디도서 3장

1 그들을 명심하게 하여 정사들과 권능들에게 복종하고 행정관들에게 순종하며 모든 선한 행위마다 준비되게 하고

1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

2 어느 누구에 관해서도 악담하지 말고 말싸움하는 자가 되지 말며 다만 온화하여 모든 사람들에게 온전한 온유함을 보이도록 하라.

2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

3 이는 우리 자신도 일찍이 어리석고 불순종하며 속았고, 다양한 정욕들과 쾌락들을 섬겼으며, 악의와 시기 가운데 살았고 증오에 차서 서로를 증오하였기 때문이라.

3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

4 그러나 사람을 향한 우리 구원자이신 하나님의 친절하심과 사랑이 나타난 뒤로

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5 우리가 행한 의의 행위들에 의해서가 아니라 오직 그분의 자비에 따라 그분께서 우리를 구원하셨으니, 거듭남의 씻음과 성령님의 새롭게 하심에 의한 것이라.

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6 그분께서는 우리 구원자이신 예수 그리스도를 통하여 우리에게 그 성령님을 넘치게 부어 주셨느니라.

6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

7 이는 그분의 은혜로 정당함을 입증받은 우리로 하여금 영생의 소망에 따른 상속인들이 되게 하려 하심이라.

7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

8 이것은 신실하게 하신 말씀이니, 나는 네가 이런 것들을 굳건하게 단언하기를 바라노라. 이는 하나님을 믿는 그들로 하여금 주의 깊게 선한 행위들을 유지하게 하려 함이라. 이런 것들은 사람들에게 선하고 유익하니라.

8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

9 그러나 어리석은 의문들과 족보들과 쟁점들과 율법에 관한 분쟁들을 피하라. 이는 그것들이 무익하고 헛되기 때문이라.

9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

10 이단인 사람은 첫 번째와 두 번째 권고 후에 거절하라.

10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

11 그러한 자는 진리에서 벗어나 타락하였고 죄를 지어 스스로에게 정죄받고 있음을 네가 알고 있기 때문이라.

11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

12 내가 아테마스나 투키쿠스를 너에게 보낼 때면 니코폴리스에 있는 나에게 오기를 힘쓰라. 이는 내가 거기에서 겨울까지 있기로 결정하였기 때문이라.

12 When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.

13 율법사 제나스와 아폴로를 그들의 여정으로 부지런히 후원하여, 그들에게 부족한 것이 아무것도 없게 하라.

13 Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.

14 그리고 우리에게 속한 자들도 꼭 필요한 용도들을 위하여 선한 행위들을 유지하도록 배우게 하여 그들이 열매 없는 자가 되지 않게 하라.

14 And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

15 나와 함께한 자들 모두가 너에게 문안하느니라. 믿음 안에서 우리를 사랑하는 자들에게 인사하라. 은혜가 너희 모두와 함께 있기를 기원하노라. 아멘.

15 All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.

16 ¶ 크레타인들의 교회의 첫 번째 감독으로 선임된 디도에게 보내는 서신이 마케도니아의 니코폴리스에서 기록되었다.

16 ¶ It was written to Titus, ordained the first bishop of the church of the Cretians, from Nicopolis of Macedonia.
