1 나의 어린 자녀들아, 이런 것들을 내가 너희에게 기록하는 것은 너희로 하여금 죄를 짓지 않게 하려 함이라. 그런데 만일 어떤 사람이 죄를 짓는다면 아버지와 함께 계시는 변호인이 우리에게 계시니, 곧 의로우신 분 예수 그리스도시라.
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 또한 그분께서는 우리의 죄들을 위한 화해 제물이시니, 우리의 죄들로 인한 것뿐 아니라 오히려 온 세상의 죄들로 인한 것이기도 하니라.
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 그리고 만일 우리가 그분의 명령들을 지킨다면 이로써 우리는 우리가 그분을 알고 있음을 아느니라.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 “나는 그분을 아노라.” 하고 말하면서 그분의 명령들을 지키지 아니하는 자는 거짓말쟁이요, 진리가 그의 안에 있지 아니하니라.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 그러나 누구든지 그분의 말씀을 지키는 자는 진실로 하나님의 사랑이 그 안에서 완전하게 되느니라. 이로써 우리는 우리가 그분 안에 있음을 아느니라.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 자신이 그분 안에 거한다고 말하는 자는 바로 그분께서 살아가신 것같이 그 자신도 마땅히 그렇게 살아가야 하느니라.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 형제들아, 내가 너희에게 기록하는 것은 전혀 새로운 명령이 아니요, 오히려 너희가 초기부터 가졌던 옛 명령이라. 그 옛 명령은 너희가 초기부터 들어 온 말씀이라.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 다시금 나는 너희에게 새로운 명령을 기록하나니, 그것은 그분 안에서 그리고 너희 안에서 참된 것이라. 이는 어둠이 지나갔고 이제 참된 빛이 비추기 때문이라.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
9 자기가 빛 가운데 있다고 말하면서 자기 형제를 증오하는 자는 지금까지도 어둠 가운데 있는 것이라.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 자기 형제를 사랑하는 자는 빛 가운데 거하나니, 그의 안에 걸려 넘어지는 계기가 전혀 없느니라.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 그러나 자기 형제를 증오하는 자는 어둠 가운데 있고 어둠 가운데 살아가며 자신이 어디로 가는지 모르나니, 그 어둠이 그의 두 눈을 멀게 하였기 때문이라.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
12 어린 자녀들아, 내가 너희에게 기록하노니, 그분의 이름으로 인하여 너희의 죄들이 너희에게서 용서되었기 때문이라.
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
13 아버지들아, 내가 너희에게 기록하노니, 너희가 시작부터 계시는 분을 알았기 때문이라. 청년들아, 내가 너희에게 기록하노니, 너희가 그 사악한 자를 이겼기 때문이라. 어린 자녀들아, 내가 너희에게 기록하노니, 너희가 아버지를 알았기 때문이라.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14 아버지들아, 내가 너희에게 기록하였나니, 너희가 시작부터 계시는 분을 알았기 때문이라. 청년들아, 내가 너희에게 기록하였나니, 너희가 강건하고 하나님의 말씀이 너희 안에 거하며 너희가 그 사악한 자를 이겼기 때문이라.
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
15 세상을 사랑하지 말고 세상 속에 있는 것들도 사랑하지 말라. 누구든 세상을 사랑한다면 아버지의 사랑이 그 안에 있지 아니하니라.
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 이는 세상 속에 있는 모든 것이 육신의 정욕이요, 안목의 정욕이요, 인생의 자랑이니, 아버지께 속한 것이 아니요, 세상에 속한 것이기 때문이라.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 그런즉 세상과 세상의 정욕이 사라져 버리느니라. 그러나 하나님의 뜻을 행하는 자는 영원토록 거하느니라.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
18 어린 자녀들아, 지금이 마지막 시대라. 그런즉 적그리스도가 오리라고 너희가 들은 바대로 지금도 많은 적그리스도들이 있느니라. 그것을 통하여 우리는 지금이 마지막 시대라는 것을 아느니라.
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 그들이 우리에게서 나갔으나 그들은 우리에게 속하지 아니하였느니라. 이는 만일 그들이 우리에게 속하였다면, 그들은 의심할 바 없이 우리와 함께 계속 있었으리라. 그러나 그들이 나갔으니, 그들이 우리 모두에게 속하지 아니하였음을 자신들이 명백하게 나타내려 함이라.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
20 그러나 너희에게는 거룩하신 분께로부터 오는 기름 부으심이 있으니, 너희가 모든 것들을 아느니라.
20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
21 너희가 진리를 모르므로 내가 기록한 것이 아니요, 오히려 너희가 그것을 알고 어떤 거짓말도 진리에서 나지 아니함을 알므로 기록한 것이라.
21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 예수님께서 그리스도이심을 부인하는 자 외에 누가 거짓말쟁이냐? 아버지와 아들을 부인하는 자가 적그리스도라.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23 누구든지 아들을 부인하면 바로 그 자에게는 아버지가 없느니라. (그러나) 아들을 인정하는 자에게는 아버지도 있느니라.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 그러므로 너희가 초기부터 들어 온 그것이 너희 안에 거하게 하라. 만일 너희가 초기부터 들어 온 그것이 너희 안에 남아 있다면 너희도 아들 안에 그리고 아버지 안에 계속 있으리라.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 그리고 이것이 그분께서 우리에게 약속하신 약속이니, 곧 영생이라.
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 너희를 미혹하는 자들에 관하여 내가 이런 것들을 너희에게 기록하였노라.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 그러나 너희가 그분께 받은 기름 부음이 너희 안에 거하나니, 너희는 어떤 사람도 너희를 가르치는 것이 필요하지 아니하니라. 그러나 동일한 기름 부음이 너희에게 모든 것들에 관하여 가르치는 것같이 그리고 그 기름 부음이 진리이며 거짓말이 아닌 것같이, 그것이 너희를 가르친 그대로 너희는 그분 안에 거할지니라.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 그런즉 이제 어린 자녀들아, 그분 안에 거하라. 이는 그분께서 나타나실 때 우리가 자신감을 지니려 함이요, 그분께서 오실 때 그분 앞에서 부끄러워하지 않으려 함이라.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 만일 너희가 그분께서 의로우신 것을 안다면 너희는 의를 행하는 모든 자마다 그분께로부터 태어난 것을 아느니라.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
