예레미야서 6장

1 오, 너희, 베냐민 자녀들아, 예루살렘의 중심에서 도망하기 위해 너희끼리 모이라. 그런즉 트코아에서 나팔을 불고 벧학케렘에서 불로 신호를 세우라. 이는 해악이 북쪽에서 모습을 드러내기 때문이니, 곧 엄청난 멸망이로다.

1 O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.

2 내가 시온의 딸을 곱고 우아한 여자에 비유하였노라.

2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

3 목자들이 자신들의 양 떼들을 몰고 그녀에게 오리라. 그들은 그녀를 대적하여 주위에 자신들의 천막들을 치리니, 그들은 모두 저마다 자기 처소 안에서 양 떼를 먹이리라.

3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

4 너희는 그녀를 대적하여 전쟁을 예비하라. 일어나라. 그리하여 우리가 정오에 올라가자. 우리에게 화가 있으리로다! 이는 낮이 떠나기 때문이요, 저녁의 그림자들이 펼쳐지기 때문이라.

4 Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

5 일어나라, 우리는 밤에 가자. 그리하여 우리가 그녀의 궁전들을 파괴하자.

5 Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

6 ¶ 이는 만군의 주가 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 너희는 나무들을 베어 쓰러뜨리고 예루살렘을 대적하여 토루를 쌓으라. 이것은 벌받는 도시로다. 그녀는 그녀의 중심에서 온통 압제로다.

6 ¶ For thus hath the LORD of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

7 샘터가 그녀의 물들을 뿜어내듯이 이처럼 그녀도 그녀의 사악함을 뿜어내는도다. 폭력과 약탈이 그녀 안에서 들리나니, 내 앞에는 비통함과 상처들이 끊임없이 있도다.

7 As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.

8 오, 예루살렘아, 너는 훈계를 받으라. 이는 나의 혼이 너를 떠날까 함이요, 내가 너를 황량하게 만들어 거주하는 자가 없는 지역으로 만들까 함이라.

8 Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

9 ¶ 만군의 주가 이같이 말하노라. 그들이 포도나무같이 이스라엘의 남은 자들을 철저하게 이삭줍기하리라. 포도 채집꾼같이 너의 손을 바구니들 안으로 도로 들이라.

9 ¶ Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.

10 내가 누구에게 말하고 경고를 주어야 그들이 들을 수 있느냐? 보라, 그들의 귀는 할례받지 아니하였기에 그들은 경청할 수 없도다. 보라, 주의 말이 그들에게는 비방이로다. 그들은 그것 안에서 큰 즐거움을 얻지 못하는도다.

10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

11 그러므로 주의 노여움이 나를 가득 채웠도다. 나는 속에 담고만 있기에 지쳤도다. 내가 그것을 야외에 있는 아이들 위에도, 청년들의 집회 위에도 함께 쏟아 내리라. 이는 심지어 남편이 아내와 더불어 잡혀갈 것이요, 나이 많은 자가 기한들이 찬 자와 더불어 잡혀갈 것이기 때문이라.

11 Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.

12 그리고 그들의 집들은 그들의 밭들과 아내들과 더불어 다른 자들에게 돌아가리라. 이는 내가 그 지역의 거주자들 위에 나의 손을 뻗을 것이기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라.

12 And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.

13 이는 그들의 가장 작은 자부터 그들의 가장 큰 자에 이르기까지 모두 저마다 탐욕에 빠지기 때문이라. 또 예언자부터 제사장에 이르기까지 모두 저마다 거짓되이 처신하는도다.

13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

14 그들은 또한 평화가 없을 때 나의 백성의 딸의 상처를 약간만 치유하며 말하기를, “평화로다, 평화로다.” 하였도다.

14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

15 그들이 가증한 짓을 저질렀을 때 스스로 부끄러워하였느냐? 아니니라. 그들은 도무지 부끄러워하지 아니하였고 그들은 얼굴을 붉히는 법도 몰랐도다. 그러므로 그들은 쓰러지는 자들 사이에서 쓰러지리라. 내가 그들을 벌하는 그때에 그들은 던져지리라. 주가 말하노라.

15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

16 주가 이같이 말하노라. 너희는 길들 가운데 서서 보라. 그리고 옛 행로들, 곧 그 선한 길이 어디 있는지 묻고 그 가운데서 살아가라. 그리하면 너희가 너희 혼들을 위한 안식을 발견하리라. 그러나 그들은 말하기를, “우리는 그 가운데 살아가지 아니하겠노라.” 하였도다.

16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

17 또한 내가 너희 위에 파수꾼들을 세우며 말하기를, “나팔 소리에 경청하라.” 하였도다. 그러나 그들은 말하기를, “우리는 경청하지 아니하겠노라.” 하였도다.

17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

18 ¶ 그러므로 너희, 민족들아, 들으라. 오, 회중아, 그들 가운데 무엇이 있는지 알라.

18 ¶ Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.

19 오, 땅아, 들으라. 보라, 내가 이 백성 위에 해악을 가져오겠으니, 곧 그들의 생각들의 열매로다. 이는 그들이 나의 말들에 경청하지 아니하고, 나의 법에도 경청하지 아니하며, 오히려 그것을 거절하였기 때문이라.

19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

20 셰바에서 향을, 그리고 먼 나라에서 달콤한 수수를 가지고 그리로 내게 오는 목적이 무엇이냐? 너희의 번제물들은 받아들여지지 아니하고, 너희의 희생 제물들은 나에게 감미롭지 아니하도다.

20 To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.

21 그러므로 주가 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 이 백성 앞에 걸려 넘어지게 하는 장애물들을 두겠으니, 아버지들과 아들들이 함께 그것들 위에서 쓰러질 것이요, 이웃과 그의 친구가 멸망하리라.

21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

22 주가 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 한 백성이 북방 국가에서 오나니, 크나큰 민족이 땅의 변두리들에서 일으켜지리라.

22 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth.

23 그들이 활과 창을 쥐리니, 그들은 잔인하고 무자비하도다. 그들의 음성은 바다처럼 포효하는도다. 오, 시온의 딸아, 그런즉 그들이 말들을 타고 너를 대적하여 전쟁을 위한 남자들답게 대형을 갖추는도다.

23 They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.

24 우리가 그곳의 명성을 들었으니, 우리의 손이 나약해지는도다. 극심한 고통과 아픔이 산고를 치르는 여자에게서 난 것같이 우리를 붙들었도다.

24 We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

25 들판으로 나가지 말고 길로 다니지도 말라. 이는 그 원수의 칼과 두려움이 사면에 깔려 있기 때문이라.

25 Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

26 ¶ 오, 나의 백성의 딸아, 너는 굵은 베로 너에게 띠를 두르고 재들 속에서 너의 몸을 뒹굴라. 마치 하나뿐인 독자를 위한 것처럼 지극히 통렬한 애가로 애곡하라. 이는 약탈자가 갑자기 우리에게 임할 것이기 때문이라.

26 ¶ O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.

27 내가 너를 나의 백성 가운데서 망대와 견고한 요새로 세웠나니, 네가 그들의 길을 알고 시험하게 하려 함이라.

27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way.

28 그들은 모두 끔찍한 반란자들이요, 중상들을 하며 활보하는 자들이라. 그들은 놋과 철이니, 그들은 모두 부패시키는 자들이라.

28 They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.

29 그 풀무가 탔고 납이 불에 소멸되었도다. 주물공은 헛되이 녹이는도다. 이는 사악한 자들이 뽑혀 나가지 아니하였기 때문이라.

29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.

30 사람들이 그들을 버림받은 은이라 부르리니, 주가 그들을 거절한 까닭이라.

30 Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.
