마태복음 8장

1 그분께서 산에서 내려오셨을 때 수많은 무리들이 그분을 따랐더라.

1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

2 그런데 보라, 한 나병 환자가 와서 그분께 경배하며 말씀드리기를, “주여, 당신께서 원하시면, 당신께서는 저를 정결하게 하실 수 있나이다.” 하였더라.

2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

3 그러자 예수님께서 그분의 손을 내밀어 그를 만지시며 말씀하시기를, “내가 원하노니, 너는 정결해지라.” 하셨느니라. 그러자 즉시 그의 나병이 정결하여졌더라.

3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

4 이에 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “너는 아무에게도 알리지 않도록 주의하라. 다만 너의 길을 가서 제사장에게 자신을 내보이고 그들을 향한 간증으로 모세가 명령한 예물을 바치라.” 하시니라.

4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

5 ¶ 그러고 나서 예수님께서 가버나움으로 진입하셨을 때, 한 백부장이 그분께 와서, 그분께 간청하며

5 ¶ And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

6 말씀드리기를, “주여, 제 종이 끔찍하게 심한 고통을 당하며 중풍으로 집에 앓아누워 있나이다.” 하였더라.

6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

7 그러자 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “내가 가서 그를 치유하겠노라.” 하시니라.

7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

8 그 백부장이 대답하여 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “주여, 당신께서 저의 지붕 아래로 오셔야 할 만큼의 자격이 제게는 없사오니, 오직 말씀만 하시옵소서. 그리하면 저의 종이 치유될 것이니이다.

8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

9 이는 저도 권위 아래에 있는 사람이며 제 아래에 군인들을 두고 있기 때문이니이다. 그런즉 제가 이 사람에게 말하기를, ‘가라.’ 하면 그가 가고 또 다른 사람에게 ‘오라.’ 하면 그가 오나이다. 또 제 종에게 ‘이것을 하라.’ 하면 그가 그것을 하나이다.”

9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

10 예수님께서 그것을 들으셨을 때 그분께서는 놀라워하셨으며 자신을 따르는 자들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘나는 이처럼 대단한 믿음을 발견한 적이 없나니, 없도다, 이스라엘에는 없도다.’

10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

11 그런즉 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘많은 이들이 동쪽과 서쪽에서 올 것이요, 하늘의 왕국에서 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱과 함께 앉을 것이라.

11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12 그러나 왕국의 자녀들은 바깥 어둠 속으로 내던져지리니, 거기에는 울며 이를 가는 일이 있으리라.’”

12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13 그러면서 예수님께서 백부장에게 말씀하시기를, “너의 길을 가라. 그리하면 네가 믿은 대로 그것이 너에게 그렇게 이루어지리라.” 하셨느니라. 그러자 그의 종이 바로 그 시각에 치유되었더라.

13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

14 ¶ 이후에 예수님께서 베드로의 집으로 들어오셨을 때, 그분께서 그의 아내의 어머니가 열병으로 인해 앓아서 눕혀져 있는 것을 보셨더라.

14 ¶ And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

15 이에 그분께서 그녀의 손을 만지시니, 그 열병이 그녀를 떠났더라. 그러자 그녀가 일어나 그들을 섬겼더라.

15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

16 ¶ 저녁이 되자 그들이 마귀들에게 점유된 많은 이들을 그분께 데려왔더라. 그러자 그분께서 그분의 말씀으로 그 영들을 쫓아내셨으며, 병든 자들을 모두 치유하셨더라.

16 ¶ When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

17 이는 예언자 이사-야에 의하여 언급된 것이 성취되게 하려 하심이라. 말씀하시기를, “그분께서 친히 우리의 병약함들을 가져가셨으며 우리의 병들을 짊어지셨도다.” 하신 것이라.

17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

18 ¶ 이때 예수님께서 자신의 주위에 있는 수많은 무리들을 보시자, 그분께서 명령을 내리시어 그들을 반대편으로 떠나게 하셨더라.

18 ¶ Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

19 이에 어떤 서기관 한 명이 왔으니, 그분께 말씀드리기를, “스승이여, 저는 당신께서 어디로 가시든지 당신을 따르겠나이다.” 하였더라.

19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

20 그러자 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “여우들도 굴들이 있으며, 공중의 새들도 보금자리들이 있으나 인자는 그의 머리를 누일 곳이 없도다.” 하시니라.

20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

21 그러고 나서 그분의 제자들 중 또 다른 이가 그분께 말씀드리기를, “주여, 먼저 제가 가서 저의 아버지를 장사하도록 허락하여 주소서.” 하였더라.

21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

22 그러나 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “나를 따르라. 그리고 죽은 자들로 하여금 그들의 죽은 자들을 장사하게 하라.” 하셨느니라.

22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

23 ¶ 그러고 나서 그분께서 선박 안으로 들어가셨을 때 그분의 제자들이 그분을 따랐더라.

23 ¶ And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24 그런데 보라, 그 선박이 파도들로 덮일 정도로 바다에 엄청난 광풍이 일었더라. 그러나 그분께서는 주무셨더라.

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25 그러자 그분의 제자들이 그분께 와서 그분을 깨우며 말씀드리기를, “주여, 우리를 구원하소서. 우리가 죽나이다.” 하였더라.

25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26 이에 그분께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “오, 너희, 믿음이 적은 자들아, 어찌하여 너희는 두려워하느냐?” 하시니라. 그때 그분께서 일어나시어 바람들과 바다를 꾸짖으셨으니, 대단히 고요해졌더라.

26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

27 그러나 그 사람들은 놀라워하며 말하기를, “이분은 어떤 부류의 사람이시기에 심지어 바람들과 바다도 그분께 순종하는가!” 하였더라.

27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

28 ¶ 이후에 그분께서 반대편에 있는 겔게사인들의 지방으로 들어가시자 거기에 마귀들에 점유된 두 명이 묘지들에서 나와 그분을 만났는데 극도로 사나워서 아무도 그 길로 지나가지 못하였더라.

28 ¶ And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

29 그런데 보라, 그들이 고함을 지르며 말씀드리기를, “예수님, 하나님의 아들이신 당신이여, 우리가 당신과 무슨 상관이 있나이까? 당신께서는 때가 되기 전에 우리를 심히 고통스럽게 하려고 이리로 오신 것이니이까?” 하였더라.

29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

30 그런데 먹이를 먹고 있는 많은 돼지들의 떼가 그들에게서 적잖이 떨어져 있었더라.

30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

31 그렇기에 그 마귀들이 그분께 간청하며 말씀드리기를, “만일 당신께서 우리를 쫓아내신다면, 우리가 돼지 떼 속으로 떠나가는 것을 승낙하여 주소서.” 하였더라.

31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

32 그러자 그분께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “가라.” 하셨느니라. 이에 그들이 나오자 그들은 돼지 떼 속으로 들어갔더라. 그리고 보라, 돼지 떼 전체가 가파른 곳을 난폭하게 내달려 바닷속에 들어가 물들에 빠져 죽었더라.

32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

33 그러자 그것들을 지키던 자들이 도망하였고 자신들의 길로 가서 도시 안으로 들어갔더라. 그리고 마귀들에게 점유된 자들에게 일어난 일과 각각의 모든 일을 알렸더라.

33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

34 보라, 그리하여 도시 전체가 예수님을 만나러 나아왔더라. 그리고 그들이 그분을 보았을 때 그들은 그분께서 자신들의 변경들에서 떠나 주시기를 그분께 간청하였더라.

34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
