1 그런데 나오미에게는 자기 남편의 남자 친척이 있었으니, 부를 가진 막강한 남자요, 엘리멜렉의 가문이더라. 그리고 그의 이름은 보아즈였더라.
1 And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
2 이후에 모압족 여인 룻이 나오미에게 말하기를, “이제 내가 밭으로 가 내가 은혜를 발견할 누군가의 목전에서 그를 따라 곡식의 이삭들을 줍는 것을 허락하소서.” 하였더라. 그러자 그녀가 룻에게 말하기를, “내 딸아, 가라.” 하였더라.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.
3 그리하여 그녀가 가서 밭에 이르러 수확꾼들을 따라 이삭줍기를 하였더라. 그리고 그녀가 우연히 보아즈에게 속해 있는 밭의 한 부분을 맞닥뜨렸으니, 그는 엘리멜렉의 친족이었더라.
3 And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
4 ¶ 그런데 보라, 보아즈가 베들레헴으로부터 와서 수확꾼들에게 말하기를, “주께서 너희와 함께하시기를 바라노라.” 하였더라. 그러자 그들이 그에게 대답하기를, “주께서 당신에게 복을 주시기를 바라나이다.” 하였더라.
4 ¶ And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.
5 그때 수확꾼들을 통솔하도록 세워진 자기 종에게 보아즈가 말하기를, “이 사람은 누구에게 속한 젊은 여인이냐?” 하였더라.
5 Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?
6 그러자 수확꾼들을 통솔하도록 임명된 종이 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라. “그녀는 나오미와 함께 모압 지방에서 돌아온 모압 출신의 젊은 여인이니이다.
6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:
7 그리고 그녀가 말하기를, ‘제가 당신께 간구하오니, 제가 곡식 단들 사이에서 수확꾼들을 따라 이삭을 줍고 모으는 것을 허락해 주소서.’ 하였나이다. 그렇게 하여 그녀가 왔는데 집에서 잠시 머무른 것 외에는 그녀가 무려 아침부터 지금까지 계속 줍고 있나이다.”
7 And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.
8 그때 보아즈가 룻에게 이같이 말하였더라. “내 딸아, 네가 듣고 있지 아니하냐? 이삭을 주우러 다른 밭으로 가지 말고, 여기에서 떠나지도 말라. 다만 내게 속한 하녀들 곁에 꼭 붙어 여기에만 거하라.
8 Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:
9 너의 두 눈을 그들이 수확하는 밭에 두고, 너는 그들을 따라다니라. 내가 청년들에게 명하여 그들은 너를 건드리지 말아야 한다고 하지 아니하였느냐? 그런즉 네가 목마를 때면 그릇들이 있는 데로 가서 청년들이 길어 온 것을 마시라.”
9 Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.
10 그때 그녀가 자기 얼굴을 대고 엎드려서 자신의 몸을 땅바닥에 숙여 절하며 그에게 말하기를, “어찌하여 제가 당신의 두 눈에서 은혜를 발견하였으며, 당신께서는 제가 타국인인 것을 보면서도 저를 알아주시나이까?” 하였더라.
10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?
11 그러자 보아즈가 그녀에게 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라. “너의 남편이 죽은 이래로 네가 너의 시어머니에게 행한 모든 것이 나에게 충분히 알려졌으니, 곧 어떻게 네가 너의 아버지와 너의 어머니와 너의 조국의 영토를 떠났으며 네가 여태까지 몰랐던 백성에게로 왔는지에 관해서라.
11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
12 주께서 너의 행위에 보답해 주시기를 바라노라. 그리고 이스라엘의 주 하나님의 온전한 보상이 너에게 주어지기를 바라노라. 네가 그분의 날개들 아래에 의지하러 왔도다.”
12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
13 그때 그녀가 말하기를, “나의 주여, 제가 당신의 목전에서 호의를 발견하게 해 주소서. 비록 제가 당신의 몸종들 중 한 명과도 같지 아니하나 당신께서 저를 위로하셨기 때문이요, 당신의 몸종에게 친히 자상하게 말씀하셨기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.
13 Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.
14 그러자 보아즈가 그녀에게 말하기를, “너는 식사 시간에 이리로 와서 빵을 먹고 너의 먹을 것을 식초에 찍으라.” 하였더라. 그리하여 그녀가 수확꾼들 곁에 앉았더라. 그리고 그가 그녀에게 볶아진 곡식을 건네자 그녀가 먹었으니, 든든하게 먹고 남겼더라.
14 And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.
15 그런 다음에 그녀가 이삭을 주우러 일어났을 때 보아즈가 그의 청년들에게 명령하며 이같이 말하였더라. “그녀로 하여금 곡식 단들 사이에서 이삭을 줍게 하고 그녀를 나무라지 말라.
15 And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:
16 그리고 또한 몇 움큼 쥔 데서 얼마를 그녀를 위하여 일부러 떨어뜨리고 그것들을 남겨 두라. 이는 그녀가 그것들을 줍게 하려 함이니, 그녀를 나무라지 말라.”
16 And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.
17 그렇게 하여 그녀가 밭에서 저녁때까지 이삭을 주웠고 자신이 주운 것을 탈곡하였으니, 약 보리 일 에파였더라.
17 So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
18 ¶ 그러자 그녀가 그것을 취합하여 도시로 들어갔더라. 그리고 그녀가 주워 모은 것을 그녀의 시어머니가 보았더라. 이에 룻은 자신이 든든하게 먹고 따로 챙겨 놓은 것을 꺼내 놓고 그녀에게 주었더라.
18 ¶ And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.
19 그러자 그녀의 시어머니가 그녀에게 말하기를, “너는 오늘 어디에서 이삭을 주워 모았느냐? 또 너는 어디에서 일하였느냐? 너를 알아준 자는 복을 받기를 기원하노라.” 하였더라. 이에 그녀가 자기 시어머니에게 자신이 누구와 함께 일했는지를 밝히며 말하기를, “제가 오늘 곁에서 일한 남자의 이름은 보아즈이니이다.” 하였더라.
19 And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.
20 그러자 나오미가 자기 며느리에게 말하기를, “산 자와 죽은 자에게 자신의 친절을 거두지 아니한 그가 주께 복을 받기를 기원하노라.” 하였더라. 그러면서 나오미가 그녀에게 말하기를, “그 남자는 우리에게 가까운 친척이니, 우리의 가장 가까운 남자 친척들 중 하나니라.” 하였더라.
20 And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.
21 그러자 모압족 여인 룻이 말하기를, “그가 또한 나에게 ‘너는 나의 청년들이 나의 수확을 모두 끝마칠 때까지 그들 옆에 꼭 붙어 있을지니라.’라고 말하였나이다.” 하였더라.
21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.
22 이에 나오미가 자기 며느리 룻에게 말하기를, “내 딸아, 네가 그의 하녀들과 함께 나가고 어느 다른 밭에서 그들이 너를 만나지 않도록 하는 것이 좋으니라.” 하였더라.
22 And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.
23 그렇게 하여 그녀가 보리 수확의 끝과 밀 수확의 끝까지 보아즈의 하녀들 곁에 꼭 붙어서 이삭을 주웠으며, 그녀의 시어머니와 함께 거하였더라.
23 So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.
