출애굽기 21장

1 이제 이것들은 네가 그들 앞에 세워야 할 공의로운 법규들이라.

1 Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.

2 만일 네가 히브리인 종을 사면 그는 육 년 동안 섬길지니라. 그런 다음에 칠 년째에 그는 값을 치르지 않고 자유로이 나갈지니라.

2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

3 만일 그가 혼자 들어왔다면 그는 혼자 나갈지니라. 만일 그가 혼인하였다면 그때는 그의 아내도 그와 함께 나갈지니라.

3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.

4 만일 그의 주인이 그에게 아내를 주었고 그녀가 그에게 아들들이나 딸들을 낳아 주었다면 그 아내와 그녀의 자식들은 그녀의 주인에게 속할지니, 그는 혼자 나갈지니라.

4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.

5 그런데 만일 그 종이 명료하게 말하기를, ‘나는 나의 주인과 나의 아내와 나의 자식들을 사랑하노라. 나는 자유로이 나가지 않겠노라.’ 한다면,

5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:

6 그때 그의 주인은 그를 판관들에게 데려갈지니라. 그는 또한 그를 문으로나 문틀로 데려갈지니, 그의 주인은 송곳으로 그의 귀를 뚫을지니라. 그리하면 그는 계속하여 그를 섬기리라.

6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

7 ¶ 그리고 만일 어떤 남자가 자기 딸을 여종으로 판다면 그녀는 남종들이 하듯이 나가지 말지니라.

7 ¶ And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.

8 만일 그녀가 그녀를 자신에게로 정혼시킨 그녀의 주인을 기쁘게 하지 못한다면 그때 그는 그녀로 하여금 구속받을 수 있게 할지니라. 그가 그녀를 가득한 속임수로 대하였으므로 그는 타국 민족에게로 그녀를 팔 수 있는 권한이 없을 것이라.

8 If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.

9 그리고 만일 그가 그녀를 자기 아들과 정혼시켰다면 그는 딸들을 대하는 방식에 따라 그녀를 대할지니라.

9 And if he have betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.

10 만일 그가 또 다른 아내를 취한다면 그는 그녀의 양식과 그녀의 의상과 그녀와의 혼인의 의무를 줄이지 말지니라.

10 If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.

11 그리고 만일 그가 그녀에게 이 세 가지를 행하지 않는다면 그때 그녀는 돈을 내지 않고 자유로이 나갈지니라.

11 And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out free without money.

12 ¶ 사람을 쳐서 그를 죽게 한 자는 반드시 사형에 처해질지니라.

12 ¶ He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.

13 그리고 만일 어떤 사람이 숨어서 기다리지 않았으나 하나님이 그를 그의 손안에 넘겨주었다면 그때는 내가 한 장소를 너에게 지정하리니, 그는 그곳으로 도망칠지니라.

13 And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.

14 그러나 만일 어떤 사람이 자신의 이웃에게 고의로 와서 그를 간교한 속임수로 살해하였다면 너는 그를 내 제단에서 끌어내어 그로 하여금 죽게 할지니라.

14 But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.

15 ¶ 그리고 자기 아버지나 자기 어머니를 치는 자는 반드시 사형에 처해질지니라.

15 ¶ And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.

16 ¶ 그리고 사람을 훔쳐서 그를 팔거나 그가 그의 손안에 발견된 자라면 그는 반드시 사형에 처해질지니라.

16 ¶ And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

17 ¶ 그리고 자기 아버지나 자기 어머니를 저주하는 자는 반드시 사형에 처해질지니라.

17 ¶ And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.

18 ¶ 그리고 만일 사람들이 함께 분쟁하다가 한 명이 다른 이를 돌이나 자기 주먹으로 쳐서 그가 죽지는 않았으나 그의 침상에 누워있다가

18 ¶ And if men strive together, and one smite another with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keepeth his bed:

19 그가 다시 일어나서 자기 지팡이를 짚고 밖을 걸어 다닌다면 그때는 그를 쳤던 자가 형벌을 면하리라. 단, 그는 그의 시간의 손실을 지불할지니, 그로 하여금 전적으로 치유받게 할지니라.

19 If he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit: only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.

20 ¶ 그리고 만일 어떤 사람이 자신의 종이나 자신의 하녀를 막대기로 쳐서 그가 그의 손 아래에서 죽는다면 그는 반드시 형벌을 받을지니라.

20 ¶ And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.

21 그럼에도 불구하고 만일 그가 하루나 이틀이라도 생명을 부지한다면 그는 형벌을 받지 아니하리라. 이는 그가 그의 돈이기 때문이라.

21 Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.

22 ¶ 만일 사람들이 분쟁하다가 아이를 밴 여자를 다치게 하여 그녀의 열매가 그녀에게서 떨어졌는데도 불구하고 위해가 뒤따르지 않는다면 그는 반드시 그 여자의 남편이 그에게 부과하는 것에 따라 형벌을 받을지니, 그는 판관들이 결정하는 대로 지불할지니라.

22 ¶ If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

23 그런데 만일 어떤 위해가 뒤따른다면 그때 너는 생명에는 생명으로 갚을지니,

23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

24 눈에는 눈으로, 이에는 이로, 손에는 손으로, 발에는 발로,

24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

25 화상에는 화상으로, 상처에는 상처로, 매에는 매로 갚을지니라.

25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

26 ¶ 그리고 만일 어떤 사람이 그의 종의 눈이나 그의 하녀의 눈을 쳐서 그것이 망가진다면 그는 그의 눈으로 인하여 그를 자유로이 가게 할지니라.

26 ¶ And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.

27 그리고 만일 그가 그의 남종의 치아나 그의 여종의 치아를 쳐서 빠지게 한다면 그는 그의 치아로 인하여 그를 자유로이 가게 할지니라.

27 And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.

28 ¶ 만일 어떤 소가 남자나 여자를 들이받아서 그들이 죽는다면 그때 그 소는 반드시 돌에 맞아 죽을지니, 그의 고기는 섭취되지 말아야 하리라. 다만 그 소의 소유자는 형벌을 면하리라.

28 ¶ If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.

29 그러나 만일 그 소가 과거에도 그의 뿔로 받는 버릇이 있었으며 그것이 그의 소유자에게 증언되었는데도 그가 그를 가두지 아니하였고, 오히려 그가 남자나 여자를 죽였다면 그 소는 돌에 맞아 죽을지니, 그의 소유자 또한 사형에 처해질지니라.

29 But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death.

30 만일 그에게 일정액의 청구금이 부과되면 그때 그는 자신에게 부과된 것이 무엇이든지 간에 그의 생명에 대한 속죄물로 내야 할지니라.

30 If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.

31 그가 아들을 들이받았든지 딸을 들이받았든지 이 공의로운 법규에 따라 그것이 그에게 이루어져야 하리라.

31 Whether he have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.

32 만일 그 소가 남종이나 여종을 받는다면 그는 그들의 주인에게 은 삼십 셰켈을 줄 것이요, 그 소는 돌에 맞아 죽을지니라.

32 If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.

33 ¶ 그리고 만일 어떤 사람이 구렁을 열거나 어떤 사람이 구렁을 파놓고 그것을 덮어 놓지 않아서 소나 나귀가 그 안에 빠진다면

33 ¶ And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein;

34 그 구렁의 소유자가 그것을 물어 주고 그것들의 소유자에게 대금을 줄지니, 그 죽은 짐승은 그의 것이 될지니라.

34 The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his.

35 ¶ 그리고 만일 어떤 남자의 소가 다른 이의 소를 다치게 해서 그가 죽는다면 그때 그들은 살아 있는 소를 팔아서 그것의 대금을 나눌지니라. 그리고 죽은 소 또한 그들이 나눌지니라.

35 ¶ And if one man's ox hurt another's, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide.

36 그런데 만일 그 소가 과거에도 받는 버릇이 있는 것이 알려져 있는데도 그의 소유주가 그를 가두지 않았다면 그는 반드시 소를 소로 지불할지니, 죽은 것이 그의 소유가 될지니라.

36 Or if it be known that the ox hath used to push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.
