사무엘기상 18장

1 그런즉 그가 사울에게 고하는 것을 끝마쳤을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 요나단의 혼이 다윗의 혼과 결속되었고 요나단이 그를 자기 자신의 혼과 같이 사랑하였더라.

1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

2 그리고 사울은 그날 그를 붙잡고 그가 더 이상 그의 아버지의 집인 본고향으로 가는 것을 허락하지 아니하였더라.

2 And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house.

3 그때 요나단과 다윗이 언약을 맺었으니, 이는 그가 다윗을 자기 자신의 혼과 같이 사랑하였기 때문이라.

3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

4 그런즉 요나단이 자신이 착용하고 있던 관복을 스스로 벗어서 그것을 다윗에게 주었으니, 그의 의복들과 심지어 그의 칼과 그의 활과 그의 허리띠도 그리하였더라.

4 And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.

5 ¶ 그리고 다윗은 사울이 자신을 어디로 내보내든지 나가서 스스로 지혜롭게 처신하였더라. 그런즉 사울이 그를 전사들을 다스리도록 세웠으니, 그가 모든 백성의 목전에서, 또한 사울의 종들의 목전에서 기꺼이 받아들여졌더라.

5 ¶ And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants.

6 그리고 다윗이 그 필리스티아인을 살육하는 것을 마치고 되돌아왔을 때 그들이 오는 동안 이러한 일이 있었으니, 이스라엘의 모든 도시들에서 나온 여자들이 작은북들과 음악을 위한 악기들을 가지고 즐거워하며 노래하고 춤추면서 사울왕을 맞이하러 나왔더라.

6 And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick.

7 그러면서 여자들이 연주하는 동안 그들은 서로 화답하며 말하기를, “사울이 살해한 자는 수천이요, 다윗이 살해한 자는 수만이라.” 하였더라.

7 And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

8 그러자 사울이 몹시 격노하였으니, 그들이 말한 것이 그를 불쾌하게 하였더라. 그런즉 그가 말하기를, “그들이 다윗에게 수만을 돌리고는 나에게 고작 수천을 돌렸도다. 그런즉 그가 왕국 외에 무엇을 더 가질 수 있겠느냐?” 하였더라.

8 And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?

9 그런즉 그날 이후로 사울이 다윗을 눈여겨보았더라.

9 And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.

10 ¶ 그리고 이튿날에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 하나님께로부터 온 악한 영이 사울에게 임하였고 그가 집 한가운데서 예언하였더라. 그리고 다윗은 다른 때들과 같이 그의 손으로 연주를 하였더라. 그런데 사울의 손에는 단창 하나가 있었더라.

10 ¶ And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul's hand.

11 이윽고 사울이 그 단창을 던졌으니, 이는 그가 말하기를, “내가 이것으로 다윗을 쳐서 벽에다 바로 꽂아버리겠노라.” 하였기 때문이라. 그리하여 다윗은 그의 면전에서 두 번이나 피하였더라.

11 And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

12 ¶ 그런즉 사울이 다윗을 무서워하였으니, 주께서 그와 함께 계셨으나 사울에게서는 떠나셨기 때문이라.

12 ¶ And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul.

13 그러므로 사울이 그를 옮겨 자신을 떠나게 하였으니, 그를 자신의 천인대장으로 삼았더라. 그리하여 그가 백성 앞에서 나가고 들어왔더라.

13 Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.

14 그런데 다윗은 그의 모든 길들 가운데서 스스로 지혜롭게 처신하였더라. 그리고 주께서 그와 함께하셨더라.

14 And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.

15 이러한 이유로 그가 스스로 매우 지혜롭게 처신하는 것을 사울이 보았을 때 그는 다윗을 무서워하였더라.

15 Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.

16 그러나 모든 이스라엘과 유다가 다윗을 사랑하였으니, 그가 그들 앞에서 나가고 들어왔기 때문이라.

16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.

17 ¶ 이후에 사울이 다윗에게 말하기를, “나의 장녀 메랍을 보라. 내가 그녀를 너에게 아내로 주겠노라. 오직 너는 나를 위하여 용맹해져서 주의 전투들을 치르라.” 하였더라. 이는 사울이 말하기를, “나의 손이 그의 위에 임하지 않게 하고 다만 필리스티아인들의 손이 그의 위에 임하게 하자.” 하였기 때문이라.

17 ¶ And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou valiant for me, and fight the LORD'S battles. For Saul said, Let not mine hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.

18 그러자 다윗이 사울에게 말하기를, “제가 누구니이까? 그리고 제 생명이 무엇이며, 이스라엘 안에서 저의 아버지의 가문이 무엇이기에 제가 왕께 사위가 되겠나이까?” 하였더라.

18 And David said unto Saul, Who am I? and what is my life, or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son in law to the king?

19 그러나 사울의 딸인 메랍이 다윗에게 주어져야 했던 때에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그녀가 므홀랏족인 아드리엘에게 아내로 주어졌더라.

19 But it came to pass at the time when Merab Saul's daughter should have been given to David, that she was given unto Adriel the Meholathite to wife.

20 그런데 사울의 딸인 미칼이 다윗을 사랑하였더라. 이에 그들이 사울에게 알렸더니, 그것이 그를 기쁘게 하였더라.

20 And Michal Saul's daughter loved David: and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.

21 그리하여 사울이 말하기를, “내가 그녀를 그에게 주겠노라. 이는 그녀로 하여금 그에게 올무가 되게 하려 함이요, 필리스티아인들의 손이 그를 대적하게 하려 함이라.” 하였더라. 이러한 이유로 사울이 다윗에게 말하기를, “너는 이날에 나의 사위가 되어 두 명의 사위 중 한 명이 되리라.” 하였더라.

21 And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, Thou shalt this day be my son in law in the one of the twain.

22 ¶ 그러면서 사울이 자기 종들에게 명령하며 말하기를, “다윗과 은밀히 대화하라. 그리고 이같이 말하라. ‘보라, 왕이 너를 크게 즐거워하시고 그의 모든 종들이 너를 사랑하는도다. 그러므로 이제 왕의 사위가 되라.’” 하였더라.

22 ¶ And Saul commanded his servants, saying, Commune with David secretly, and say, Behold, the king hath delight in thee, and all his servants love thee: now therefore be the king's son in law.

23 그런즉 사울의 종들이 다윗의 두 귀에 그러한 말들을 이야기하였더라. 이에 다윗이 말하기를, “나는 가난하고 하찮게 여겨지는 사람이거늘 왕의 사위 중 한 명이 된다는 것이 너희에게는 가벼운 일로 보이느냐?” 하였더라.

23 And Saul's servants spake those words in the ears of David. And David said, Seemeth it to you a light thing to be a king's son in law, seeing that I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed?

24 그러자 사울의 종들이 그에게 알리며 말하기를, “다윗이 이러한 식으로 이야기하였나이다.” 하였더라.

24 And the servants of Saul told him, saying, On this manner spake David.

25 이에 사울이 말하기를 “너희는 다윗에게 이같이 말할지니라. ‘왕은 어떤 지참금도 탐내지 아니하시고 오직 필리스티아인들의 포피들 일백 개로 왕의 원수들에게 복수가 이루어지기를 간절히 바라시느니라.’” 하였더라. 그러나 사울은 필리스티아인들의 손에 의하여 다윗이 쓰러지게 하려고 작정하였더라.

25 And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

26 그리하여 그의 종들이 다윗에게 이러한 말들을 알리자 왕의 사위가 된다는 것이 다윗을 매우 기쁘게 하였더라. 그리고 그날들이 아직 만료되지 않았더라.

26 And when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king's son in law: and the days were not expired.

27 이러한 이유로 다윗이 일어나서 나갔으니, 그와 그의 사람들이 함께하여 필리스티아인들 중 이백 명의 남자들을 살해하였더라. 그리하여 다윗이 그들의 포피들을 가져왔고, 그들이 왕에게 수량을 꽉 채워서 그것들을 주었으니, 그가 왕의 사위가 되게 하려 함이라. 그런즉 사울이 그에게 자기 딸 미칼을 아내로 주었더라.

27 Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the king's son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.

28 ¶ 그리고 사울은 주께서 다윗과 함께하시는 것과 사울의 딸인 미칼이 그를 사랑한 것을 보고 알았더라.

28 ¶ And Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David, and that Michal Saul's daughter loved him.

29 그러자 사울은 다윗을 더욱더 무서워하였더라. 그런즉 사울이 지속적으로 다윗의 원수가 되었더라.

29 And Saul was yet the more afraid of David; and Saul became David's enemy continually.

30 그때 필리스티아인들의 통치자들이 출진하였더라. 그리고 그들이 출진한 뒤에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 다윗이 사울의 모든 종들보다 스스로 더욱 지혜롭게 처신하였더라. 그렇기에 그의 이름이 매우 귀중하게 여겨졌더라.

30 Then the princes of the Philistines went forth: and it came to pass, after they went forth, that David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul; so that his name was much set by.
