욥기 12장

1 그러자 욥이 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라.

1 And Job answered and said,

2 “의심할 바 없이 너희만 사람들이요, 지혜가 너희와 함께 죽겠구나.

2 No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

3 그러나 나도 너희만큼 명철을 가지고 있도다. 나는 너희보다 열등하지 아니하도다. 진정 누가 이들과 같은 것들을 모르느냐?

3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

4 나는 자기 이웃에게 조롱당하는 이와 같나니, 그가 하나님을 부르는데 그의 이웃이 그에게 대답하는도다. 정의롭고 올바른 사람이 경멸을 받고 비웃음을 당하는도다.

4 I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

5 자기 두 발이 미끄러지기 직전인 자는 안락하게 있는 자의 생각 속에서 멸시받는 등불 같도다.

5 He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

6 강도들의 장막들은 번영하고 하나님을 격분시키는 자들은 안전하도다. 하나님께서 그들의 손안에 풍성하게 가져다 주시는도다.

6 The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

7 그러나 이제 짐승들에게 물으라. 그리하면 그들이 너를 가르치리라. 또 공중의 날짐승들에게 물으라. 그리하면 그들이 너에게 알려 주리라.

7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

8 아니면 땅에게 이야기하라. 그리하면 그것이 너를 가르치리라. 또 바다의 물고기들이 너에게 분명하게 밝히리라.

8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

9 누가 이 모든 것들 안에서 주의 손이 이것을 이루셨음을 모르느냐?

9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?

10 그분의 손안에 각각의 모든 생명체의 혼과 온 인류의 호흡이 있느니라.

10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

11 귀가 너의 말들을 처리하지 아니하냐? 또 입이 그의 음식을 맛보지 아니하냐?

11 Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

12 원로들에게는 지혜가 있느니라. 명철은 날들이 긴 것에 있느니라.

12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

13 그분께 지혜와 힘이 있도다. 그분은 조언과 명철을 지니셨도다.

13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

14 보라, 그분께서 허무시나니 그것이 다시 건축될 수 없노라. 그분께서 사람을 가두시나니, 열릴 수 없노라.

14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

15 보라, 그분께서 물들을 막으시면 그것들이 말라 버리느니라. 또한 그분께서 그것들을 내보내시면 그것들이 땅을 뒤집느니라.

15 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

16 그분께 힘과 지혜가 있느니라. 속는 자와 속이는 자가 그분께 속해 있느니라.

16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

17 그분께서는 전략가들을 약탈당하도록 이끌어 내시고 판관들을 바보들로 만드시는도다.

17 He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

18 그분께서 왕들의 결박을 푸시고, 그들의 허리들에 띠를 두르시는도다.

18 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

19 그분께서 통치자들을 약탈당하도록 이끌어 내시고 막강한 자들을 뒤짚어엎으시는도다.

19 He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

20 그분께서 신뢰할 만한 자들의 언변을 없애 버리시고, 나이 많은 자들의 명철을 제거하시는도다.

20 He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

21 그분께서 통치자들 위에 멸시를 쏟으시고 막강한 자들의 힘을 약하게 하시는도다.

21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

22 그분께서 깊은 것들을 어둠에서 드러내시고 사망의 그림자를 빛으로 가져오시는도다.

22 He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

23 그분께서 민족들을 융성하게도 하시며 그들을 멸망하게도 하시느니라. 그분께서 민족들을 확장하게도 하시며 협소하게도 하시느니라.

23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

24 그분께서 땅의 백성 중 우두머리의 마음을 빼앗아 버리시며, 길이 없는 광야에서 그들을 방황하게 하시는도다.

24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

25 그들이 빛 없이 어둠 속에서 더듬나니, 그분께서 그들을 술 취한 남자처럼 휘청거리게 하시는도다.

25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
