사무엘기상 5장

1 그러고 나서 필리스티아인들이 하나님의 법궤를 빼앗아 그것을 에벤에젤에서 아슈돗으로 가져갔더라.

1 And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.

2 필리스티아인들이 하나님의 법궤를 빼앗아 갔을 때 그들이 그것을 다곤의 집 안에 들였고 그것을 다곤 옆에 놓았더라.

2 When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

3 ¶ 그리고 아슈돗에 속한 그들이 이튿날 일찍 일어났을 때, 보라, 다곤이 주의 법궤 앞에서 그의 얼굴을 땅에 대고 쓰러져 있었더라. 그러자 그들이 다곤을 집어서 그를 그의 위치에 다시 두었더라.

3 ¶ And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

4 이윽고 그들이 이튿날 아침에 일찍 일어났을 때, 보라, 다곤이 주의 법궤 앞에서 그의 얼굴을 땅바닥에 대고 쓰러져 있었더라. 그리고 다곤의 머리와 그의 두 손바닥은 잘려 나가서 문지방 위에 있었더라. 다곤의 몸통만 그에게 남겨졌더라.

4 And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

5 그러므로 다곤의 제사장들이나 다곤의 집 안으로 들어가는 누구도 아슈돗에 있는 다곤의 문지방을 밟지 아니하니 오늘날까지 이르니라.

5 Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.

6 그러나 주의 손이 아슈돗에 속한 자들에게 엄중하여 그분께서 그들을 멸하시고 치핵들로 그들을 치셨으니, 곧 아슈돗과 그곳의 지경들이라.

6 But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof.

7 그리고 아슈돗 사람들이 그렇게 된 것을 보았을 때, 그들이 말하기를, “이스라엘의 하나님의 법궤가 우리와 함께 거하지 못하리라. 이는 그분의 손이 우리와 우리의 신 다곤 위에 고통스럽게 임하기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

7 And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.

8 그러므로 그들이 사람을 보내서 필리스티아인들의 모든 군주들을 모아 그들에게 말하기를, “우리가 이스라엘의 하나님의 법궤를 어찌해야 하겠는가?” 하였더라. 그러자 그들이 대답하기를, “이스라엘의 하나님의 법궤가 가드 근처로 옮겨지게 하라.” 하였더라. 이에 그들이 이스라엘의 하나님의 법궤를 그 근처로 옮겼더라.

8 They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither.

9 그러자 이와 같은 일이 있었으니, 그들이 그것을 근처로 옮긴 뒤에 주의 손이 몹시 커다란 멸망으로 그 도시를 대적하셨더라. 그리하여 그분께서 그 도시의 사람들을 작은 자, 큰 자 할 것 없이 치셨으니, 그들에게 치핵들이 그들의 은밀한 부위들에 생겼더라.

9 And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts.

10 ¶ 그러므로 그들이 에크론으로 하나님의 법궤를 보냈더라. 그러자 하나님의 법궤가 에크론으로 가는 동안 이러한 일이 있었으니, 에크론족들이 부르짖으며 말하기를, “그들이 이스라엘의 하나님의 법궤를 우리 근처로 가져왔으니, 우리와 우리 백성을 살해하려는 것이라.” 하였더라.

10 ¶ Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people.

11 그렇게 하여 그들이 사람을 보내서 필리스티아인들의 모든 군주들을 한데 모으고 말하기를, “이스라엘의 하나님의 법궤를 내보내라. 그리하여 그것이 그의 본래 위치로 다시 가게 할지니, 그것이 우리와 우리 백성을 살해하지 않게 하려 함이라.” 하였더라. 이는 도시 전체를 통틀어 치명적인 멸망이 있었기 때문이라. 하나님의 손이 거기에서 몹시 엄중하였더라.

11 So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.

12 그리고 죽지 않은 사람들은 치핵들로 타격을 입었더라. 그리하여 도시의 부르짖음이 하늘까지 올라갔더라.

12 And the men that died not were smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
