사사기 19장

1 그리고 그 당시에 이스라엘에 왕이 없었을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 에프라임산 등성이에서 체류하던 어떤 레위인 한 명이 있었더라. 그는 베들레헴유다에서 한 첩을 자신에게로 취하였더라.

1 And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah.

2 그러다가 그의 첩이 그를 대적하여 매춘부 짓을 하였고, 그에게서 떠나 그녀의 아버지의 집으로 가서 베들레헴유다에 이르렀으니, 거기서 사 개월을 꼬박 보냈더라.

2 And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him unto her father's house to Bethlehemjudah, and was there four whole months.

3 이후에 그녀의 남편이 일어나 그녀를 쫓아갔으니, 그녀에게 자상하게 말하여 그녀를 다시 데려오려고 그의 종과 두 필의 나귀들을 그의 곁에 대동하였더라. 그러자 그녀가 그를 자신의 아버지의 집으로 데려갔더라. 그리하여 그 젊은 여인의 아버지가 그를 보았을 때 그가 크게 기뻐하며 그를 맞이하였더라.

3 And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, and to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father's house: and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.

4 그리고 그의 장인이자 그 젊은 여인의 아버지가 그를 머물게 하였더니, 그가 그의 곁에서 삼 일 동안 거하였더라. 그렇게 하여 그들이 먹고 마시며 거기서 묵었더라.

4 And his father in law, the damsel's father, retained him; and he abode with him three days: so they did eat and drink, and lodged there.

5 ¶ 그러다가 넷째 날이 되어 그들이 아침에 일찍 일어났을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 떠나려고 일어났는데 그 젊은 여인의 아버지가 그의 사위에게 말하기를, “약간의 빵으로 그대의 마음을 위로하고 그런 뒤에 그대의 길을 가라.” 하였더라.

5 ¶ And it came to pass on the fourth day, when they arose early in the morning, that he rose up to depart: and the damsel's father said unto his son in law, Comfort thine heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward go your way.

6 그리하여 그들이 앉았고 그들 모두가 함께 먹고 마셨더라. 이는 그 젊은 여인의 아버지가 그 남자에게 말하기를, “내가 그대에게 부탁하노니, 만족하고 온 밤을 머물라. 그리하여 그대의 마음을 즐겁게 하라.” 하였기 때문이라.

6 And they sat down, and did eat and drink both of them together: for the damsel's father had said unto the man, Be content, I pray thee, and tarry all night, and let thine heart be merry.

7 이후에 그 남자가 떠나려고 일어났을 때 그의 장인이 그에게 강권하였더라. 그러므로 그가 거기에서 다시 묵었더라.

7 And when the man rose up to depart, his father in law urged him: therefore he lodged there again.

8 그러고 나서 그가 다섯째 날에 떠나려고 아침에 일찍 일어났더라. 그러자 그 젊은 여인의 아버지가 말하기를, “내가 그대에게 부탁하노니, 그대의 마음을 위로하라.” 하였더라. 그리하여 그들이 오후까지 머물며 그들 양쪽 모두가 먹었더라.

8 And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart: and the damsel's father said, Comfort thine heart, I pray thee. And they tarried until afternoon, and they did eat both of them.

9 이윽고 그 남자, 곧 그와 그의 첩과 그의 종이 떠나려고 일어났을 때 그의 장인이자 그 젊은 여인의 아버지가 그에게 말하기를, “보라, 이제 날이 저녁으로 기울어 가는도다. 내가 그대에게 부탁하노니, 온 밤을 머물라. 보라, 날이 끝으로 저물어 가니, 여기에서 묵고 그대의 마음을 즐겁게 하라. 그리고 내일 일찍 그대가 그대의 길을 떠나면, 그대는 집에 갈 수 있으리라.” 하였더라.

9 And when the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father in law, the damsel's father, said unto him, Behold, now the day draweth toward evening, I pray you tarry all night: behold, the day groweth to an end, lodge here, that thine heart may be merry; and to morrow get you early on your way, that thou mayest go home.

10 그러나 그 남자가 그 밤을 지체하려고 하지 아니하였으니, 오히려 그가 일어나 떠났으며 여부스 맞은편에 도착하였으니, 여부스는 예루살렘이라. 그런즉 안장을 얹은 나귀 두 마리가 그와 함께 있었으며 그의 첩도 그와 함께 있었더라.

10 But the man would not tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came over against Jebus, which is Jerusalem; and there were with him two asses saddled, his concubine also was with him.

11 이윽고 그들이 여부스 옆에 있었을 때, 날이 많이 저물었더라. 그런즉 그 종이 자신의 주인에게 말하기를, “오소서, 제가 당신께 간구하오니, 우리가 여부스족들에게 속한 이 도시 안으로 향하여 그곳에서 묵는 것을 허락하소서.” 하였더라.

11 And when they were by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn in into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.

12 그러자 그의 주인이 그에게 말하기를, “우리는 여기로 길을 틀어 타국인의 도시 안으로 들어가지 아니하리니, 이곳은 이스라엘 자녀들에게 속하지 아니한 곳이라. 우리는 기브아로 넘어가리라.” 하였더라.

12 And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger, that is not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah.

13 그리고 그가 그의 종에게 말하기를, “오라, 그리하여 우리가 기브아나 라마흐의 이곳들 중 한 곳으로 가까이 가서 온밤을 묵자.” 하였더라.

13 And he said unto his servant, Come, and let us draw near to one of these places to lodge all night, in Gibeah, or in Ramah.

14 그런즉 그들이 계속 나아가 그들의 길을 갔더라. 그들이 베냐민에 속한 기브아 옆에 있을 때 해가 그들 위로 졌더라.

14 And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them when they were by Gibeah, which belongeth to Benjamin.

15 그리하여 그들이 들어가서 기브아에 묵으려고 거기로 길을 틀었더라. 그리고 그가 들어갔을 때 그는 도시의 어떤 거리 가운데 자리를 잡고 앉았더라. 이는 거기에서 그들을 자기 집으로 데려가서 묵게 하려는 사람이 아무도 없었기 때문이라.

15 And they turned aside thither, to go in and to lodge in Gibeah: and when he went in, he sat him down in a street of the city: for there was no man that took them into his house to lodging.

16 ¶ 그런데 보라, 한 노인이 저녁때에 밭에서 자기 일을 마치고 왔는데, 그 역시 에프라임산 출신이었더라. 또 그는 기브아에 체류하였으나 그곳 남자들은 베냐민족들이었더라.

16 ¶ And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim; and he sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place were Benjamites.

17 그런즉 그가 자신의 두 눈을 들어 올렸을 때, 그는 도시의 거리 가운데 도보로 여행하는 자가 있음을 보았더라. 그런즉 그 노인이 말하기를, “그대는 어디로 가는가? 그리고 그대는 어디에서 오는가?” 하였더라.

17 And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a wayfaring man in the street of the city: and the old man said, Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?

18 그러자 그가 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “저희는 베들레헴유다에서 와서 에프라임산 등성이로 넘어가나이다. 저는 그곳에서 왔나이다. 그리고 저는 베들레헴유다로 갔으나 이제는 제가 주의 집으로 가고 있나이다. 그런데 저를 집으로 영접하는 사람이 전혀 없나이다.

18 And he said unto him, We are passing from Bethlehemjudah toward the side of mount Ephraim; from thence am I: and I went to Bethlehemjudah, but I am now going to the house of the LORD; and there is no man that receiveth me to house.

19 그럼에도 저희의 나귀들을 위한 짚과 여물이 둘 다 있나이다. 그리고 저와 당신의 몸종과 당신의 종들과 함께 있는 청년을 위한 빵과 포도즙도 있사오니, 어느 것도 부족한 것이 없나이다.”

19 Yet there is both straw and provender for our asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy handmaid, and for the young man which is with thy servants: there is no want of any thing.

20 그런즉 노인이 말하기를, “평안이 너와 함께 있기를 바라노라. 너의 부족한 것들이 어떠하든지 모두 나에게 맡기라. 단, 길에서만은 묵지 말라.” 하였더라.

20 And the old man said, Peace be with thee; howsoever let all thy wants lie upon me; only lodge not in the street.

21 이처럼 그가 그를 자기 집 안으로 데리고 들어가서 나귀들에게 여물을 주었더라. 그리고 그들이 자신들의 발을 씻었으며, 먹고 마셨더라.

21 So he brought him into his house, and gave provender unto the asses: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.

22 ¶ 이제 그들이 자신들의 마음에 흥취를 돋우고 있을 때, 보라, 도시의 남자들이자 어떤 벨리알의 아들들이 집 주위를 에워싸고 문을 두들기며 그 집의 주인인 노인에게 일러 말하기를, “너의 집 안으로 들어온 남자를 내놓으라. 우리가 그를 알고자 함이라.” 하였더라.

22 ¶ Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.

23 그러자 집주인인 그 남자가 그들에게 나가서 그들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “아니 되느니라, 나의 형제들아, 아니 되느니라. 내가 너희에게 간구하노니, 그렇게 사악하게 행하지 말라. 이 남자가 내 집 안으로 들어온 것을 알면서 이렇게 어리석은 짓을 하지 말라.

23 And the man, the master of the house, went out unto them, and said unto them, Nay, my brethren, nay, I pray you, do not so wickedly; seeing that this man is come into mine house, do not this folly.

24 보라, 여기에 숫처녀인 내 딸이 있고 그의 첩이 있도다. 내가 이제 그들을 내보내겠으니, 너희는 그들을 비천하게 하고 그들을 데리고 너희가 보기에 좋은 대로 행하라. 그러나 이 남자에게는 그렇게 천박한 짓을 하나도 행하지 말라.”

24 Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man do not so vile a thing.

25 그러나 그 남자들이 그에게 경청하려 하지 아니하였더라. 그렇기에 그 남자가 그의 첩을 취하여 그녀를 그들에게 내보냈더라. 그러자 그들이 그녀를 알았고 그녀를 아침까지 밤새 욕보였더라. 그리고 여명이 터 오기 시작하였을 때 그들이 그녀를 가게 하였더라.

25 But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.

26 그날의 새벽이 밝아 오기 시작할 때 그제야 그 여자가 왔고, 그녀의 소유주가 있던 그 남자의 집의 문 앞에서 엎드린 채 날이 밝을 때까지 있었더라.

26 Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man's house where her lord was, till it was light.

27 이윽고 그녀의 소유주가 아침에 일어나서 그 집의 문들을 열고 자신의 길을 가려고 나갔더라. 그런데 보라, 그의 첩인 그 여자가 집의 문에 쓰러져 있었고 그녀의 두 손은 문지방 위에 있었더라.

27 And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way: and, behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, and her hands were upon the threshold.

28 그런즉 그가 그녀에게 말하기를, “일어나라. 그리고 우리는 가자.” 하였더라. 그러나 아무런 대답이 없었더라. 그때 그 남자가 나귀 위에 그녀를 실어 올렸으며, 그 남자가 일어나서 자신의 처소로 옮겨 갔더라.

28 And he said unto her, Up, and let us be going. But none answered. Then the man took her up upon an ass, and the man rose up, and gat him unto his place.

29 ¶ 그리고 그가 자기 집 안으로 들어왔을 때 그는 단도 하나를 취하여 그의 첩을 붙잡았으니, 그녀를 그녀의 뼈들과 함께 열두 조각으로 토막 내었고 그녀를 이스라엘의 온 지경들 안으로 보냈더라.

29 ¶ And when he was come into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, together with her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all the coasts of Israel.

30 그러자 이와 같은 일이 있었으니, 그것을 본 모두가 말하기를, “이스라엘 자녀들이 이집트 지역에서 올라온 날부터 이날까지 그러한 행동은 행해진 적도, 보인 적도 없느니라. 그것을 숙고하고 상의하여 너희의 생각들을 말하라.” 하였더라.

30 And it was so, that all that saw it said, There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt unto this day: consider of it, take advice, and speak your minds.
