룻기 4장

1 그때 보아즈가 성문에 올라가서 거기에 스스로 앉았더라. 그런데 보라, 보아즈가 언급하였던 그 남자 친척이 지나갔더라. 보아즈가 그에게 말하기를, “호, 아무개여! 이리로 돌이켜 앉아 보라.” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 그리로 돌이켜 앉았더라.

1 Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

2 그리고 그가 도시의 장로들 열 사람을 데려와 말하기를, “당신들께서는 여기에 앉으소서.” 하였더라. 그러자 그들이 앉았더라.

2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

3 그러고 나서 그가 그 남자 친척에게 이같이 말하였더라. “모압 지방에서 돌아온 나오미가 우리의 형제 엘리멜렉에게 속한 토지 한 필지를 파는도다.

3 And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:

4 그런즉 내가 그대에게 이같이 말하여 공시하기로 생각하였도다. ‘거주자들 앞과 나의 백성의 장로들 앞에서 그것을 구입하라. 만일 그대가 그것을 구속할 의향이 있다면, 그것을 구속하라. 그러나 만일 그대가 그것을 구속할 의향이 없다면, 그때는 내가 알 수 있도록 나에게 알리라. 이는 그대 외에는 그것을 구속할 이가 아무도 없기 때문이라. 나는 그대 다음이라.’” 그러자 그가 말하기를, “내가 그것을 구속하겠도다.” 하였더라.

4 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

5 그때 보아즈가 말하기를, “그대가 나오미의 손에서 그 밭을 구입하는 날에는 죽은 자의 유산 위에 그의 이름을 일으켜 세우기 위하여, 죽은 자의 아내인 모압족 여인 룻에게서도 그대가 반드시 그것을 구입하여야 하는도다.” 하였더라.

5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

6 ¶ 그러자 그 남자 친척이 말하기를, “나는 나 자신을 위하여 그것을 구속할 수 없으니, 내가 내 소유의 유산을 훼손하지 않으려 함이라. 그대가 나의 권리를 그대에게로 구속하라. 이는 내가 그것을 구속할 수 없기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

6 ¶ And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.

7 이때, 이것이 이전 시대의 이스라엘에서 구속하는 일에 관해서나 교환하는 일에 관해서 모든 것들을 확정하기 위한 방식이었으니, 한 사람이 자기 신발 한 짝을 벗은 다음, 그것을 자기 이웃에게 주는 것이었더라. 그런즉 이것이 이스라엘에서 하나의 간증이 되었더라.

7 Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

8 그러므로 그 남자 친척이 보아즈에게 말하기를, “그대를 위하여 그것을 사라.” 하였더라. 그렇게 하여 그가 자기 신발 한 짝을 벗었더라.

8 Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.

9 ¶ 그러자 보아즈가 장로들과 모든 백성에게 이같이 말하였더라. “나는 엘리멜렉에게 속한 모든 것과 킬리온의 것과 말론의 것을 모두 나오미의 손에서 구입하였으니, 그대들은 이날에 증인들이라.

9 ¶ And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.

10 이뿐만 아니라 내가 말론의 아내인 모압족 여인 룻을 값을 치르고 얻어 나의 아내가 되도록 하였으니, 죽은 자의 유산 위에 그의 이름을 일으켜 세워서 죽은 자의 이름이 그의 형제들 가운데서와 그의 처소의 대문에서 끊어지지 않게 하려는 것이라. 그대들은 이날에 증인들이라.”

10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

11 그러자 성문 안에 있던 모든 백성과 장로들이 말하기를, “우리가 증인들이라. 주께서 너의 집으로 들어간 그 여자를 라헬같이, 또 레아같이 만드시기를 바라노라. 그 둘은 이스라엘 집을 세웠도다. 그런즉 너는 에프라타에서 훌륭하게 행하여 베들레헴에서 유명하게 되라.

11 And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

12 그리고 이 젊은 여자로부터 주께서 너에게 주실 씨를 통해 너의 집은 타말이 유다에게 낳아 준 파레즈의 집과 같이 될지어다.”

12 And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.

13 ¶ 그렇게 하여 보아즈가 룻을 취하였으니 그녀가 그의 아내가 되었더라. 그리고 그가 그녀에게로 들어갔을 때 주께서 그녀를 임신하게 하셨으니, 그녀가 한 아들을 낳았더라.

13 ¶ So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.

14 그러자 여자들이 나오미에게 이같이 말하였더라. “주께서 찬양받으시기를 바라노라. 그분께서 이날에 너를 남자 친척 하나도 없이 남겨 두지 아니하셨으니, 그의 이름이 이스라엘에서 유명해지기를 바라노라.

14 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

15 그런즉 그는 네 인생의 회복자가 될 것이요, 네 노년에 봉양하는 자가 되리라. 이는 너를 사랑하는 이요, 너에게 일곱 아들보다 나은 너의 며느리가 그를 낳았기 때문이라.”

15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.

16 그러자 나오미가 그 아이를 데려가서 그것을 그녀의 품에 누이고 그 아이의 보모가 되었더라.

16 And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.

17 이에 그녀의 이웃들인 여자들이 그 아이에게 이름을 주며 말하기를, “나오미에게 아들이 태어났도다.” 하였더라. 그러면서 그들이 그의 이름을 오벳이라 불렀으니, 그는 다윗의 아버지인 이새의 아버지라.

17 And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

18 ¶ 이제 이들이 파레즈의 세대들이라. 파레즈는 헤즈론을 낳았고

18 ¶ Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

19 헤즈론은 람을 낳았고 람은 암미나답을 낳았고

19 And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

20 암미나답은 나숀을 낳았고 나숀은 살몬을 낳았고

20 And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

21 살몬은 보아즈를 낳았고 보아즈는 오벳을 낳았고

21 And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

22 오벳은 이새를 낳았고 이새는 다윗을 낳았더라.

22 And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
