1 유다 왕 아하지야의 아들 요아시의 제이십삼년에 예후의 아들 여호아하즈가 사마리아에서 이스라엘을 통치하기 시작하였고, 십칠 년 동안 통치하였더라.
1 In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.
2 그리고 그는 주의 목전에 악한 것을 행하였고 이스라엘을 죄짓게 한, 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄들을 따랐더라. 그가 그것에서 떠나지 아니하였더라.
2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.
3 ¶ 그리하여 주의 분노가 이스라엘을 대적하여 타오르게 되었으니, 그들의 모든 날들 동안 그분께서 시리아 왕 하자엘의 손안에, 또 하자엘의 아들 벤하닷의 손안에 그들을 넘겨주셨더라.
3 ¶ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.
4 이에 여호아하즈가 주께 간청하였더니 주께서 그에게 경청하셨더라. 이는 시리아 왕이 그들을 압제한 까닭에 그분께서 이스라엘의 압제를 보셨기 때문이라.
4 And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.
5 (그런즉 주께서 이스라엘에게 한 구원자를 주셔서 그들이 시리아인들의 수하에서 빠져나갔더라. 그리하여 이스라엘 자녀들이 예전처럼 그들의 천막들 안에서 거하였더라.
5 (And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.
6 그럼에도 불구하고 그들이 이스라엘을 죄짓게 만든 여로보암 집의 죄들에서 떠나지 아니하였고 오히려 그 가운데서 살아갔더라. 그리고 사마리아에는 그 작은 수풀도 남아 있었더라.)
6 Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)
7 또한 그가 여호아하즈에게 백성 가운데 오십 명의 기병들과 열 대의 병거들과 일만 명의 보병들 외에는 남기지 아니하였더라. 이는 시리아 왕이 그들을 멸하였고 그들을 마치 타작하면서 생기는 티끌같이 만들었기 때문이라.
7 Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.
8 ¶ 이제 여호아하즈의 행적들 중 나머지와 그가 행한 모든 것과 그의 위세, 그것들이 이스라엘 왕들의 연대기들의 책 안에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?
8 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
9 이후에 여호아하즈가 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들었으니, 그들이 그를 사마리아에 장사하였더라. 그리고 그의 아들 요아시가 그를 대신하여 통치하였더라.
9 And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his stead.
10 ¶ 유다 왕 요아시의 제삼십칠년에 여호아하즈의 아들 여호아시가 사마리아에서 이스라엘을 통치하기 시작하였고 십육 년 동안 통치하였더라.
10 ¶ In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.
11 그리고 그는 주의 목전에 악한 것을 행하였더라. 그가 이스라엘을 죄짓게 한, 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 모든 죄들에서 떠나지 아니하였더라. 오히려 그는 그 가운데서 살아갔더라.
11 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked therein.
12 그리고 요아시의 행적들 중 나머지와 그가 행한 모든 것과 그가 유다 왕 아마지야를 대적하여 싸운 그의 위세, 그것들이 이스라엘 왕들의 연대기들의 책 안에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?
12 And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13 그런즉 요아시가 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들었더라. 그리고 여로보암이 그의 보좌 위에 앉았더라. 또 요아시는 이스라엘 왕들과 함께 사마리아에 장사되었더라.
13 And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14 ¶ 이제 엘리사가 그의 앓는 것으로 병들었으니, 그것은 그가 죽게 된 병이었더라. 그런즉 이스라엘 왕 요아시가 그에게 내려왔고 그의 얼굴 위에서 울었으며 말하기를, “오, 나의 아버지여, 나의 아버지여, 이스라엘의 병거이자 그것의 기병들이여.” 하였더라.
14 ¶ Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
15 이에 엘리사가 그에게 말하기를, “활과 화살들을 취하소서.” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 활과 화살들을 그에게 가져왔더라.
15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
16 그러자 그가 이스라엘 왕에게 말하기를, “당신의 손을 활 위에 올리소서.” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 자기 손을 그것 위에 올렸더라. 그리고 엘리사가 그의 두 손을 왕의 두 손 위에 올렸더라.
16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.
17 그러면서 그가 말하기를, “동쪽 방향의 창문을 여소서.” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 그것을 열었더라. 그때 엘리사가 말하기를, “쏘소서.” 하였더라. 이에 그가 쏘았더라. 그리고 그가 말하기를, “주의 구출에 속한 화살이요, 시리아로부터의 구출에 속한 화살이니이다. 이는 당신께서 시리아인들을 아펙에서 치실 것이요, 당신께서 그들을 진멸시킬 때까지 치실 것이기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.
17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD'S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
18 그리고 그가 말하기를, “화살들을 취하소서.” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 그것들을 취하였더라. 그런 다음에 그가 이스라엘 왕에게 말하기를, “지면을 치소서.” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 세 번 치고 그쳤더라.
18 And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.
19 그러자 하나님의 사람이 그에게 격노하면서 말하기를, “당신께서는 대여섯 번 치셨어야 했나이다. 그렇다면 당신께서 친히 시리아를 전멸시킬 때까지 그것을 쳤을 것이니이다. 이에 반해 이제 당신께서는 불과 세 번만 시리아를 치실 것이니이다.” 하였더라.
19 And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
20 ¶ 이후에 엘리사가 죽었고 그들이 그를 장사하였더라. 그리고 새해에 들어서자 모압족들의 부대들이 영토를 침략하였더라.
20 ¶ And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
21 그런데 그들이 한 사람을 장사하고 있는 동안 이러한 일이 있었으니, 보라, 그들이 남자들로 이루어진 한 부대를 감지하여 그들이 엘리사의 돌무덤 안으로 그 남자를 던져 넣었더라. 그런데 그 남자가 아래로 떨어져서 엘리사의 뼈들에 닿았을 때 그가 다시 살아나 그의 두 발로 일어섰더라.
21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
22 ¶ 그러나 시리아 왕 하자엘이 여호아하즈의 모든 날들 동안 이스라엘을 압제하였더라.
22 ¶ But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
23 그런데 주께서는 그들에게 은혜로우셨고 그들에게 연민을 가지셨으며 그들을 존중하셨으니 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱과 맺으신 그분의 언약 때문에 그들을 멸하려 하지 아니하셨으며, 아직까지는 친히 그들을 자신의 면전에서 쫓아내려 하지 아니하셨더라.
23 And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
24 그렇게 하여 시리아 왕 하자엘이 죽었더라. 그리고 그의 아들 벤하닷이 그를 대신하여 통치하였더라.
24 So Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his stead.
25 이후에 여호아하즈의 아들 여호아시가 하자엘의 아들 벤하닷의 손에서 도시들을 탈환하였으니 그 도시들은 그가 그의 아버지 여호아하즈의 손에서 전쟁으로 빼앗은 것이었더라. 요아시가 그를 세 번 쳤고 이스라엘의 도시들을 회복하였더라.
25 And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.
