욥기 9장
1 그때 욥이 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라.
1 Then Job answeredand said,
2 “그것이 정말로 그러함을 나는 아노라. 그러나 사람이 하나님께 어떻게 정당해지겠느냐?
2 I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
3 만일 사람이 그분과 쟁론하려 한다면 그는 일천 개 가운데 하나도 그분께 답변할 수 없느니라.
3 If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
4 그분은 마음이 지혜로우시고 힘이 막강하시느니라. 그분을 대적하여 스스로 완악해지고서 누가 번영하였느냐?
4 He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
5 그분께서 산들을 옮기셔도 그들은 모르는도다. 그분께서 자신의 분노 가운데 그들을 뒤집으시는도다.
5 Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
6 그분께서 땅을 그녀의 처소에서 흔드시나니, 그곳의 기둥들이 떠는도다.
6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
7 그분께서 해에게 명령하시니, 그것이 떠오르지 아니하고 별들을 완전히 봉하시는도다.
7 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
8 그분께서 홀로 하늘들을 활짝 펴시며, 바다의 파도들 위를 밟으시는도다.
8 Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
9 그분께서 아르크투루스와 오리온과 플레이아데스와 남쪽의 방실들을 만드시는도다.
9 Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
10 지나가서 발견할 수 없는 위대한 것들을 그분께서 행하시는도다. 그리고 진정 이적들은 수도 없도다.
10 Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
11 보라, 그분께서 내 곁을 지나가시는데 나는 그분을 보지 못하는도다. 그분께서 또한 계속 나아가시나 나는 그분을 알아차리지 못하는도다.
11 Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
12 보라, 그분께서 다시 가져가시는데 누가 그분을 저지할 수 있느냐? 누가 그분께 말씀드리기를, ‘당신께서 무엇을 하고 계시나이까?’ 하겠느냐?
12 Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
13 만일 하나님께서 그분의 분노를 거두려 하지 아니하신다면 교만한 조력자들이 그분 아래에서 허리를 굽히느니라.
13 If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
14 하물며 어떻게 내가 감히 그분께 대답하며 그분과 따져 보기 위해 나의 말들을 선별하겠느냐?
14 How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?
15 설령 내가 의로울지라도 여전히 나는 그분께 답변하지 않으리니, 오히려 나는 나의 심판자께 간구를 드리겠노라.
15 Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
16 만일 내가 부름으로써 그분께서 나에게 대답하셨을지라도 그럼에도 나는 그분께서 나의 음성에 경청하셨다고 믿지 아니하리라.
16 If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
17 이는 그분께서 광풍으로 나를 깨뜨리시며 까닭 없이 나의 상처들을 가중시키시기 때문이라.
17 For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
18 그분은 내가 나의 숨을 쉬는 것을 허락하지 않으실 것이며, 오히려 나를 쓰라림으로 채우시는도다.
18 He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
19 만일 내가 힘에 관하여 이야기한다면, 보라, 그분은 강하시도다. 그리고 만일 심판에 관하여 이야기한다면 누가 나에게 변호할 시간을 정해 주겠느냐?
19 If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?
20 만일 내가 나 자신을 정당화한다면 바로 나의 입이 나를 정죄하리라. 만일 내가 말하기를, ‘나는 완전하다.’ 한다면 그것은 또한 내가 비뚤어진 것을 입증하리라.
20 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
21 설사 내가 완전하였다 할지라도 여전히 나는 나의 혼을 알려고 하지 아니하였을 것이요, 나는 나의 생명을 멸시하였으리라.
21 Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
22 이것은 한 가지 일이므로 그것을 내가 말하기를, ‘그분께서 완전한 자와 사악한 자를 멸하시는도다.’ 하였느니라.
22 This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
23 설령 채찍질이 누군가를 갑작스럽게 살해한다 해도 그분은 무고한 자의 시련을 비웃으실 것이라.
23 If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
24 땅은 사악한 자들의 손안에 주어지느니라. 그분께서 땅의 판관들의 얼굴을 가리시나니, 만일 그렇지 아니하다면 그분은 어디 계시며 또 누구시냐?
24 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
25 이제 나의 날들은 전달자보다 더 빠르니라. 그날들이 달아나 버리니 그날들이 좋은 것을 전혀 보지 못하는도다.
25 Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
26 그날들이 빠른 선박들같이 지나쳐 떠나 버렸으니, 먹이를 향해 서두르는 독수리와 같도다.
26 They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.
27 만일 제가 말씀드리기를, ‘제가 저의 한탄을 잊겠나이다. 제가 저의 중압감을 내려놓고 제 자신을 위로하겠나이다.’ 한다 해도
27 If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:
28 저는 저의 모든 슬픔들을 무서워하나이다. 저는 당신께서 저를 무고하다고 평하지 아니하시리라는 것을 아나이다.
28 I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
29 제가 사악할진대, 그렇다면 어찌하여 저는 헛되이 수고하나이까?
29 If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
30 설령 제가 눈 녹은 물로 저의 몸을 씻고 저의 두 손을 아무리 정결하게 씻는다 해도
30 If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
31 여전히 당신께서는 저를 도랑 속에 빠뜨리실 것이요, 제가 소유한 옷이 저를 혐오할 것이니이다.
31 Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
32 그분은 나처럼 사람이 아니시기에 내가 그분께 대답할 수 없고 우리가 함께 재판으로 나올 수 없도다.
32 For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.
33 또한 우리 사이에는, 자신의 손을 우리 모두 위에 얹을 수 있는 어떤 중재인도 없도다.
33 Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.
34 그분께서 그분의 막대기를 나에게서 거두어 가시게 하고 그분의 두려우심이 나를 공포스럽게 하지 않게 하라.
34 Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
35 그때 비로소 내가 이야기할 것이요, 그분을 두려워하지 아니하리라. 그러나 나에게 그것은 그렇지 아니하도다.
35 Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
