데살로니가전서 5장

1 그러나 형제들아, 그 때들과 그 시기들에 대해서는 내가 너희에게 쓰는 것이 너희에게 전혀 필요하지 아니하노라.

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2 이는 주의 날이 밤에 도둑같이 그렇게 오는 것을 너희 자신이 완전히 알고 있기 때문이라.

2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3 이는 그들이 말하기를, “평안하고 안전하다.” 할 그때 갑작스러운 멸망이 그들에게 임하기 때문이니, 아이를 가진 여자에게 산고가 임하는 것과 같으니라. 그런즉 그들은 벗어나지 못하리라.

3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4 그러나 형제들아, 너희는 어둠 속에 있지 아니하니, 그날이 도둑같이 너희를 엄습하지 못하게 하려는 것이라.

4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5 너희 모두는 빛의 자녀들이요, 낮의 자녀들이라. 우리는 밤에 속하지도 아니하고, 어둠에 속하지도 아니하니라.

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 그러므로 우리는 다른 이들이 하는 것처럼 잠자지 말자. 오직 우리는 깨어 있고 정신을 차리자.

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 이는 잠자는 자들은 밤에 자고, 술 취하는 자들은 밤에 술 취하기 때문이라.

7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8 그러나 낮에 속한 우리는, 정신을 차리고 믿음과 사랑의 흉갑을 입자. 또 구원의 소망을 투구로 쓰자.

8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9 이는 하나님께서 우리를 진노에 이르도록 정하신 것이 아니요, 오직 우리 주 예수 그리스도에 의하여 구원을 획득하도록 정하셨기 때문이라.

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 그분께서 우리를 위하여 죽으셨으니, 우리가 깨든지 자든지 우리로 하여금 그분과 함께 살게 하려 하심이라.

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11 이런 이유로 너희 또한 행하고 있는 바대로, 너희 자신을 함께 위로하고 서로 세워주라.

11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

12 그리고 형제들아, 우리가 너희에게 간청하노니, 너희 가운데 수고하고 주 안에서 너희를 다스리며 너희에게 권고하는 자들을 알라.

12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

13 그런즉 그들의 일로 인하여 그들을 사랑 안에서 매우 귀중히 여기라. 또한 너희는 서로 화평하라.

13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

14 형제들아, 이제 우리가 너희에게 권면하노니, 제멋대로 행하는 자들에게 경고하고, 나약한 생각을 갖게 된 자들을 격려하며, 약한 자들에게 힘을 실어주고, 모든 사람들을 향하여 인내하라.

14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

15 아무도 어떤 사람에게든지 악을 악으로 되갚지 않도록 주의하라. 다만 언제나 선한 것을 따르되, 너희 자신 가운데서와 모든 사람들에게 다 그리하라.

15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

16 항상 크게 기뻐하라.

16 Rejoice evermore.

17 끊임없이 기도하라.

17 Pray without ceasing.

18 매사에 감사들을 드리라. 이는 이것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희에 관한 하나님의 뜻이기 때문이라.

18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19 성령을 식게 하지 말라.

19 Quench not the Spirit.

20 예언들을 멸시하지 말라.

20 Despise not prophesyings.

21 모든 것들을 입증하라. 선한 것을 굳게 붙잡으라.

21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22 악의 모든 모양을 멀리하라.

22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23 그리고 화평의 바로 그 하나님께서 너희를 온전히 성결하게 구별시키시기를 기원하노라. 그리하여 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 오심까지 너희의 온 영과 혼과 몸이 비난받을 것이 없게 보존되기를 내가 하나님께 기도하노라.

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 너희를 부르시는 분께서는 신실하시니, 또한 그분께서 그것을 행하시리라.

24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

25 형제들아, 우리를 위하여 기도하라.

25 Brethren, pray for us.

26 모든 형제들에게 거룩한 입맞춤으로 인사하라.

26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

27 내가 주에 의하여 너희에게 명하노니, 모든 거룩한 형제들에게 이 서신이 읽히게 하라.

27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

28 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜가 너희와 함께 있기를 기원하노라. 아멘.

28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
