리스도의 수난들에 동참자들이 되었다는 점에서 크게 기뻐하라. 이는 그분의 영광이 드러날 때 너희 또한 지극히 즐거워함으로 반가워하게 하려는 것이라.

13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14 만일 너희가 그리스도의 이름을 위하여 비방을 받는다면 너희는 행복하니라. 이는 영광의 영, 곧 하나님의 영께서 너희 위에서 안식하시기 때문이라. 그들 편에서는 그분께서 악담을 들으시나 너희 편에서는 그분께서 영화롭게 되시느니라.

14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

15 그러나 너희 중 아무도 살인자로서나, 도둑으로서나, 행악자로서나, 다른 사람들의 사안들에 참견하는 자로서 고통받지 않게 하라.

15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

16 그럼에도 누구든 그리스도인으로서 고통받는다면 그는 부끄러워하지 말지니라. 오히려 그는 이 일로 인하여 하나님을 영화롭게 할지니라.

16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17 이는 하나님의 집에서 심판을 시작해야만 하는 그때가 임하였기 때문이니, 만일 그것이 우리에게서 먼저 시작한다면 하나님의 복음에 순종하지 아니하는 자들의 끝은 어떻게 되겠느냐?

17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

18 그리고 만일 의로운 자가 겨우 구원을 받는다면 불경건한 자들과 죄인들은 어디에서 나타나겠느냐?

18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19 이러한 이유로 하나님의 뜻에 따라 고통받는 자들은 잘 행하면서 그분께, 곧 신실하신 창조주께 자신들의 혼들을 지키시도록 맡길지니라.

19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
