1 우리가 스스로를 다시 추천하기 시작하는 것이냐? 아니면 다른 어떤 이들처럼 우리가 너희에게 보내는 추천 서신들이나 너희로부터 오는 추천 편지들이 필요하겠느냐?
1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2 너희는 우리 마음속에 기록된 우리의 서신이니, 모든 사람들에게 알려지고 읽혀졌느니라.
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 너희가 우리에 의하여 섬긴 바 된 그리스도의 서신이라는 것이 명백하게 공개되었으니, 이 서신은 잉크로 기록된 것이 아니라 살아 계신 하나님의 영으로 기록되었으며, 돌판들에 기록된 것이 아니라 살과 같은 마음 판들에 기록된 것이라.
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
4 그런즉 우리가 그리스도를 통하여 이러한 신뢰를 하나님을 향해 갖고 있느니라.
4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5 어떤 것이라도 우리 자신에게서 난 것처럼 생각할 만큼 우리 자신에게서 충분한 역량이 나오는 것이 아니니, 다만 우리의 충분한 역량은 하나님께로부터 나오느니라.
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 그분께서 또한 우리를 새 유언 언약을 위한 능력 있는 사역자들로 삼으셨으니, 법조문에 속한 것이 아니라 영에 속한 것이라. 이는 법조문은 죽이는 것이나 영은 생명을 주는 것이기 때문이라.
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 그러나 만일 돌들에 기록되고 새겨진 죽음의 직무가 영광스러웠기에 이스라엘 자녀들이 모세의 얼굴에 있는 사라지게 될 영광으로 인하여 그의 얼굴을 제대로 볼 수 없었다면,
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 하물며 영의 직무는 어찌 더 영광스럽지 아니하겠느냐?
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9 이는 만일 정죄의 직무가 영광이 된다면 의의 직무는 영광에 있어서 훨씬 더 월등하기 때문이라.
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
10 이는 영광스럽게 만들어졌던 것조차도 더 뛰어난 영광으로 말미암아 이런 점에서 전혀 영광이 없기 때문이라.
10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
11 이는 만일 사라진 것이 영광스러웠다면 남아 있는 것은 훨씬 더 영광스럽기 때문이라.
11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
12 그러니 우리에게 그러한 소망이 있으므로 우리가 대단히 분명한 말을 사용하노라.
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
13 그런즉 자기 얼굴에 가리개를 덮어서 이스라엘 자녀들이 폐기된 것의 결말을 제대로 바라볼 수 없게 한 모세와 같지는 아니하노라.
13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 그러나 그들의 생각들이 어두워졌으니, 오늘날까지 남아 있는 바로 그 가리개가 옛 유언 언약을 읽을 때 제거되지 않았기 때문이라. 그 가리개는 그리스도 안에서 사라지게 되느니라.
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 그러나 오늘날까지도 모세의 글이 읽혀질 때면 그 가리개가 그들의 마음을 덮고 있느니라.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 그럼에도 불구하고 그들의 마음이 주께로 돌아설 때 그 가리개는 제거되리라.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17 이제 주께서는 그 영이시라. 그런즉 주의 영이 계신 곳에는 자유가 있느니라.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 그러나 우리 모두는 얼굴을 드러낸 채 주의 영광을 유리로 보는 것같이 영광에서 영광에 이르는 동일한 형상으로 변화되나니, 바로 주의 영으로 말미암은 것이니라.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
