1 요시야가 통치하기 시작할 때 그는 팔 세였으니, 그가 예루살렘에서 삼십일 년 동안 통치하였더라. 그리고 그의 어머니의 이름은 여디다로, 보스캇 출신 아다야의 딸이었더라.
1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.
2 그리고 그는 주의 목전에 옳은 것을 행하였고 그의 조상 다윗의 모든 길 가운데 살아갔으니, 오른편으로나 왼편으로 벗어나지 아니하였더라.
2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
3 ¶ 그리고 요시야왕 제십팔년에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 왕이 아잘리야의 아들이자 므슐람의 자손인 서기관 샤판을 주의 집으로 보내며 이같이 말하였더라.
3 ¶ And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,
4 “문을 지키는 자들이 백성에게서 거두어 주의 집 안으로 들여진 은을 대제사장 힐키야가 합산하도록 그에게 올라가라.
4 Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:
5 그런 다음에 그들로 하여금 주의 집의 감독권을 가진 공사 집행자들의 손안에 그것을 넘기게 하라. 그리고 그들은 주의 집 안에 있는 공사 집행자들에게 그것을 주어 그 집의 파손된 곳들을 보수하게 하되,
5 And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
6 목수들과 건축자들과 석공들에게, 또 집을 보수하기 위한 재목과 다듬어진 돌을 구입하는 데 쓰게 하라.”
6 Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
7 하지만 그들이 신실하게 처리한 까닭에, 그들의 손안에 넘겨진 돈에서 그들과 함께 금액을 따지는 일이 없었더라.
7 Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
8 ¶ 이윽고 대제사장 힐키야가 서기관 샤판에게 말하기를, “제가 주의 집 안에서 율법 책을 발견하였나이다.” 하였더라. 그러면서 힐키야가 샤판에게 그 책을 주었더니 그가 그것을 읽었더라.
8 ¶ And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
9 그러고 나서 서기관 샤판이 왕에게 와서 왕에게 다시 기별을 가져와 말하기를, “당신의 종들이 그 집에서 얻어진 돈을 모았고 그것을 주의 집의 감독권을 가지고 공사를 집행하는 자들의 손안에 넘겼나이다.” 하였더라.
9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.
10 그러면서 서기관 샤판이 왕에게 보여 주며 말하기를, “제사장 힐키야가 책 한 권을 저에게 넘겼나이다.” 하였더라. 그리고 샤판이 왕 앞에서 그것을 읽었더라.
10 And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
11 그리고 왕이 율법 책의 말씀들을 들었을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 자신의 옷을 찢었더라.
11 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.
12 그러면서 왕이 제사장 힐키야와, 샤판의 아들 아히캄과, 믹하야의 아들 악볼과, 서기관 샤판과, 왕의 종인 아사히야에게 명령하며 이같이 말하였더라.
12 And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying,
13 “너희는 가라. 이 발견된 책의 말씀들에 관하여 나를 위하여, 또 백성을 위하여, 또 온 유다를 위하여 주께 여쭈라. 이는 우리를 대적하여 타오르게 된 주의 진노가 대단히 크기 때문이니, 우리 조상들이 이 책의 말씀들에 경청하지 아니하여 우리에 관하여 기록된 모든 것대로 행하려고 하지 아니하였기 때문이라.”
13 Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
14 그렇게 하여 제사장 힐키야와 아히캄과 악볼과 샤판과 아사히야가 여예언자 훌다에게로 갔는데, 그녀는 샬룸의 아내로, 샬룸은 의례복을 지키는 자이자 할하스의 자손이요, 틱와의 아들이었더라. (이때 그녀가 예루살렘에 있는 학관 안에서 거하였더라.) 그리고 그들은 그녀와 대화하였더라.
14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.
15 ¶ 그리고 그녀가 그들에게 말하기를, “이스라엘의 주 하나님께서 이같이 말하노라. ‘너희를 나에게 보낸 그 사람에게 이같이 말하라.
15 ¶ And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,
16 ‘주가 이같이 말하노라. ‘보라, 내가 이 장소 위와 그곳의 거주자들 위에 해악을 가져오겠으니, 곧 유다 왕이 읽었던 책의 모든 말들이라.
16 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read:
17 이는 그들이 나를 저버렸고 그들이 자신들의 손에서 나온 모든 작업물들로 나에게 분노를 일으키려고 다른 신들에게 향을 태웠기 때문이라. 그러므로 나의 진노가 이 장소를 대적하여 타오르게 될 것이요, 꺼지지 아니하리라.’’
17 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
18 그러나 주께 여쭈라고 너희를 보낸 유다 왕에게는, 그에게는 너희가 이같이 말하라. ‘이스라엘의 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. ‘네가 들은 말들과 관련하자면
18 But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;
19 내가 이 장소를 대적하고 그곳의 거주자들을 대적하여 말한 것, 곧 그들이 황량함과 저주가 되리라는 것을 네가 들었을 때 너의 마음이 순해졌고 네가 주 앞에서 스스로를 겸손하게 하였으며 너의 옷을 찢고 내 앞에서 운 까닭에 나 또한 너의 말을 들었노라. 주가 말하노라.’
19 Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.
20 그러므로 보라, 내가 너를 너의 조상들에게로 합치겠으니, 너는 너의 무덤 안으로 평안히 합쳐지리라. 그리고 너의 두 눈은 내가 이 장소 위에 가져올 모든 악을 보지 아니하리라.’’” 그리하여 그들이 왕에게 그 말씀을 다시 가져갔더라.
20 Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
