요한복음 1장

1 태초에 말씀이 계셨고, 그 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니, 그 말씀은 하나님이셨느니라.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 바로 그 말씀이 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨느니라.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 그분에 의하여 모든 것들이 지음받았으니, 지음받은 어떤 것도 그분 없이 지음받지 아니하였더라.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 그분 안에 생명이 있었으니, 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이었더라.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 그리하여 그 빛이 어둠 속을 비추었는데 어둠은 그것을 깨닫지 못하였더라.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6 ¶ 하나님께로부터 보내심을 받은 사람이 있었으니, 그의 이름은 요한이었더라.

6 ¶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 바로 그가 빛에 관하여 증거하기 위해 한 증인으로 왔으니, 그를 통하여 모든 사람들이 믿게 하려 함이라.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 그는 그 빛이 아니었으나 그 빛에 관하여 증거하라고 보내심을 받은 자였더라.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9 그 빛은 참된 빛이었으니, 그것은 세상으로 들어오는 모든 사람에게 저마다 빛을 주느니라.

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 그분께서 세상에 계셨고 세상은 그분에 의하여 지음 받았으나 세상이 그분을 몰랐더라.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 그분께서 자기 자신의 백성에게 오셨으나 그분 자신의 백성은 그분을 받아들이지 아니하였더라.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 그러나 그분께서는 그분을 받아들인 자들에게 다 하나님의 아들들이 되는 권능을 주셨으니, 곧 그분의 이름을 믿는 자들에게니라.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 그들은 혈통으로 태어난 것도 아니요, 육신의 뜻에서 태어난 것도 아니며, 사람의 뜻에서 태어난 것도 아니니, 오직 하나님께로부터 태어났느니라.

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 그런즉 그 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 지내셨으니, (우리가 그분의 영광을 보았는데 아버지의 독생자로서의 영광이라.) 은혜와 진리가 충만하였더라.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

15 ¶ 요한이 그분을 증거하고 외치며 말하기를, “이분이 내가 말한 그분이시니, 내 뒤에 오시는 분은 나보다 우선되시느니라. 이는 그분께서 나보다 먼저 계셨기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

15 ¶ John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

16 그리고 그분의 충만하심에서 우리 모두가 받았으니, 은혜에 은혜니라.

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

17 이는 율법은 모세에 의하여 주어졌으나 은혜와 진리는 예수 그리스도에 의하여 왔기 때문이라.

17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

18 어느 때나 하나님을 본 사람은 아무도 없으나 아버지의 품 안에 계시는 독생자, 곧 그분께서 아버지를 분명하게 밝히셨느니라.

18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

19 ¶ 그리고 이것은 요한에 관한 기록이니, 유대인들이 제사장들과 레위인들을 예루살렘으로부터 보내어 그에게 묻기를, “너는 누구냐?” 하였을 때라.

19 ¶ And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

20 이에 그가 시인하고 부인하지 아니하였으니, 다만 “나는 그리스도가 아니니라.” 하고 시인하였더라.

20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

21 그러자 그들이 그에게 묻기를, “그렇다면 무엇이냐? 네가 엘리-야냐?” 하였더라. 이에 그가 말하기를, “나는 아니니라.” 하니, “네가 그 예언자냐?” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 “아니니라.” 하고 대답하였더라.

21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

22 그때 그들이 그에게 말하기를, “너는 누구냐? 우리가 우리를 보낸 자들에게 대답할 수 있게 하라. 너는 너 자신에 관하여 무엇이라 말하느냐?” 하였더라.

22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

23 그가 말하기를, “나는 예언자 이사-야가 말한 대로 ‘주의 길을 곧게 하라.’라고 광야 가운데서 외치는 이의 음성이라.” 하였더라.

23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

24 그리고 보냄을 받은 자들은 바리새파 사람들에게서 온 자들이었더라.

24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

25 이어서 그들이 그에게 묻고 또 그에게 말하기를, “네가 그 그리스도도 아니요, 엘리-야도 아니요, 그 예언자도 아니라면 그런즉 어찌하여 네가 침례를 주느냐?” 하였더라.

25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

26 요한이 그들에게 대답하며 이같이 말하였더라. “나는 물로 침례를 주나 너희가 모르는 한 분이 너희 가운데 서 계시는도다.

26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

27 내 뒤에 오시는 분은 나보다 우선되시는 그분이시라. 나는 그분의 신발 끈을 풀 자격도 없느니라.”

27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

28 이런 일들은 요르단 너머인 베다바라에서 행해졌는데 그곳은 요한이 침례를 주던 곳이었더라.

28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 ¶ 다음 날 요한이 자신에게 오시는 예수님을 보며 이같이 말하니라. “세상 죄를 제거하시는 하나님의 어린양을 보라.

29 ¶ The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

30 이분은 내가 말하기를, ‘나보다 우선되시는 사람이 내 뒤에 오시는도다. 이는 그분께서 나보다 먼저 계셨기 때문이라.’ 한 그분이시라.

30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

31 그런즉 나는 그분을 몰랐으나 그분께서 이스라엘에게 명백히 나타나셔야 하므로 내가 와서 물로 침례를 주는도다.”

31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32 그리고 요한이 확증하며 이같이 말하였더라. “내가 비둘기같이 하늘로부터 내려오시는 성령과 그 영이 그분 위에 거하신 것을 보았노라.

32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

33 또한 나는 그분을 몰랐으나 물로 침례를 주라고 나를 보내신 분, 바로 그분께서 나에게 말씀하시기를, ‘그의 위로 내려와서 그의 위에 머무는 성령을 네가 보리니, 바로 그가 성령으로 침례를 주는 자라.’ 하셨느니라.

33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

34 그리하여 나는 이분이 하나님의 아들이심을 보았고 또 확증하였느니라.”

34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

35 ¶ 또다시 다음 날, 요한과 그의 제자 두 명이 서 있었는데

35 ¶ Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

36 예수님께서 거니시던 동안 그분을 바라보며 그가 말하기를, “하나님의 어린양을 보라!” 하니라.

36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

37 그러자 그가 말하는 것을 그 두 제자가 들었는데, 그들이 예수님을 따랐더라.

37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

38 그때 예수님께서 돌이키시어 따라오는 자들을 보고 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “너희가 무엇을 찾느냐?” 하시니라. 그들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “랍비여, (그것은 말하자면, ‘스승님’이라고 해석되느니라.) 당신께서는 어디에 거하시나이까?” 하였더라.

38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

39 그분께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “와서 보라.” 하셨느니라. 그들이 가서 그분께서 지내시는 곳을 보았고, 그날 그분과 함께 거하였더라. 이는 그때가 제십시경이었기 때문이라.

39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

40 요한이 언급한 것을 듣고 그분을 따른 두 명 중 한 명은 시몬 베드로의 형제인 안드레였더라.

40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

41 그는 먼저 자기 친형제인 시몬을 찾아 그에게 말하기를, “우리가 메시야¹를 발견하였도다.” 하니, 메시야는 그리스도라고 해석되느니라.

41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

42 그리고 안드레가 베드로를 예수님께로 데려왔더라. 그리하여 예수님께서 그를 보셨을 때 친히 말씀하시기를, “너는 요-나의 아들 시몬이라. 너는 게바라고 불리리라.” 하셨느니라. 게바는 해석하면 ‘돌’이라.

42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

43 ¶ 이튿날 예수님께서 갈릴리로 출발하시려다 빌립을 발견하시고 그에게 말씀하시기를, “나를 따르라.” 하시니라.

43 ¶ The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

44 이때 빌립은, 안드레와 베드로의 도시인 벧새다 출신이었더라.

44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

45 빌립은 나다나엘을 찾아서 그에게 말하기를, “모세가 율법 안에 기록하고 예언자들이 기록한 그분을 우리가 발견하였으니, 요셉의 아들이신 나사렛 예수님이시라.” 하니라.

45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

46 그러자 나다나엘이 그에게 말하기를, “나사렛에서 어떤 좋은 것이 나올 수 있겠느냐?” 하였더라. 빌립이 그에게 말하기를, “와서 보라.” 하였더라.

46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

47 예수님께서 나다나엘이 자신에게 오는 것을 보셨으니, 그에 관하여 말씀하시기를, “진정한 이스라엘인을 보라. 그의 안에는 기만이 전혀 없도다!” 하시니라.

47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

48 나다나엘이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “당신께서 어떻게 저를 아시나이까?” 하니라. 예수님께서 그에게 대답하여 말씀하시기를, “빌립이 너를 부르기 전, 곧 네가 무화과나무 아래에 있었을 때 내가 너를 보았노라.” 하셨느니라.

48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

49 나다나엘이 그분께 대답하여 말씀드리기를, “랍비여, 당신께서는 하나님의 아들이시요, 당신께서는 이스라엘의 왕이시니이다.” 하니라.

49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

50 예수님께서 그에게 대답하여 말씀하시기를, “내가 너에게 말하기를, ‘내가 너를 그 무화과나무 아래에서 보았노라.’ 하였기에 네가 믿느냐? 너는 이것들보다 더 위대한 것들을 보리라.” 하셨느니라.

50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

51 이어서 그분께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “진실로, 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘이후로는 너희가 하늘이 열리는 것과 하나님의 천사들이 인자 위에서 올라가고 내려가는 것을 보리라.’” 하시니라.

51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
