1 이는 성도들을 섬기는 것과 관련하여 너희에게 쓰는 일이 나에게 필요하지 않기 때문이라.
1 For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:
2 이는 너희 생각의 열성을 내가 알기 때문이라. 그것으로 인하여 내가 마케도니아에서 온 자들에게 너희에 관해 아카이아에서는 일 년 전에 준비하였다고 자랑하니, 너희의 열심이 아주 많은 이들을 분발하게 하였느니라.
2 For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.
3 그럼에도 내가 형제들을 보낸 것은 너희에 관하여 우리가 자랑한 것이 이 점에서 헛되지 않게 하려 함이요, 내가 말했듯이, 너희로 하여금 준비하게 하려 함이라.
3 Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:
4 혹시 마케도니아에서 온 자들이 나와 함께 가서 너희가 예비되지 않은 것을 발견한다면 (우리는 너희라고 말하지 아니하노라.) 우리가 이와 같이 자신 있게 자랑한 것이 부끄러워질까 하여 그러지 않도록 하려 함이라.
4 Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.
5 그러므로 나는 형제들에게 권면하여 그들이 너희보다 먼저 가서 너희의 후한 선물을 미리 준비할 필요가 있다고 생각하였으니, 그것에 관해서는 너희가 전에 공지를 받은 적이 있느니라. 이는 바로 이 일이 후한 선물답게 준비되어, 마치 탐욕으로 한 것 같지 않게 하려 함이라.
5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.
6 다만 내가 이것을 말하노니, 인색하게 뿌리는 자는 또한 인색하게 거둘 것이요, 넉넉하게 뿌리는 자는 또한 넉넉하게 거두리라는 것이라.
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 모든 사람은 각자 자신의 마음속에 결심한 대로 그렇게 줄지니라. 마지못해서나 어쩔 수 없이 하지는 말아야 하리니, 하나님께서는 흔쾌히 주는 자를 사랑하시기 때문이라.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
8 그런즉 하나님께서는 능히 너희를 향하여 모든 은혜를 넘치게 하실 수 있으니, 너희로 하여금 항상 모든 일들에 다 넉넉하게 하시어 모든 선한 일마다 넘치게 하려 하심이라.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
9 (기록된 바와 같으니, “그가 널리 재물을 나누어 주었으며, 그가 가난한 자들에게 주었도다. 그의 의가 영원토록 남아 있느니라.” 하였도다.
9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
10 이제 씨 뿌리는 자에게 씨를 공급하시는 분께서 너희의 양식을 위하여 빵을 공급하기도 하시고 너희의 뿌려진 씨를 번성하게도 하시며 너희의 의의 열매들이 늘어나게도 하시느니라.)
10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
11 너희가 모든 일마다 부요하게 되어 모든 넉넉함에 이르니, 그것은 우리를 통하여 하나님께 감사들을 드리게 하느니라.
11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
12 이는 이런 섬김을 집행하는 것이 성도들의 궁핍을 채워 줄 뿐만 아니라, 하나님께 많은 감사들을 드리는 일들로 인하여 또한 넘치기 때문이라.
12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
13 그렇게 하는 동안 이 직무의 이행을 통해, 그들이 그리스도의 복음을 향한 너희의 공언된 복종으로 인하여, 또 너희가 그들과 모든 사람들에게 베푼 관대한 나눔으로 인하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리느니라.
13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
14 그리고 너희를 위한 그들의 기도를 통하여 그들이 너희를 간절히 보고 싶어 하노니, 너희 안에 있는 하나님의 지극한 은혜로 인한 것이라.
14 And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.
15 말로 다 표현할 수 없는 그분의 선물로 인하여 하나님께 감사들이 있기를 바라노라.
15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
