민수기 35장
1 그런 다음에 예리코에서 가까운 요르단 옆 모압의 평야들 가운데서 주께서 모세에게 이같이 일러 말씀하셨느니라.
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,
2 “이스라엘 자녀들에게 명령하여 그들로 하여금 자신들 소유의 유산에서 레위인들에게 그 안에 거할 도시들을 주게 하라. 그리고 너희는 또한 그 도시들 주위에 있는 그것들의 외곽 지역들을 레위인들에게 줄지니라.
2 Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.
3 그리하여 그들이 그 안에 거해야 할 도시들을 얻으리라. 그리고 그것들의 외곽 지역들은 그들의 가축들을 위하여, 그들의 소유물들을 위하여, 그들의 모든 짐승들을 위하여 있으리라.
3 And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
4 그리고 너희가 레위인들에게 줄 그 도시들의 외곽 지역들은 도시의 성벽에서부터 바깥쪽으로 주위의 일천 큐빗에 다다르리라.
4 And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.
5 또 너희는 그 도시 바깥부터 동편으로 이천 큐빗, 남편으로 이천 큐빗, 서편으로 이천 큐빗, 북편으로 이천 큐빗을 측량할지니라. 그런즉 그 도시가 한가운데 있으리라. 이것이 그들에게 도시들의 외곽 지역들이 되리라.
5 And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.
6 그리고 너희가 레위인들에게 줄 도시들 가운데 너희가 지정할 여섯 도시는 살인범을 위한 피난처가 되리니, 그로 하여금 그리로 도피하게 하려 함이라. 그런즉 너희는 그것들에다 사십이 개의 도시들을 더할지니라.
6 And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.
7 그렇게 하여 너희가 레위인들에게 줄 도시들은 모두 마흔여덟 개니라. 너희는 그것들과 더불어 그것들의 외곽 지역들도 줄지니라.
7 So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.
8 그리고 너희가 줄 도시들은 이스라엘 자녀들의 소유에서 취하리니, 많이 가진 자들에게서는 너희가 많이 받아 줄지니라. 그러나 적게 가진 자들에게서는 너희가 적게 받아 줄지니라. 모든 이마다 자기 도시들 중에서 취하여 레위인들에게 줄지니, 자신이 상속받는 자기 유산에 따라 줄지니라.”
8 And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.
9 ¶ 그리고 주께서 모세에게 이같이 일러 말씀하셨느니라.
9 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
10 “이스라엘 자녀들에게 일러 그들에게 이같이 말하라. ‘너희가 요르단을 넘어와서 가나안 지역으로 들어온다면,
10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;
11 그때 너희는 너희를 위한 피난 도시들을 너희에게 지정해 둘지니, 부지중에 어떤 인간을 죽인 살해자가 그리로 도피하게 하려 함이라.
11 Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.
12 그리하여 너희를 위해 그것들이 복수하는 자로부터 피난하기 위한 도시들이 되리니, 그 살해범이 재판으로 회중 앞에 서기까지는 그가 죽지 않게 하려 함이라.
12 And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.
13 그런즉 너희가 주어야 하는 이 도시들 중에서 여섯 개의 도시들을 너희가 피난처로 둘지니라.
13 And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.
14 세 개의 도시들은 너희가 요르단 이편에서 주어야 하며, 세 개의 도시들은 너희가 가나안 지역 가운데서 주어야 하나니, 그곳들은 피난 도시들이 되리라.
14 Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.
15 이 여섯 개의 도시들은 이스라엘 자녀들을 위해서도, 타국인을 위해서도, 그들 가운데 있는 체류자들을 위해서도 피난처가 되리니, 부지중에 어떤 인간을 죽인 모든 자마다 그리로 도망칠 수 있게 하려 함이라.
15 These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.
16 그런데 만일 그가 어떤 철제 도구로 사람을 쳐서 그 사람이 죽는다면, 그는 살인자니라. 그 살인자는 반드시 사형에 처해져야 하리라.
16 And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
17 그리고 만일 그가 그것으로 사람이 죽을 수도 있는 돌을 던짐으로써 사람을 쳐서 그 사람이 죽는다면, 그는 살인자니라. 그 살인자는 반드시 사형에 처해져야 하리라.
17 And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
18 또는 만일 그가 그것으로 사람이 죽을 수도 있는 목제 무기를 한 손에 든 채 사람을 쳐서 그 사람이 죽는다면, 그는 살인자니라. 그 살인자는 반드시 사형에 처해져야 하리라.
18 Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
19 피의 보복자가 직접 그 살인자를 살해할지니라. 그가 그를 만날 때 그는 그를 살해할지니라.
19 The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.
20 그러나 만일 그가 증오하여 사람을 밀치거나 숨어 기다리다가 그 사람에게 무엇을 투척하여 그가 죽는 경우,
20 But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;
21 또는 적대심에 자기 손으로 누구를 타격하여 그가 죽는 경우, 그를 타격한 자는 반드시 사형에 처해져야 하리라. 이는 그가 살인자이기 때문이라. 피의 보복자가 그 살인자를 만날 때 그는 그를 살해할지니라.
21 Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.
22 그러나 만일 그가 적대심 없이 갑자기 그를 밀치거나 숨어 기다리지 않고 어떤 것을 그의 위에 던진 경우,
22 But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,
23 또는 그것으로 사람이 죽을 수도 있는 어떤 돌이 있었는데 그를 보지 못한 채 그것을 그의 위에 던져서 그가 죽는 경우, 그의 원수도 아니며 그에게 해를 입히려고 하지도 않았다면,
23 Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:
24 그때 회중은 살해자와 피의 보복자 사이를 이 공의로운 법규들에 따라 재판할지니라.
24 Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:
25 그리하여 회중은 그 살해자를 그 피의 보복자의 손에서 구출할지니, 회중은 그가 피신한 그의 피난 도시로 그를 복귀시킬지니라. 그리하면 그는 거룩한 기름으로 기름 부음을 받은 대제사장이 사망할 때까지 그 안에 거할지니라.
25 And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.
26 그러나 만일 그 살해자가 어느 때라도 그가 피신했던 그의 피난 도시의 경계 밖으로 나오는 경우,
26 But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;
27 그리고 그 피의 보복자가 그의 피난 도시의 경계들 밖에서 그를 발견하여 그 피의 보복자가 그 살해자를 죽이는 경우, 그는 피에 관하여 유죄가 되지 아니하리라.
27 And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:
28 이는 그가 대제사장이 사망할 때까지 자기 피난 도시 안에 남아 있어야만 했기 때문이라. 그러나 대제사장의 사망 이후에 그 살해자는 자기 소유의 지역 가운데로 되돌아갈지니라.
28 Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.
29 그렇게 하여 이러한 것들은 너희의 모든 주거지들에서 너희의 세대들에 걸쳐 너희에게 판결의 규례가 되리라.
29 So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
30 누구나 어떤 인간을 죽이는 살인자는 증인들의 입으로 사형에 처해져야 하리라. 그러나 한 명의 증인이 어떤 인간을 대적하여 증언해서는 그로 하여금 죽게 하지 말지니라.
30 Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.
31 이뿐만 아니라 너희는 사망에 대한 책임이 있는 살인자의 생명을 위하여 배상금을 받지 말지니라. 다만 그는 반드시 사형에 처해져야 하리라.
31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.
32 그리고 너희는 제사장이 사망할 때까지 자기 피난 도시로 피신하는 자를 위하여 배상금을 받지 말지니, 그가 다시 나와서 그 지역 가운데 거하지 못하게 하려 함이라.
32 And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
33 그렇게 하여 너희는 너희가 거하는 그 지역을 오염시키지 말지니라. 이는 그 일이 피로 인하여 그 지역을 더럽히기 때문이라. 그런즉 그 피를 흘리게 한 자의 피에 의하지 않고서는 그곳에서 흘려진 그 피로부터 그 지역이 정결하게 될 수 없느니라.
33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
34 그러므로 너희가 거주할 그 지역을 더럽히지 말지니, 그곳에 내가 거하느니라. 이는 나 주가 이스라엘 자녀들 가운데 거하기 때문이라.’”
34 Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.
