1 오, 이스라엘 자녀들아, 주가 너희를 대적하여 말한 이 말을 들으라. 내가 이집트 지역에서 데리고 올라온 전체 족속을 대적하여 이같이 일러 말하노라.

1 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

2 나는 땅의 모든 족속들 중에서 너희만을 알았노라. 그러므로 내가 너희의 모든 죄악들로 인하여 너희를 처벌하겠노라.

2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

3 두 사람이 동의하지 않고서 그들이 동행할 수 있겠느냐?

3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

4 사자가 먹이가 없을 때 그가 숲속에서 포효하겠느냐? 젊은 사자가 아무것도 잡지 못하였다면 그가 자신의 굴에서 울음소리를 내겠느냐?

4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

5 새가 그를 노리는 덫이 없는 땅 위에서 올무에 빠질 수 있겠느냐? 누군가가 전혀 아무것도 잡지 못하였는데 올무를 땅에서 집어 올리겠느냐?

5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?

6 도시 안에서 나팔이 불리는데 백성이 무서워하지 않겠느냐? 주께서 그것을 행하지 아니하셨는데 도시 안에 해악이 있겠느냐?

6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

7 확실히 주 하나님께서 자신의 종들인 예언자들에게 자신의 비밀을 계시하시지 않고서는 그분께서 아무것도 행하지 않으시리라.

7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

8 사자가 포효하였는데 누가 두려워하지 아니하겠느냐? 주 하나님께서 말씀하셨는데 누가 예언하지 않을 수 있겠느냐?

8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

9 ¶ 아슈돗의 궁전들에서와 이집트 지역의 궁전들에서 공표하여 말하기를, “사마리아의 산들 위에 스스로 집결하여 그곳 한가운데 있는 엄청난 소란들과, 그곳의 한가운데 있는 압제받는 자들을 보라.” 하라.

9 ¶ Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

10 이는 그들이 옳은 일을 하는 법을 모르기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라. 그들은 자신들의 궁전들에서 폭력과 강탈을 쌓아 올리는도다.

10 For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

11 그러므로 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 바로 그 지역 주위에 대적이 있으리라. 그리고 그가 너에게서 너의 힘을 끌어내릴 것이요, 너의 궁전들은 약탈당하리라.

11 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

12 주가 이같이 말하노라. 마치 목자가 사자의 입에서 두 다리나 귀 한 조각을 꺼내듯이, 이처럼 사마리아에서 침상 구석에 거하고, 다마스쿠스에서 침대에 거하는 이스라엘 자녀들이 꺼내어지리라.

12 Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.

13 너희는 듣고 야곱의 집 안에서 증언하라. 만군의 하나님인 주 하나님이 말하노라.

13 Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,

14 내가 이스라엘의 불법들을 그의 위에 벌하는 날에는 내가 벧엘의 제단들도 벌하리라. 그리고 그 제단의 뿔들이 끊어져 땅바닥에 떨어지리라.

14 That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

15 그리고 내가 겨울 집을 여름 집과 더불어 치겠노라. 그리하면 상아 집들은 사라질 것이요, 거대한 집들은 끝이 나리라. 주가 말하노라.

15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.
