여호수아기 3장

1 그리고 여호수아가 아침에 일찍 일어났더라. 그런 다음에 그들, 곧 그와 온 이스라엘 자녀들이 싯팀에서 자리를 옮겨 요르단으로 왔고, 그들이 넘어가기 전에 거기서 묵었더라.

1 And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.

2 그리고 삼 일 후에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 관원들이 군대를 두루 다녔더라.

2 And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host;

3 그러면서 그들이 백성에게 명령하며 이같이 말하였더라. “너희가 주 너희 하나님의 언약궤와 그것을 짊어진 레위인 제사장들을 볼 때면, 그때 너희는 너희의 처소에서 이동하여 그것을 좇아갈지니라.

3 And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.

4 그렇지만 너희와 그것 사이에는 간격이 있어야 하리니, 측량하여 약 이천 큐빗이 되어야 하리라. 그것에 가까이 오지 말지니, 너희로 하여금 너희가 반드시 가야 할 길을 알게 하려 함이라. 이는 너희가 여태까지 이 길을 지난 적이 없기 때문이라.”

4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.

5 그리고 여호수아가 백성에게 말하기를, “너희 자신을 성결하게 구별하라. 이는 주께서 내일 너희 가운데서 이적들을 행하실 것이기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.

6 이어서 여호수아가 제사장들에게 일러 말하기를, “언약궤를 위로 들고 백성 앞에서 넘어가라.” 하였더라. 그러자 그들이 언약궤를 위로 들고 백성 앞에서 나아갔더라.

6 And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.

7 ¶ 이윽고 주께서 여호수아에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “이날 내가 온 이스라엘의 목전에서 너를 드높이기 시작하리니, 내가 모세와 함께 있던 것같이 내가 너와 그렇게 함께 있을 것임을 그들로 하여금 알게 하려 함이라.

7 ¶ And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.

8 그런즉 너는 언약궤를 짊어지는 제사장들에게 명령하며 말하기를, ‘너희가 요르단의 물기슭에 이를 때면, 너희는 요르단 안에서 가만히 서 있을지니라.’ 할지니라.”

8 And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.

9 ¶ 그러자 여호수아가 이스라엘 자녀들에게 말하기를, “이리 와서 주 너희 하나님의 말씀들을 들으라.” 하였더라.

9 ¶ And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of the LORD your God.

10 이어서 여호수아가 이같이 말하였더라. “이로써 너희는 살아 계신 하나님께서 너희 가운데 계시는 것과 그분께서 가나안족들과 히타이트족들과 히위족들과 프리즈족들과 기르가시족들과 아모리족들과 여부스족들을 너희 앞에서 실패 없이 내쫓으실 것임을 알리라.

10 And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

11 보라, 온 땅의 주의 언약궤가 너희 앞에서 요르단 안으로 들어가 넘어가느니라.

11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan.

12 그러므로 이제 너희는 이스라엘의 지파들 중 모든 지파에서 저마다 한 사람씩 열두 명의 남자들을 뽑으라.

12 Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man.

13 그리하면 온 땅의 주이신 주의 법궤를 짊어지는 제사장들의 발바닥이 요르단의 물들 속에서 안식하자마자 이러한 일이 있으리니, 요르단의 물들이 위에서 흘러내리는 물들부터 끊어지리라. 그런즉 그 물들이 한 무더기로 그 위에 서리라.”

13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.

14 ¶ 그러자 이러한 일이 있었으니, 백성과 백성 앞에서 언약궤를 짊어지는 제사장들이 요르단을 넘어가려고 자신들의 천막들에서 이동하였을 때,

14 ¶ And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;

15 그리고 법궤를 짊어지는 자들이 요르단에 도착하고 법궤를 짊어지는 제사장들의 발이 물 언저리에 잠겼을 때, (이는 모든 수확기에는 요르단이 그의 모든 둑들에 범람하기 때문이라.)

15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)

16 위에서 흘러내린 물들이 일어섰고 자르탄 옆에 있는 도시인 아담에서 아주 멀리 떨어진 곳에 한 무더기로 솟아 올랐더라. 그리고 평야의 바다, 곧 염해로 내려가는 물들이 그쳐서 끊어졌더라. 그리하여 백성이 예리코 바로 맞은편으로 넘어갔더라.

16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.

17 그리고 주의 언약궤를 짊어진 제사장들은 요르단 한가운데서 마른 땅바닥 위에 굳건하게 섰고 모든 이스라엘인들은 마른 땅바닥 위를 넘어갔으니, 모든 백성이 빠짐없이 요르단을 넘어갈 때까지 그리하였더라.

17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.
