1 이제 성령께서 명확하게 전하시나니, 마지막에 가까운 시대들에 어떤 이들이 믿음으로부터 떠나 미혹하는 영들과 마귀들의 교리들에 관심을 두리라는 것이라.
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 그들은 위선으로 거짓말들을 전하니, 자신들의 양심을 뜨거운 인두로 지져지게 하였도다.
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 그들은 혼인을 금하고 음식들을 단절하라고 명령하나니, 그 음식들은 믿고 진리를 아는 자들이 감사들을 드리며 받아들이도록 하나님께서 창조하신 것들이라.
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 이는 하나님의 모든 창조물은 저마다 좋은 것이요, 만일 그것을 감사들을 드리며 받아들인다면 거부할 것이 아무것도 없기 때문이라.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 이는 그것이 하나님의 말씀과 기도로 성결하게 구별되기 때문이라.
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 만일 네가 형제들에게 이런 것들을 기억하게 한다면 너는 네가 이르렀던 믿음의 말씀들과 선한 교리의 말씀들로 양육받아 예수 그리스도의 훌륭한 사역자가 되리라.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7 그러나 속되고 늙은 부인들의 지어낸 이야기들을 거부하고 도리어 경건에 이르도록 너 자신을 훈련하라.
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8 이는 몸의 훈련은 유익이 거의 없으나 경건은 모든 일들에 있어 유익하니, 현재 있는 생명의 약속과 다가올 생명의 약속을 가지게 하느니라.
8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 이 말씀은 신실하게 하신 말씀이며 전적으로 받아들이기에 합당하니라.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 이는 이러한 이유에서 우리가 수고도 하고 치욕을 감내하기 때문이니, 우리가 살아 계신 하나님을 신뢰하기 때문이라. 그분께서는 모든 사람들의 구원자시니, 특별히 믿는 자들의 구원자시라.
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11 이런 것들을 명령하고 가르치라.
11 These things command and teach.
12 어떤 사람도 너의 젊음을 멸시하지 못하게 하라. 오직 너는 말과 생활 방식과 성도의 사랑과 영과 믿음과 순결 안에서, 믿는 이들에게 본보기가 되라.
12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 내가 올 때까지 읽는 것과 권면하는 것과 교리에 집중하라.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 네 안에 있는 은사를 등한시하지 말라. 그것은 장로회가 두 손으로 안수할 때 예언으로 너에게 주어진 것이라.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 이것들을 묵상하라. 너 자신을 그 일들에 전적으로 헌신하여 너의 발전이 모두에게 드러나게 하라.
15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 네 자신에게 주의하고 교리에 주의하되 그것들을 지속하라. 이는 이 일을 행함으로써 네가 너 자신도 너의 말을 듣는 자들도 구원할 것이기 때문이라.
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
