에스겔서 33장

1 다시금 주의 말씀이 나에게 임하였으니, 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.

1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

2 “사람의 아들아, 너의 백성의 자녀들에게 전하여 그들에게 이같이 말하라. 내가 칼을 어느 지역 위로 가져올 때 가령 그 지역의 백성이 그들의 지경들에서 한 사람을 골라 그를 자신들의 파수꾼으로 세우는데

2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:

3 만일 그가 칼이 그 지역 위에 임하는 것을 목격하고 그가 나팔을 불어서 백성에게 경고하는 경우

3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;

4 그때 누구든지 나팔 소리를 듣고도 경고를 받아들이지 아니하는 자는 혹 칼이 임하여 그를 제거할 때 그의 피가 그 자신의 머리 위에 있으리라.

4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

5 그가 나팔 소리를 듣고도 경고를 받아들이지 아니하니, 그의 피는 그의 위에 있으리라. 그러나 경고를 받아들이는 자는 자신의 혼을 구출하리라.

5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

6 그러나 만일 그 파수꾼이 칼이 임하는 것을 보고도 나팔을 불지 아니하여 백성이 경고를 받지 못하였다면 혹 칼이 임하여 그들 중 어떤 인물을 제거할 때 그는 자신의 죄악 가운데서 제거되는 것이나 그의 피는 내가 그 파수꾼의 손에 요구하겠노라.

6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

7 ¶ 오, 너, 사람의 아들아, 이처럼 내가 너를 이스라엘 집에 파수꾼으로 세웠도다. 그러므로 너는 나의 입에서 나오는 말을 듣고 나에게서 나온 경고를 그들에게 줄지니라.

7 ¶ So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

8 내가 사악한 자에게 말하기를, ‘오, 사악한 사람아, 너는 반드시 죽으리라.’ 할 때, 혹 네가 그 사악한 자에게 그의 길에서 돌이키도록 경고를 전하지 아니한다면 그 사악한 사람은 자기 죄악 가운데서 죽을 것이나 그의 피는 내가 너의 손에서 요구하겠노라.

8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

9 그럼에도 불구하고 만일 네가 그 사악한 자에게 그의 길에서 돌이키도록 그의 길에 관하여 경고한다면, 그가 그의 길에서 돌이키지 아니하는 경우에 그는 자기 죄악 가운데서 죽을 것이나 너는 너의 혼을 구출한 것이라.

9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

10 오, 사람의 아들아, 그러므로 너는 이스라엘 집에 말하라. 너희가 이같이 일러 말하기를, ‘만일 우리의 불법들과 우리의 죄들이 우리 위에 있어서 우리가 그것들 가운데서 쇠약해진다면 그때는 우리가 어떻게 살겠는가?’ 하는도다.

10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?

11 그들에게 말하기를, ‘내가 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니, 주 하나님이 말하노라. 나는 사악한 자의 죽음을 기뻐하지 아니하는도다. 오히려 그 사악한 자가 자신의 길에서 돌이켜 사는 것을 기뻐하노라. 오, 이스라엘 집아, 너희는 돌이키라. 너희는 너희의 악한 길들에서 돌이키라. 어찌하여 너희가 죽으려고 하느냐?’ 하라.

11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

12 너, 사람의 아들아, 그러므로 너의 백성의 자녀들에게 이같이 말하라. ‘의로운 자의 의가 그의 불법의 날에 그를 구출하지 못하리라. 사악한 자의 사악함으로 말하자면, 그가 자신의 사악함에서 돌이키는 날에 그는 그것으로 쓰러지지 아니하리라. 또한 의로운 자가 죄를 짓는 날에 그는 자기 의로 능히 살지 못하리라.

12 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.

13 내가 의로운 자에게 말하기를, ‘그가 반드시 살리라.’ 할 때 만일 그가 자기 자신의 의를 신뢰하여 죄악을 저지른다면, 그의 모든 의는 기억되지 아니하리라. 오히려 그는 자신이 저지른 자신의 죄악, 그것으로 인하여 죽으리라.

13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

14 또 한편, 내가 사악한 자에게 말하기를, ‘너는 반드시 죽으리라.’ 할 때 만일 그가 자기 죄에서 돌이켜서 합법적이고 올바른 것을 행한다면,

14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;

15 혹 그 사악한 자가 담보물을 반환하고 자신이 강탈한 것을 돌려주며 생명의 규례들 가운데서 살아가고 죄악을 저지르지 아니하는 경우, 그는 반드시 살리니, 그가 죽지 아니하리라.

15 If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.

16 그가 저질렀던 그의 죄들 중 아무것도 그에게 언급되지 아니하리라. 그는 합법적인 일과 올바른 것을 행하였도다. 그는 반드시 살리라.

16 None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

17 ¶ 그럼에도 너의 백성의 자녀들은 말하기를, ‘주의 길이 공평하지 아니하도다.’ 하는구나. 그러나 그들로 말하자면, 그들의 길이야말로 공평하지 아니하도다.

17 ¶ Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.

18 의로운 자가 돌이켜서 자기 의에서 떠나 죄악을 저지를 때, 실로 그는 그것으로 말미암아 죽으리라.

18 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.

19 그러나 만일 사악한 자가 자신의 사악함에서 돌이켜서 합법적이고 올바른 것을 행한다면 그는 그것으로 말미암아 살리라.

19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.

20 ¶ 그럼에도 너희는 말하기를, ‘주의 길이 공평하지 아니하도다’ 하는구나. 오, 너희, 이스라엘 집아, 내가 너희 모두를 저마다 그의 길들에 따라 심판하겠노라.’”

20 ¶ Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.

21 ¶ 이후 우리의 포로 생활의 제십이년 열째 달, 그달 오 일에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 예루살렘에서 탈출한 자가 나에게 이르러 말하기를, “그 도시가 패하였도다.” 하였더라.

21 ¶ And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.

22 이때 그 탈출하게 된 자가 오기 전이었는데, 주의 손이 저녁에 내 위에 임하였으니, 그가 아침에 나에게 도착할 때까지 나의 입을 여셨도다. 그런즉 나의 입이 열렸으니, 내가 더 이상 말 못 하는 자가 되지 아니하였도다.

22 Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.

23 그때 주의 말씀이 나에게 임하였으니, 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.

23 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

24 “사람의 아들아, 이스라엘 지역의 그 불모지들에 거주하는 자들이 일러 말하기를, ‘아브라함은 한 명이었는데 그가 그 지역을 상속하였도다. 그러나 우리는 수가 많도다. 그 지역이 우리에게 유산으로 주어지는도다.’ 하는도다.

24 Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.

25 이러한 이유로 그들에게 이같이 말하라. 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 너희가 피를 함께 먹고, 너희 눈을 너희의 우상들을 향하여 들어 올리며 피를 흘리게 하는도다. 그런데도 너희가 그 지역을 차지하겠느냐?

25 Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?

26 너희가 너희 칼에 의거한 채 서 있도다. 너희는 가증함을 조장하나니, 너희는 모두 저마다 자기 이웃의 아내를 더럽히는도다. 그런데도 너희가 그 지역을 차지하겠느냐?

26 Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbour's wife: and shall ye possess the land?

27 너는 그들에게 이같이 말하라. 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 내가 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니, 불모지들 안에 있는 자들은 반드시 칼에 의하여 쓰러질 것이요, 벌판에 있는 자는 내가 짐승들에게 집어삼켜지도록 내줄 것이요, 보루들과 동굴들 안에 있는 자들은 역병으로 죽으리라.

27 Say thou thus unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely they that are in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that be in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence.

28 이는 내가 그 지역을 지극히 황량하게 두고, 그녀의 힘의 화려한 행렬을 중단시킬 것이기 때문이라. 그리하면 이스라엘의 산들이 황량해질 것이요, 아무도 지나다니지 아니하리라.

28 For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, that none shall pass through.

29 그들이 저지른 그들의 모든 가증함들로 인하여 내가 그 지역을 지극히 황량하게 둘 때 비로소 그들은 내가 주라는 것을 알게 되리라.

29 Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.

30 ¶ 또한 너, 사람의 아들아, 너의 백성의 자녀들이 담장들 옆에서 그리고 집들의 문들 안에서 너를 대적하여 계속 대화하고 있나니, 서로 이야기하고, 모두가 저마다 자기 형제에게 말하기를, ‘내가 너희에게 청하노니, 와서 주께로부터 나오는 말씀이 무엇인지 들으라.’ 하는도다.

30 ¶ Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.

31 그리하여 그들은 마치 백성이 오듯이 너에게 오는도다. 그리고 그들은 마치 나의 백성인 듯이 너의 앞에 앉아 있도다. 그리하여 그들은 너의 말들을 들으나 그들은 그것들을 실행하려 하지 아니하는도다. 이는 그들의 입으로는 그들이 많은 사랑을 보이나 그들의 마음은 자신들의 탐욕을 따라가기 때문이라.

31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

32 그런즉 보라, 너는 그들에게 고운 목소리를 가지고 있고 악기를 잘 연주할 수 있는 자의 아주 사랑스러운 노래같이 되었도다. 이는 그들이 너의 말들을 들으나 그들은 그것들을 행하지 아니하기 때문이라.

32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

33 그러다가 이것이 일어날 때, (보라, 그것이 이르리라.) 비로소 그들은 자신들 가운데 한 예언자가 있었다는 것을 알게 되리라.”

33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.
