요한복음 16장
1 이런 것들을 내가 너희에게 언급한 것은 너희가 실족되지 않게 하려는 것이라.
1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
2 그들이 회당에서 너희를 출회하리라. 진정 그 시간이 오나니, 누구든지 너희를 죽이는 자는 자신이 하나님을 섬기고 있다고 생각하리라.
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
3 그리고 이런 것들을 그들이 너희에게 행하리니, 그들이 아버지를 모르며 나도 모르기 때문이라.
3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
4 그러나 이런 것들을 내가 너희에게 알렸나니, 그 시간이 올 때 너희로 하여금 내가 그것들에 관하여 알려 준 것을 기억하게 하려 함이라. 그리고 내가 초기에 이런 것들을 너희에게 말하지 아니하였던 것은 내가 너희와 함께 있었던 까닭이라.
4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5 그러나 이제 나는 나를 보내신 분께로 나의 길을 가노라. 그런데 ‘당신께서 어디로 가시나이까?’라고 너희 중에 아무도 나에게 묻지 않고
5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
6 오히려 내가 너희에게 이런 것들을 말한 까닭에 너희 마음이 슬픔으로 채워졌도다.
6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
7 그럼에도 불구하고 내가 너희에게 진리를 알려 주노니, ‘내가 떠나가는 것이 너희에게 유익하니라. 이는 만일 내가 떠나가지 아니한다면 위로자께서 너희에게 임하시지 아니할 것이기 때문이라. 그러나 내가 떠난다면 내가 그분을 너희에게 보내겠노라.’
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 그리고 그분께서 오시면 친히 죄에 대하여, 의에 대하여, 심판에 대하여 세상을 책망하시리라.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 죄에 대하여라 함은 그들이 나를 믿지 아니하기 때문이요,
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 의에 대하여라 함은 내가 나의 아버지께로 가므로 너희가 나를 더 이상 보지 못하기 때문이요,
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 심판에 대하여라 함은 이 세상의 통치자가 심판을 받기 때문이라.
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 내가 너희에게 말할 것들이 아직 많이 있으나 지금은 너희가 그것들을 감당하지 못하느니라.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 하지만 진리의 영이신 그분께서 오시면 그분께서 너희를 모든 진리 가운데로 인도하시리라. 이는 그분께서 자신에 관하여 말씀하지 아니하실 것이기 때문이요, 다만 무엇이든지 그분께서 들으실 것을 친히 말씀하시리라. 그리고 그분께서는 다가올 것들을 너희에게 보이시리라.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14 그분께서 나를 영화롭게 하시리라. 이는 그분께서 내 것으로부터 받으실 것이요, 그것을 너희에게 보이실 것이기 때문이라.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 아버지께서 가지고 계시는 모든 것들은 내 것이라. 그러므로 내가 말하기를, ‘그분께서 내 것으로부터 취하실 것이요, 그것을 너희에게 보이실 것이라.’ 하였느니라.
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16 잠시 후에는 너희가 나를 보지 못하리라. 그리고 또다시 잠시 후에는 너희가 나를 보리라. 이는 내가 아버지께로 가기 때문이라.”
16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
17 그때 그분의 제자들 중 일부가 “그분께서 우리에게 ‘잠시 후에는 너희가 나를 보지 못하리라. 그리고 또다시 잠시 후에는 너희가 나를 보리라.’ 하시며, ‘이는 내가 아버지께로 가기 때문이라.’ 말씀하신 이것이 무엇인가?”라고 자기들끼리 말하였더라.
17 Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
18 그러므로 그들이 말하기를, “그분께서 말씀하시는 이 ‘잠시’는 무엇인가? 우리는 그분께서 말씀하시는 것을 분간할 수 없도다.” 하였더라.
18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
19 이때 예수님께서 그들이 자신에게 여쭙기를 희망하는 것을 아셨기에 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너희는 내가 말하기를, ‘잠시 후에는 너희가 나를 보지 못하리라. 그리고 또다시 잠시 후에는 너희가 나를 보리라.’ 한 것에 관하여 서로 묻고 있느냐?
19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
20 진실로, 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘너희는 울고 애통해할 것이나 세상은 크게 기뻐할 것이라. 그리고 너희는 슬퍼할 것이나 너희의 슬픔은 즐거움으로 변하리라.’
20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
21 여자가 산고를 치를 때면 그녀에게 슬픔이 있으니, 그녀의 시각이 이르렀기 때문이라. 그러나 그녀가 아이를 해산하게 되자마자 그녀는 더 이상 그 극심한 고통을 기억하지 아니하니, 사람이 세상 속에 태어난 기쁨 때문이라.
21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
22 그런즉 너희가 이제 이런 이유에서 슬픔을 지니는 것이라. 그러나 나는 너희를 다시 보리라. 그리하면 너희의 마음이 크게 기뻐하고, 아무도 너희의 즐거움을 너희에게서 빼앗지 못하리라.
22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
23 그리고 그날에는 너희가 나에게 아무것도 묻지 아니하리라. 진실로, 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘무엇이든지 너희가 나의 이름으로 아버지께 구하면 그분께서 그것을 너희에게 주시리라.’
23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 지금까지 너희는 나의 이름으로 아무것도 구하지 아니하였느니라. 구하라, 그리하면 너희가 받으리라. 이로써 너희의 즐거움이 충만하게 하려 함이라.
24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
25 이런 것들을 내가 너희에게 잠언들로 말하였느니라. 그러나 그때가 오나니 내가 너희에게 더 이상 잠언들로 말하지 아니할 때라. 그러나 내가 아버지에 관하여 너희에게 명료하게 보이리라.
25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
26 그날에는 너희가 내 이름으로 구하리라. 그리고 나는 너희에게 내가 아버지께 너희를 위하여 기도하겠노라고 말하지 아니하느니라.
26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
27 이는 아버지께서 친히 너희를 사랑하시기 때문이니, 너희가 나를 사랑하였고 내가 하나님께로부터 나온 것을 믿었기 때문이라.
27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28 내가 아버지께로부터 나왔고 세상 속으로 왔노라. 다시금 나는 세상을 떠나서 아버지께로 가노라.”
28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
29 그분의 제자들이 그분께 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “보소서, 이제 당신께서는 명료하게 말씀하시고 잠언으로 말씀하지 아니하시나이다.
29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
30 이제 당신께서 모든 것들을 아시고, 어떤 사람이 당신께 묻는 것을 필요로 하시지 아니함을 우리가 확실히 아나이다. 이것을 통하여 우리는 당신께서 하나님께로부터 나오셨음을 믿나이다.”
30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
31 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하셨느니라. “너희가 이제 믿느냐?
31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
32 보라, 그 시각이 오나니, 진정 너희가 흩어지고 모든 사람이 저마다 자기 소유로 향하며 나를 홀로 남겨 둘 시각이 지금 왔도다. 그런데도 불구하고 나는 홀로 있지 아니하니, 아버지께서 나와 함께 계시는 까닭이라.
32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 이런 것들을 내가 너희에게 말한 것은 내 안에서 너희가 평안을 지니게 하려 함이라. 세상에서는 너희가 환란을 당할 것이라. 그러나 좋은 기운을 내라. 내가 세상을 이겼노라.”
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
