1 내가 나의 파수대 위에 서서 나 자신을 망대 위에 세우겠노라. 그리하여 그분께서 나에게 무슨 말씀을 하실지, 내가 책망받을 때 내가 무슨 대답을 해야 할지 알고자 깨어 있겠노라.
1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
2 그런즉 주께서 나에게 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “그 현시를 기록하여 그것을 판들 위에 명료하게 적으라. 이는 그것을 읽는 자가 달릴 수 있게 하려 함이라.
2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 이는 그 현시가 앞으로 정해진 어느 때에 관한 것이나 그 끝에 이르러 그것이 말할 것이요, 거짓말하지 아니할 것이기 때문이라. 비록 그것이 지체할지라도 그것을 기다리라. 이는 그것이 반드시 올 것이기 때문이니, 그것이 지체하지 아니하리라.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
4 보라, 위로 높여진 자의 혼은 그의 안에서 올바르지 아니하니라. 그러나 의인은 자기 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라.
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
5 ¶ 또한 진정 그가 포도주로 인하여 불법을 행하기 때문에 그는 교만한 사람이로다. 또한 가정에 붙어 있지 못하는 자요, 자기 욕망을 지옥같이 넓히는 자요, 사망 같은 자요, 만족할 줄 모르는 자요, 다만 모든 민족들을 자신에게 모으고 모든 백성들을 자신에게 축적하는 자로다.
5 ¶ Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people:
6 이들 모두가 그를 대적하여 비유를 짓고 그를 대적하여 놀리는 속담을 들면서 말하기를, ‘자기 소유가 아닌 것을 늘리는 자에게 화가 있기를 바라노라! 얼마나 오래 걸리겠는가? 두꺼운 진흙으로 스스로 짐을 지는 자에게 화가 있기를 바라노라!’ 하지 아니하겠느냐?
6 Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay!
7 너를 물어뜯을 자들이 갑자기 일어나지 아니하겠으며, 너를 괴롭힐 자들이 깨어나지 아니하겠느냐? 그리하면 너는 그들에게 노획품들이 되지 아니하겠느냐?
7 Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them?
8 네가 많은 민족들을 약탈했기 때문에 그 백성의 모든 남은 자들이 너를 약탈하리라. 이는 사람들의 피 때문이요, 그 지역과 그 도시와 그 안에 거하는 모든 자들의 폭력 때문이라.
8 Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
9 ¶ 자기 집에 대하여 악한 탐욕을 부리는 자에게 화가 있기를 바라노라! 그가 자기 둥지를 높은 곳에 두려고 하며, 그가 해악의 능력으로부터 구출받고자 하는도다.
9 ¶ Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!
10 너는 많은 백성들을 끊음으로써 너의 집에 수치를 계획하였고 너의 혼을 대적하여 죄를 지었도다.
10 Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting off many people, and hast sinned against thy soul.
11 이는 벽에서부터 돌이 부르짖고 재목에서부터 들보가 그것에 대답할 것이기 때문이라.
11 For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.
12 ¶ 피로 마을을 건축하고 죄악으로 도시를 확고히 세우는 자에게 화가 있기를 바라노라!
12 ¶ Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity!
13 보라, 바로 그 불속에서 백성이 수고할 것이요, 바로 그 헛된 것으로 백성이 스스로 피곤해지리니, 그것이 만군의 주로부터 비롯된 것이 아니냐?
13 Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
14 이는 물들이 바다를 덮음같이 땅이 주의 영광의 지식으로 가득찰 것이기 때문이라.
14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
15 ¶ 자기 이웃에게 음주를 권하는 자에게 화가 있기를 바라노라! 또한 너로 하여금 그들의 벌거벗음을 보게 하려고 너의 술병을 그 이웃에게 두어 그 또한 취하게 하는 자에게 화가 있기를 바라노라!
15 ¶ Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!
16 너는 영광대신 수치로 가득 채워졌도다. 너 또한 마시고 너의 포피를 드러낼지어다. 주의 오른손의 잔이 너에게 돌아올 것이요, 수치스러운 토물이 너의 영광 위에 있으리라.
16 Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD'S right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory.
17 이는 레바논의 폭력이 너를 덮을 것이요, 그들을 무섭게 한 짐승들의 해침도 그러할 것이기 때문이니, 그 까닭인즉 사람들의 피 때문이요, 그 지역과 그 도시와 그 안에 거하는 모든 자의 폭력으로 인함이라.
17 For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
18 ¶ 새겨진 형상이 무슨 유익을 주기에 그것을 만든 이가 그것을 새겼느냐? 주조된 형상과 거짓말들의 선생은 무슨 유익을 주기에 그의 제품을 만드는 자가 그것을 신뢰하고 말 못 하는 우상들을 만드는 것이냐?
18 ¶ What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?
19 나무토막에게 말하기를, ‘깨어나소서.’ 하고, 말 못 하는 돌에게 말하기를, ‘일어나소서. 그분이 가르치시리라!’ 하는 자에게 화가 있기를 바라노라! 보라, 그것이 금과 은으로 덮였으니, 그것의 중심부에는 호흡이 전혀 없도다.
19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.
20 그러나 주는 그의 거룩한 전 안에 있도다. 온 땅은 그 앞에서 잠잠할지어다.”
20 But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
