예레미야서 51장

1 주가 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 멸망시키는 바람을 일으키겠으니, 바빌론을 대적함이요, 나를 대적하려고 들고일어나는 자들의 중심에서 지내는 자들을 대적함이라.

1 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;

2 그리하여 바빌론을 키질하는 자들을 보내겠으니, 그녀를 키질할 자들이요, 그녀의 지역을 비울 자들이라. 이는 곤경의 날에 그들이 그녀를 대적하여 주위에 있을 것이기 때문이라.

2 And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.

3 활 쏘는 자는 활을 당기는 자를 대적하여 자기 활을 당길지어다. 또한 자신의 사슬갑옷을 입은 채 자신을 치켜세우는 자를 대적하여 그리할지어다. 그리고 너희는 그녀의 청년들을 아끼지 말라. 너희는 그녀의 모든 군대를 모조리 멸하라.

3 Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.

4 따라서 살해당한 자들은 칼데아인들의 지역에서 쓰러질 것이요, 그녀의 거리들에서 꿰뚫린 자들도 그러하리라.

4 Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.

5 이는 그들의 지역이 이스라엘의 거룩한 이를 대적하여 죄로 가득 채워졌을지라도 이스라엘이 버림받지 아니하였고, 유다도 그의 하나님, 곧 만군의 주로부터 버림받지 아니하였기 때문이라.

5 For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.

6 바빌론의 한복판에서 도망하라. 그리하여 모든 사람마다 자기 혼을 구출하라. 그녀의 죄악으로 끊어지지 말라. 이는 이때가 주의 복수의 때이기 때문이라. 그가 그녀에게 되갚아 주겠노라.

6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD'S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.

7 바빌론은 주의 손안에 있는 금잔이었으니, 온 땅을 취하게 한 잔이었도다. 민족들이 그녀의 포도주를 마셨도다. 그러므로 그 민족들이 미쳐 버렸도다.

7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

8 바빌론이 갑작스럽게 쓰러져서 멸망하였도다. 그녀를 위하여 울부짖으라. 그녀의 통증에 향유 연고를 쓰라. 그렇게 하면 혹 그녀가 치유될 수도 있으리라.

8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

9 우리가 바빌론을 치유하려고 하였으나 그녀는 치유되지 아니하였도다. 그녀를 버리자. 그리하여 우리 모두가 저마다 자기 본향으로 가자. 이는 그녀의 심판이 하늘까지 도달하였고 창공들에 이르기까지 올려졌기 때문이라.

9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

10 주께서 우리의 의를 생성해 내셨도다. 오라, 그리하여 우리가 시온에서 주 우리 하나님의 역사를 선언하자.

10 The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

11 화살들을 번쩍이게 하라. 방패들을 모으라. 주가 메데 사람들의 왕들의 영을 일으켰도다. 이는 그의 계책이 바빌론을 멸망시키려고 그곳을 대적하였기 때문이라. 이는 그것이 주의 복수요, 그의 성전에 대한 복수이기 때문이라.

11 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.

12 바빌론의 성벽들 위에 깃발을 게양하라. 경비를 튼튼히 하라. 파수꾼들을 세우라. 매복병들을 예비하라. 이는 주가 바빌론의 거주자들을 대적하여 말한 것을 친히 고안하기도 하고 실행도 하였기 때문이라.

12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.

13 오, 너, 많은 물들 위에 거하고 보물들이 넘치는 자야, 너의 끝이 이르렀으니, 너의 탐욕의 분량이라.

13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

14 만군의 주가 자신을 두고 맹세하며 말하기를, “내가 반드시 너를 사람들로 가득 채울 것이니, 애벌레들로 채우는 것과 같으리라. 그리하여 그들이 너를 대적하여 함성을 높이겠노라.” 하였도다.

14 The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.

15 그가 자신의 권능으로 땅을 만들었도다. 그가 자신의 지혜로 세상을 확고히 세웠고, 자신의 명철로 하늘을 펼쳤노라.

15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

16 그가 자신의 음성을 발할 때 하늘들 안에 무더기의 물들이 생기나니, 그가 땅의 끝들에서 수증기들을 올라오게 하는도다. 그가 비를 동반한 번개들을 만들고 그의 보물 창고들에서 바람을 나오게 하는도다.

16 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

17 모든 사람마다 자기 지식에 의하여 야수같이 되는도다. 모든 주물공마다 조각된 형상에 의하여 당혹스럽게 되는도다. 이는 그의 주조된 형상이 거짓이고 그것들 안에 호흡이 없기 때문이라.

17 Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

18 그것들은 헛된 것이요, 과오들의 결과물이라. 그것들의 감찰의 때에 그것들이 망하리라.

18 They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

19 야곱의 몫은 그것들과 같지 아니하는도다. 이는 그가 모든 것들의 조성자이기 때문이라. 그리고 이스라엘은 그의 상속의 막대기니라. 만군의 주가 그의 이름이라.

19 The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.

20 너는 나의 전투용 도끼요, 전쟁 무기들이라. 이는 내가 민족들을 너와 더불어 산산조각 내겠으며, 내가 왕국들을 너와 더불어 멸망시킬 것이기 때문이라.

20 Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

21 그리고 내가 말과, 그를 탄 자를 너와 더불어 산산조각 내겠노라. 그리고 내가 병거와, 그를 탄 자를 너와 더불어 산산조각 내겠노라.

21 And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;

22 또한 내가 남자와 여자를 너와 더불어 산산조각 내겠노라. 그리고 내가 늙은이와 어린이를 너와 더불어 산산조각 내겠노라. 그리고 내가 젊은 남자와 숫처녀를 너와 더불어 산산조각 내겠노라.

22 With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;

23 또한 내가 목자와 그의 양 떼를 너와 더불어 산산조각 내겠노라. 그리고 내가 농부와 그가 가진 한 쌍의 소들을 너와 더불어 산산조각 내겠노라. 그리고 내가 대장들과 치리자들을 너와 더불어 산산조각 내겠노라.

23 I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.

24 그리고 너희의 목전에서 그들이 시온에서 행한 그들의 모든 악을 내가 바빌론에게, 또 칼데아의 모든 거주자들에게 돌려주겠노라. 주가 말하노라.

24 And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.

25 오, 멸망시키는 산아, 보라, 내가 너를 대적하노라. 주가 말하노라. 나는 온 땅을 멸망시키는 이라. 그런즉 내가 나의 손을 너의 위에 뻗어 너를 바위들에서부터 굴려 내리겠으며, 너를 하나의 불타는 산으로 만들겠노라.

25 Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

26 그리하면 그들은 너에게서 어느 모퉁이를 위한 돌 하나도 취하지 아니할 것이요, 기초들을 위한 돌 하나도 취하지 아니하리라. 오직 너는 영원토록 황량해지리라. 주가 말하노라.

26 And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD.

27 너희는 그 지역에 깃발을 게양하라. 민족들 가운데서 나팔을 불라. 그녀를 대적하여 민족들을 예비하라. 그녀를 대적하여 아라라트와 민니와 아슈크나즈의 왕국들을 대적하여 함께 소집하라. 그녀를 대적하여 대장을 임명하라. 그 말들을 거친 애벌레들같이 올라오게 하라.

27 Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.

28 그녀를 대적하여 메데 사람들의 왕들과 그것의 대장들과 그것의 모든 치리자들과 그의 통치권에 속한 온 지역과 더불어 민족들을 예비하라.

28 Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

29 그리하면 그 지역이 떨고 슬퍼하리라. 이는 바빌론을 대적하여 수행될 각각의 모든 주의 목적을 위한 것이요, 바빌론의 지역을 거주자가 한 명도 없는 황무지로 만들기 위함이라.

29 And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

30 바빌론의 막강한 남자들이 싸우는 것을 꺼렸으니, 그들이 자신들의 요새들 안에 남아 있었도다. 그들의 기운이 쇠하였으니, 그들이 여자들같이 되었도다. 그들이 그녀의 거주지들을 태웠고, 그녀의 빗장들이 부서졌도다.

30 The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.

31 한 전달자가 다른 전달자를 만나려고 달려갈 것이요, 한 전령이 다른 전령을 만나려고 달려갈 것이니, 바빌론 왕에게 그의 도시가 한쪽 끝에서 점령되었음을 알리려 함이라.

31 One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,

32 또한 통행로들이 막혔고, 그 갈대들을 그들이 불로 태웠으며, 전사들이 겁에 질렸음을 알리려 함이라.

32 And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

33 이는 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 바빌론의 딸은 타작마당과 같나니, 그녀를 타작할 시간이 되었도다. 앞으로 잠깐 있다가 이후에는 그녀를 수확할 시간이 오리라.

33 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

34 바빌론 왕 네부카드레자르가 나를 집어삼켰으니, 그가 나를 으스러뜨렸고, 그가 나를 빈 그릇으로 만들었도다. 그가 용처럼 나를 삼켜 버렸도다. 그가 나의 별미들로 그의 배를 채우고는 그가 나를 쫓아냈도다.

34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.

35 시온의 거주자들이 말하기를, “나와 나의 육체에 가해진 폭력이 바빌론 위에 임하기를 바라노라.” 하리라. 예루살렘이 말하기를, “나의 피가 칼데아의 거주자들 위에 임하기를 바라노라.” 하리라.

35 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.

36 그러므로 주가 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 너의 송사를 변호하고 너를 위하여 복수하겠노라. 그리하여 내가 그녀의 바다를 말려 버리고 그녀의 샘들을 마르게 하겠노라.

36 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

37 그런즉 바빌론이 무더기들과, 용들을 위한 거주지와, 경악 거리와, 쉭쉭대는 야유 거리와, 거주자가 한 명도 없는 곳이 되리라.

37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

38 그들은 다 함께 사자들처럼 포효하리라. 그들은 사자들의 새끼들같이 아우성치리라.

38 They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions' whelps.

39 그들의 열기 속에서 내가 그들의 잔치들을 베풀겠고, 내가 그들을 취하게 하겠으니, 이로써 그들은 크게 기뻐하다가 영속적인 잠이 들어 깨어나지 못하리라. 주가 말하노라.

39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD.

40 내가 그들을 살육으로 향하는 어린양들처럼, 숫염소들과 함께한 숫양들처럼 끌고 내려가겠노라.

40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.

41 어떻게 셰샥이 점령되었는가! 그리하여 어떻게 온 땅의 칭송이 놀랐는가! 어떻게 바빌론이 민족들 가운데서 경악 거리가 되었는가!

41 How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!

42 바다가 바빌론 위로 올라왔도다. 그녀가 그곳의 파도들의 허다함에 덮여 있도다.

42 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

43 그녀의 도시들은 황무지요, 메마른 토지요, 광야요, 그 안에 사람이 전혀 거하지 아니하는 지역이니, 또한 사람의 자손 그 누구도 그 곁을 지나가지 아니하는도다.

43 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby.

44 그리하여 내가 바빌론에서 벨에게 형벌을 내리겠으며, 나는 그가 삼켜 버린 것을 그의 입에서 꺼내겠노라. 그리하여 민족들이 더 이상 그에게로 함께 밀려들지 아니하리라. 진정 바빌론 성벽이 무너지리라.

44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

45 나의 백성이여, 너희는 그녀의 한복판에서 빠져나가라. 그리하여 너희는 모두 저마다 주의 맹렬한 분노에서 자기 혼을 구출하라.

45 My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.

46 그리고 너희 마음이 낙담하여 너희가 그 지역에서 들려올 소문을 두려워하는 일이 없게 하라. 소문이 어느 해에 당도하리니, 그러고 난 뒤에 다른 해에도 소문이 당도하리라. 그리하여 그 지역에 폭력이 이르고, 치리자가 치리자를 대적하리라.

46 And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

47 그러므로 보라, 그날들이 오리니, 내가 바빌론의 조각된 형상들 위에 심판을 내리겠노라. 그리하면 그녀의 온 지역이 당혹스러워할 것이요, 그녀의 모든 살해당한 자들이 그녀의 한복판에서 쓰러지리라.

47 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.

48 그때 하늘과 땅과 그 안에 있는 모든 것이 바빌론으로 인하여 노래하리라. 이는 약탈자들이 북쪽으로부터 나와서 그녀에게로 올 것이기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라.

48 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.

49 마치 바빌론이 이스라엘의 살해당한 자들을 쓰러지게 하였듯이, 바빌론에도 이처럼 온 땅의 살해당한 자들이 쓰러지리라.

49 As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.

50 그 칼을 모면한 너희여, 멀리 떠나라. 가만히 서 있지 말라. 멀리 떨어진 데서 주를 기억하라. 그리고 예루살렘이 너희 생각 속에 들어오게 하라.

50 Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

51 우리가 치욕을 들은 까닭에 우리는 당혹스러웠도다. 수치가 우리의 얼굴들을 덮었도다. 이는 타국인들이 주의 집의 성소들 안으로 들어왔기 때문이라.

51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD'S house.

52 이러한 이유로, 주가 말하노라. 보라, 내가 그녀의 조각된 형상들 위에 심판을 내릴 그날들이 오리라. 그런즉 그녀의 온 지역에 걸쳐 상처 입은 자들이 신음하리라.

52 Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.

53 바빌론이 하늘까지 위로 상승할지라도, 그녀가 자신의 힘의 높이를 요새화할지라도, 그럼에도 나에게서 나온 약탈자들이 그녀에게 이르리라. 주가 말하노라.

53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.

54 부르짖는 소리가 바빌론에서 나오고, 엄청난 멸망이 칼데아인들의 지역에서 나오는도다.

54 A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:

55 이는 주가 바빌론을 약탈하였고 그녀로부터 크나큰 음성을 멸하였기 때문이라. 그녀의 파도들이 엄청난 물들처럼 포효할 때 그들의 음성의 떠들썩한 소리가 발설되었도다.

55 Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:

56 이는 약탈자가 그녀 위에, 곧 바빌론 위에 임하였고 그녀의 막강한 남자들이 붙잡혔으며 그들의 모든 활들이 각기 부러졌기 때문이라. 이는 되갚음의 주 하나님이 반드시 보복하기 때문이라.

56 Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.

57 그리하여 내가 그녀의 통치자들과 그녀의 지혜로운 사람들과 그녀의 대장들과 그녀의 치리자들과 그녀의 막강한 남자들을 취하게 만들겠노라. 그리하면 그들은 영속적인 잠이 들어 깨어나지 못하리라. 만군의 주가 그의 이름인 왕이 말하노라.

57 And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

58 만군의 주가 이같이 말하노라. 바빌론의 넓은 성벽들은 모조리 무너질 것이요, 그녀의 높은 대문들은 불로 태워지리라. 그리하여 그 백성들은 헛되이 수고할 것이요, 서민은 불속에서 수고하리니, 그들이 지치리라.

58 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.

59 ¶ 예언자 예레미야가 마아세야의 자손이자 네리야의 아들인 스라야에게 명령한 말씀이라. 때는 유다 왕 시드키야의 통치 제사년에 스라야가 시드키야와 함께 바빌론으로 갔을 때니, 이 스라야는 평강을 누리는 통치자였더라.

59 ¶ The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.

60 그렇게 하여 바빌론 위에 임할 모든 해악, 곧 바빌론을 대적하여 기록된 이 모든 말씀들을 예레미야가 한 권의 책 안에 기록하였더라.

60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.

61 그러고 나서 예레미야가 스라야에게 이같이 말하였더라. “너는 바빌론에 왔을 때 살펴볼지니, 이 모든 말씀들을 읽을지니라.

61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;

62 그때 너는 이같이 말하리라. ‘오, 주여, 당신께서 이 장소를 끊어 내시려고 이곳을 대적하여 말씀하시기를, ‘아무도 그곳 안에 남아 있지 아니할 것이요, 사람도 짐승도 그러하리니, 오히려 그곳이 영원토록 황량해지리라.’ 하셨나이다.’

62 Then shalt thou say, O LORD, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

63 그런 다음에 네가 이 책을 읽는 것을 끝마쳤을 때 이러한 일이 있으리니, 너는 그것에 돌 하나를 매달고, 그것을 유프라테스 한복판에 던질지니라.

63 And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:

64 그러면서 너는 이같이 말할지니라. ‘바빌론은 이와 같이 가라앉을 것이요, 내가 그녀 위에 가져올 해악으로부터 일어나지도 못하리라.’ 그리하면 그들이 지치리라.” 여기까지가 예레미야의 말들이라.

64 And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.
