1 이스라엘 왕 여호아하즈의 아들 요아시의 제이년에 유다 왕 요아시의 아들 아마지야가 통치하였더라.
1 In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.
2 그가 통치하기 시작할 때 그는 이십오 세였고 예루살렘에서 이십구 년 동안 통치하였더라. 그리고 그의 어머니의 이름은 예루살렘 출신의 여호앗단이었더라.
2 He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
3 그리고 그는 주의 목전에서 옳은 것을 행하였는데 그럼에도 그의 조상 다윗과 같지는 아니하였더라. 그가 그의 아버지 요아시가 행한 것에 따라 모든 것들을 그대로 행하였더라.
3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.
4 하지만 높은 처소들은 제거되지 아니하였더라. 아직까지 백성이 높은 처소들에서 희생 제물을 드렸고 향을 태웠더라.
4 Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
5 ¶ 그리고 왕국이 그의 손안에 확고하게 들어오자마자 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 자신의 아버지인 선왕을 살해한 그의 종들을 살해하였더라.
5 ¶ And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
6 그러나 살인자들의 자식들은 그가 살해하지 아니하였더라. 이는 모세의 율법 책 안에 기록된 것을 따르려 함이니, 그 안에는 주께서 명령하며 말씀하시기를, “아버지들은 자식들로 인하여 사형에 처하지 아니할 것이요, 자식들도 아버지들로 인하여 사형에 처하지 아니할 것이라. 오직 모든 사람마다 자기 자신의 죄로 인하여 사형에 처해질지니라.” 하신 것이 있느니라.
6 But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
7 그가 소금 골짜기에서 에돔에 속한 일만 명을 살해하였고, 전쟁으로 셀라를 점령하였으며 그곳의 이름을 욕드엘이라 불렀으니, 오늘날까지 이르니라.
7 He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
8 ¶ 그때 아마지야가 예후의 자손이요, 여호아하즈의 아들인, 이스라엘 왕 여호아시에게 전령들을 보내며 말하기를, “오라, 우리가 서로 정면으로 붙어 보자.” 하였더라.
8 ¶ Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
9 그러자 이스라엘 왕 여호아시가 유다 왕 아마지야에게 사람을 보내며 이같이 말하였더라. “레바논에 있었던 엉겅퀴가 레바논에 있었던 백향목에게 전언을 보내며 말하기를, ‘너의 딸을 나의 아들에게 아내로 달라.’ 하였도다. 그런데 레바논에 있었던 야생 짐승이 옆으로 지나가다가 그 엉겅퀴를 짓밟았노라.
9 And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
10 그대가 정녕 에돔을 치더니 그대의 마음이 그대를 치켜세웠도다. 이것으로 자랑하면서 집에나 머무르라. 그런즉 어찌하여 그대가 간섭하다가 스스로 해를 입어야만 하겠으며, 그대, 바로 그대와 그대 곁에 있는 유다가 쓰러져야만 하겠느냐?”
10 Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
11 그러나 아마지야가 들으려고 하지 아니하였더라. 그러므로 이스라엘 왕 여호아시가 올라갔더라. 그리고 그와 유다 왕 아마지야가 벧셰메시에서 서로 대면하였으니, 벧셰메시는 유다에 속해 있느니라.
11 But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
12 그런즉 유다가 이스라엘 앞에서 졌더라. 그러자 그들은 모든 사람마다 그들의 천막들로 도망쳤더라.
12 And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.
13 이후에 이스라엘 왕 여호아시가 아하지야의 자손이요, 여호아시의 아들인 유다 왕 아마지야를 벧셰메시에서 붙잡았고, 예루살렘으로 와서 에프라임문에서부터 모퉁이문까지 사백 큐빗의 예루살렘 성벽을 헐었더라.
13 And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14 그리고 그가 모든 금과 은과 주의 집 안과 왕의 집의 보물 창고들 안에서 발견된 모든 기물들과 볼모들을 취한 뒤에 사마리아로 되돌아갔더라.
14 And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
15 ¶ 이제 여호아시가 행한 그의 행적들 중 나머지와 그의 위세와 어떻게 그가 유다 왕 아마지야와 싸웠는지에 대한 것, 그것들이 이스라엘 왕들의 연대기들의 책 안에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?
15 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16 이후에 여호아시가 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들었고 이스라엘 왕들과 함께 사마리아에 장사되었더라. 그리고 그의 아들 여로보암이 그를 대신하여 통치하였더라.
16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17 ¶ 그리고 유다 왕 요아시의 아들 아마지야가 이스라엘 왕 여호아하즈의 아들 여호아시의 죽음 이후에 십오 년을 살았더라.
17 ¶ And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
18 그리고 아마지야의 행적들 중 나머지, 그것들이 유다 왕들의 연대기들의 책 안에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?
18 And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19 이제 그들이 예루살렘에서 그를 대적하여 모반을 일으켰더라. 그러자 그가 라키시로 도망하였으나 그들이 그를 쫓아 라키시로 사람을 보내어 그를 거기에서 살해하였더라.
19 Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
20 그리고 그들이 그를 말들 위에 실어 데려왔더라. 그런즉 그가 다윗의 도시 안에서 그의 조상들과 함께 예루살렘에 장사되었더라.
20 And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21 ¶ 그리고 유다의 온 백성이 십육 세였던 아자리야를 데려와서 그를 그의 아버지 아마지야를 대신하여 왕으로 삼았더라.
21 ¶ And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
22 그가 엘랏을 건축하였고 그 왕이 그의 조상들과 함께 잠든 뒤에 그곳을 유다에 반환하였더라.
22 He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
23 ¶ 유다 왕 요아시의 아들 아마지야의 제십오년에 이스라엘 왕 요아시의 아들 여로보암이 사마리아에서 통치하기 시작하였으니, 사십일 년 동안 통치하였더라.
23 ¶ In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.
24 그리고 그가 주의 목전에 악한 것을 행하였더라. 그는 이스라엘을 죄짓게 만든, 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 모든 죄들에서 떠나지 아니하였더라.
24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
25 그가 이스라엘의 주 하나님의 말씀대로 이스라엘의 국경을 하맛의 진입로에서 평야의 바다까지 회복하였으니, 그 말씀은 그분께서 아밋타이의 아들로서 가드헤펠 출신이었던 예언자, 그분의 종 요나의 손을 통하여 전하신 것이라.
25 He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.
26 이는 주께서 이스라엘의 고난을 보셨기 때문이니, 그것이 매우 참담하였더라. 이는 누구도 차단되지 아니하였고, 누군가 남겨지지도 아니하였으며 이스라엘을 돕는 이도 아무도 없었기 때문이라.
26 For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
27 그런즉 주께서 친히 이스라엘의 이름을 하늘 아래로부터 지워 없애려고 말씀하지 아니하셨더라. 오히려 그분께서 요아시의 아들 여로보암의 손을 통하여 그들을 구원하셨더라.
27 And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28 ¶ 이제 여로보암의 행적들 중 나머지와 그가 행한 모든 것과 그의 위세, 곧 그가 어떻게 전쟁하였는지와 그가 어떻게 다마스쿠스와 유다에 속해 있었던 하맛을 이스라엘을 위하여 회복하였는지에 대한 것들이 이스라엘 왕들의 연대기들의 책 안에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?
28 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
29 이후에 여로보암이 그의 조상들, 곧 이스라엘의 왕들과 함께 잠들었더라. 그리고 그의 아들 사카리야가 그를 대신하여 통치하였더라.
29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.
