히브리서 12장

1 이런 이유로 우리도 이처럼 커다란 구름 같은 증인들로 둘러싸여 있으니, 우리가 모든 무거운 것마다 벗어 버리고, 너무 쉽게 우리를 에워싸는 죄를 벗어 버리자. 그리고 우리 앞에 놓인 경주를 우리가 인내로 달려가며,

1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2 우리 믿음의 창시자이자 완성자이신 예수님을 바라보자. 그분께서는 자신 앞에 놓인 즐거움을 위하여 수치를 멸시하시며 십자가를 견디셨고 하나님의 보좌 오른편에 앉게 되셨느니라.

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 그런즉 자신을 대적하는 죄인들의 그와 같은 반박을 견디어 내신 그분을 깊이 생각하라. 이는 너희로 하여금 너희들의 생각들 속에서 지치고 낙담하지 않도록 하려 함이라.

3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

4 너희가 죄를 대적하여 분투하여도 아직 피 흘리기까지 저항하지는 않았느니라.

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

5 그리고 너희가 자녀들에게 하듯이 너희에게 이같이 이야기하시는 권면을 잊었도다. “나의 아들아, 너는 주의 징계를 멸시하지 말고 네가 그분께 꾸짖음을 받을 때 낙심하지 말라.

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

6 이는 주께서 사랑하시는 자를 친히 징계하시고 그분께서 받아들이시는 모든 아들마다 채찍질하시기 때문이라.”

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 만일 너희가 징계를 견디어 낸다면 하나님께서 아들들을 대하듯 너희를 대해 주시느니라. 그런즉 아버지가 징계하지 않는 자가 무슨 아들이냐?

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 그러나 만일 모두가 동참자들이 되는 징계가 너희에게 없다면 그때 너희는 아들들이 아닌 사생아들이로다.

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9 더욱이 우리에게 우리를 바로잡았던, 우리 육신의 아버지들이 있었으며, 우리가 그들을 경외하였거든 하물며 영들의 아버지께는 우리가 더욱 복종하여 살아야 하지 않겠느냐?

9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 이는 그들이 진실로 그들 자신들이 기뻐하는 대로 우리를 며칠 동안 징계하였으나 그분께서는 우리의 유익을 위하여 징계하셨기 때문이니, 우리로 하여금 그분의 거룩함의 동참자들이 되게 하려 하심이라.

10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

11 지금 당장은 어떤 징계도 즐거워 보이지 않고 오히려 비통해 보이지만 그럼에도 불구하고 그것은 이후에 징계로 훈련된 자들에게 화평한 의의 열매를 맺느니라.

11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

12 그러므로 아래로 처진 손과 나약한 무릎을 일으켜 세우라.

12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

13 그리고 너희 발을 위하여 행로들을 곧게 하라. 이는 절뚝거리는 발이 길 밖으로 향하지 않게 하고 오히려 그것이 고침을 받게 하려 함이라.

13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

14 모든 사람들과 함께 화평과 거룩함을 따르라. 어떤 사람도 그것들 없이는 주를 보지 못하리라.

14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

15 어떤 사람도 하나님의 은혜에 미치지 못하는 일이 없도록 부지런히 돌아보라. 이는 어떤 쓴 뿌리도 솟아나서 너희를 괴롭히지 않게 하려 함이요, 그것으로 많은 이들이 더럽혀지지 않게 하려 함이요,

15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

16 어떤 음행하는 자나 에서와 같이 속된 인물이 없게 하려 함이라. 그는 음식 한 입에 자신의 장자권을 팔았느니라.

16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

17 이는 그 뒤에 그가 복을 상속받고자 하였을 때 그가 거절당하였음을 너희가 알기 때문이니, 그가 눈물들을 흘리며 애절하게 그것을 구하였음에도 그는 회개할 여지를 전혀 찾지 못하였기 때문이라.

17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

18 이는 너희가, 만질 수 있고 불이 타오르는 그 산에 이른 것이 아니요, 암흑과 어둠과 광풍에 이른 것도 아니기 때문이라.

18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

19 그리고 나팔 소리와 말씀들의 음성에 이른 것도 아니니, 그 음성을 들은 자들은 그 말씀이 더 이상 자신들에게 전해지지 않게 해달라고 간청하였느니라.

19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

20 (이는 그들이 명령을 받은 것을 견디지 못하였기 때문이니, “그리고 만일 짐승일지라도 그 산에 닿는다면 그것은 돌로 맞아 죽거나 작은 화살에 관통되리라.” 하신 것이라.

20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

21 그런즉 그 광경이 이처럼 공포스러웠기에 모세도 말하기를, “내가 극도로 두렵고 전율하노라.” 하였느니라.)

21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

22 그러나 너희는 시-온산에 이르렀으며, 살아 계신 하나님의 도성인 하늘에 있는 예루살렘에 이르렀고, 무수한 천사들의 한 집단에 이르렀으며,

22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

23 총회와 하늘에 기록되어 있는 첫째로 난 자들의 교회에 이르렀고, 모두의 심판자이신 하나님께 이르렀으며, 완전하게 된 의인들의 영들에 이르렀고,

23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

24 새 언약의 중재자이신 예수님께 이르렀으며, 뿌리는 피에 이르렀으니, 그것은 아벨의 것보다 더 좋은 것들을 말하느니라.

24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

25 너희는 말씀하시는 그분을 거역하지 않도록 주의하라. 이는 만일 지상에서 말씀하신 분을 거역한 그들이 피하지 못하였다면, 우리가 하늘에서 말씀하시는 분을 외면할 때 우리는 더욱더 피하지 못할 것이기 때문이라.

25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

26 그때 그분의 음성은 땅을 흔들었느니라. 그러나 이제는 그분께서 약속하며 말씀하시기를, “내가 땅뿐만 아니라 하늘까지도 다시 한 번 더 흔드노라.” 하셨느니라.

26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

27 그리고 “다시 한 번 더”라는 이 말씀은 흔들릴 수 없는 그러한 것들이 남아 있게 하시려고 흔들리는 그러한 것들, 곧 현재 만들어져 있는 것들을 제거하심을 알려 주시려는 것이라.

27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

28 이런 이유로 우리가 흔들리지 않는 한 왕국을 받았으니, 우리가 은혜를 소유하자. 이는 은혜를 통하여 우리가 경외함과 경건한 두려움으로 하나님을 섬기되, 기꺼이 받아들여지도록 섬기려 함이라.

28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

29 이는 우리 하나님께서는 태워 버리는 불이시기 때문이라.

29 For our God is a consuming fire.
