1 그때 아합의 죽음 뒤에 모압이 이스라엘을 대적하여 반역하였더라.
1 Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
2 그리고 아하지야는 사마리아에 있던 그의 윗방에서 격자창을 통하여 아래로 떨어지는 바람에 병들었더라. 그리하여 그가 전령들을 보내며 그들에게 말하기를, “가라. 내가 이 질병에서 회복할 수 있을지 에크론의 신 바알제붑에게 물으라.” 하였더라.
2 And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.
3 그러나 주의 천사가 티셉족 엘리야에게 이같이 말하였더라. “일어나라. 사마리아 왕의 전령들을 만나러 올라가서 그들에게 말하라. ‘이스라엘에 한 하나님이 없어서 너희가 에크론의 신 바알제붑에게 물으러 가는 것이 아니냐?’
3 But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?
4 그러므로 이제 주가 이같이 말하노라. 너는 네가 올라간 그 침상 위에서 내려오지 못할 것이요, 오히려 반드시 죽으리라.” 그리고 엘리야가 떠났더라.
4 Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.
5 ¶ 이후에 전령들이 그에게 다시 돌아왔을 때 그가 그들에게 말하기를, “어찌하여 너희가 지금 다시 돌아왔느냐?” 하였더라.
5 ¶ And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?
6 그런즉 그들이 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “한 남자가 우리를 만나러 올라와서 우리에게 말하기를, ‘너희를 보낸 왕에게 다시 돌아가서 그에게 이같이 말하라. ‘주가 이같이 말하노라. 이스라엘에 한 하나님이 없어서 네가 에크론의 신 바알제붑에게 물으려고 사람을 보내는 것이 아니냐? 그러므로 너는 네가 올라간 그 침상 위에서 내려오지 못할 것이요, 오히려 반드시 죽으리라.’’ 하였나이다.”
6 And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
7 그러자 왕이 그들에게 말하기를, “너희를 만나러 올라와서 이런 말들을 너희에게 알린 자는 어떤 부류의 사람이었느냐?” 하였더라.
7 And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?
8 그러자 그들이 그에게 대답하기를, “그는 털이 많은 남자였고 그의 허리 둘레에 가죽으로 된 허리띠를 둘렀나이다.” 하였더라. 이에 그가 말하기를, “티셉족 엘리야로다.” 하였더라.
8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
9 그때 왕이 그에게 한 오십인대장을 그의 오십인과 함께 보냈더라. 그리하여 그가 그에게 올라갔는데, 보라, 그가 한 언덕의 꼭대기 위에 앉았더라. 그런즉 그가 그에게 말하기를, “너, 하나님의 사람아, 왕께서 말씀하시기를, ‘내려오라.’ 하셨도다.” 하였더라.
9 Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
10 그러자 엘리야가 대답하여 오십인대장에게 말하기를, “만일 내가 하나님의 사람이라면 그때는 불이 하늘로부터 내려와서 너와 너의 오십인을 사를지어다.” 하였더라. 그러자 하늘로부터 불이 내려와 그와 그의 오십인을 살랐더라.
10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
11 또다시 그가 또 다른 오십인대장을 그의 오십인과 함께 그에게 보냈더라. 이에 그가 그에게 대답하여 말하기를, “오, 하나님의 사람이여, 왕께서 이같이 말씀하시기를, ‘속히 내려오라.’ 하셨나이다.” 하였더라.
11 Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.
12 그러자 엘리야가 대답하여 그들에게 말하기를, “만일 내가 하나님의 사람이라면 불이 하늘로부터 내려와서 너와 너의 오십인을 사를지어다.” 하였더라. 이에 하나님의 불이 하늘로부터 내려와 그와 그의 오십인을 살랐더라.
12 And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
13 ¶ 그러자 그가 다시 세 번째 오십인대장과 그의 오십인을 함께 보냈더라. 이에 그 세 번째 오십인대장이 올라가서 도착하였으니, 엘리야 앞에서 자신의 두 무릎을 꿇고 엎드리어 그에게 간청하며 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “오, 하나님의 사람이여, 제가 당신께 간구하오니, 저의 생명과 당신의 종들인 이 오십인의 생명이 당신의 목전에 귀하게 되도록 허락하소서.
13 ¶ And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
14 보소서, 불이 하늘로부터 내려와 이전 오십인대장 둘을 그들의 오십인 부대들과 더불어 태워 버렸나이다. 그러므로 이제 제 생명이 당신의 목전에 귀하게 되도록 허락하소서.”
14 Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.
15 그러자 주의 천사가 엘리야에게 말하기를, “그와 함께 내려가라. 그를 무서워하지 말라.” 하셨느니라. 그런즉 그가 일어나서 그와 함께 왕에게 내려갔더라.
15 And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
16 그리고 그가 그에게 말하기를, “주가 이같이 말하노라. ‘네가 에크론의 신 바알제붑에게 물으려고 전령들을 보낸 이유가 이스라엘에는 그분의 말씀에 관하여 여쭐 만한 하나님이 없기 때문이 아니냐? 그러므로 너는 네가 올라간 그 침상에서 내려오지 못할 것이요, 오히려 반드시 죽으리라.’” 하였더라.
16 And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
17 ¶ 그렇게 하여 엘리야가 전한 주의 말씀에 따라 그가 죽었더라. 그리고 여호람이 유다 왕 여호샤팟의 아들 여호람의 제이년에 그를 대신하여 통치하였더라. 이는 그가 아들이 없었기 때문이라.
17 ¶ So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.
18 이제 아하지야가 행한 그의 행적들 중 나머지 것들이 이스라엘 왕들의 연대기들의 책 안에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?
18 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
