1 내리쳐서 산산이 부수는 자가 너의 얼굴 앞으로 올라왔도다. 방어 시설을 지키고 길을 파수하며 너의 허리를 강하게 하고 너의 능력을 막강히 견고하게 하라.

1 He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.

2 이는 주가 야곱의 탁월함을 마치 이스라엘의 탁월함같이 외면하였기 때문이라. 이는 비우는 자들이 그들을 비웠기 때문이요, 그들의 포도나무 가지들에 손상을 입혔기 때문이라.

2 For the LORD hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.

3 그의 막강한 남자들의 방패는 붉어졌고, 용맹한 남자들은 주홍색 옷을 입고 있도다. 그가 예비하는 날에 병거들은 이글거리는 횃불들을 갖출 것이요, 전나무들은 공포스럽게 요동하리라.

3 The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.

4 거리들 안에서 병거들이 난폭하게 질주하리라. 그것들이 광대한 길들에서 서로 거칠게 밀치리라. 그것들이 횃불들처럼 보일 것이요, 그것들이 번개들처럼 달리리라.

4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.

5 그가 자신의 주요 인사들을 열거할 것이니, 그들은 자신들이 걷는 중에 걸려 넘어지리라. 그들이 그곳의 성벽에 이르기까지 서두를 것이요, 방어 태세가 갖춰지리라.

5 He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared.

6 강들의 수문들이 열릴 것이요, 궁전이 해체되리라.

6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.

7 그리하여 훗잡이 포로로 끌려가 버리리니, 그녀는 끌려 나올 것이요, 그녀의 하녀들이 비둘기들의 음성을 내는 것처럼 자신들의 가슴을 치며 그녀를 이끌리라.

7 And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.

8 그러나 니네베는 물웅덩이처럼 예로부터 존재하는도다. 그럼에도 그들은 멀리 도망하리라. 그들은 외치기를, “일어서라. 일어서라.” 하리라. 그러나 아무도 뒤를 돌아보지 아니하리라.

8 But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.

9 너희는 은의 약탈물을 취하고 금의 약탈물을 취하라. 이는 그 저장물은 끝이 없으며, 기쁨을 주는 모든 가구에서 나오는 영광도 끝이 없도다.

9 Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture.

10 그녀가 비어 있고 공허하며 황폐하도다. 그리고 마음이 녹아내리고 두 무릎이 함께 부딪치며 모든 허리에 많은 통증이 있고 그들의 얼굴은 모두 새까맣게 되는도다.

10 She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.

11 사자들의 서식지가 어디 있으며, 젊은 사자들의 먹이터가 어디 있느냐? 그곳은 그 사자, 바로 그 늙은 사자가 거닐었고 사자의 새끼도 거닐었으며, 아무도 그들을 무섭게 하지 못하던 곳이라.

11 Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the feedingplace of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion, walked, and the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid?

12 그 사자가 먹이를 자기 새끼들에게 충분할 만큼 갈기갈기 찢었고 자기 암사자들을 위해 먹이의 숨통을 졸랐으며 자기 굴들을 먹이로, 자기 토굴들을 포식으로 채웠도다.

12 The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin.

13 보라, 내가 너를 대적하노라. 만군의 주가 말하노라. 그리고 내가 그녀의 병거들을 연기 속에서 불태울 것이며, 칼이 너의 젊은 사자들을 집어삼키리라. 그러다가 내가 너의 먹이를 땅에서 끊겠으니, 너의 전령들의 음성이 더 이상 들려오지 아니하리라.

13 Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
