1 주 하나님께서 나에게 이와 같이 보이셨도다. 그런즉 보라, 나중에 자라는 풀이 싹을 내기 시작할 때 그분께서 풀무치들을 형성하셨도다. 그리고 보라, 그것은 왕의 풀들이 베어진 후 나중에 자라나는 것이었도다.
1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.
2 그리고 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그것들이 그 지역의 풀을 먹는 것을 끝마친 그때 내가 말씀드리기를, “오, 주 하나님이여, 제가 당신께 간청하오니, 용서하여 주소서. 야곱이 누구를 힘입어 일어나겠나이까? 이는 그가 미약하기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.
2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
3 주께서 이로 인하여 돌이키셨더라. 주가 말하노라. “그 일은 일어나지 아니하리라.”
3 The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.
4 ¶ 주 하나님께서 나에게 이와 같이 보여주셨더라. 그런즉 보라, 주 하나님께서 불로 다투시려고 부르셨으니, 그것이 거대한 깊음을 집어삼켰고 일부분을 먹어 치웠도다.
4 ¶ Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.
5 그때 내가 말씀드리기를, “오, 주 하나님이여, 제가 당신께 간청하오니, 중단하여 주소서. 야곱이 누구를 힘입어 일어나겠나이까? 이는 그가 미약하기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.
5 Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
6 주께서 이로 인하여 돌이키셨더라. 주 하나님이 말하노라. “이 일 또한 일어나지 아니하리라.”
6 The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.
7 ¶ 그분께서 나에게 이와 같이 보여주셨더라. 그런즉 보라, 주께서 다림줄로 만들어진 벽 위에 서셨고 그분의 손에는 다림줄이 들려 있었더라.
7 ¶ Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
8 그러고 나서 주께서 나에게 말씀하시기를, “아모스야, 너는 무엇을 보느냐?” 하셨도다. 그런즉 내가 말씀드리기를, “다림줄이니이다.” 하였더라. 그때 주께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “보라, 내가 다림줄을 나의 백성 이스라엘의 한가운데 두겠노라. 내가 이제부터 그들 곁을 다시는 지나가지 아니하겠노라.
8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
9 그런즉 이삭의 높은 처소들은 황량할 것이요, 이스라엘의 성소들이 황폐하게 되리라. 그리하여 내가 여로보암의 집을 대적하여 칼을 차고 일어나겠노라.”
9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10 ¶ 그때 벧엘의 제사장 아마지야가 이스라엘 왕 여로보암에게 사람을 보내며 이같이 말하였더라. “이스라엘 집 한가운데서 아모스가 당신을 대적하여 음모를 꾸몄나이다. 그 지역이 그의 모든 말들을 참을 수 없나이다.
10 ¶ Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
11 이는 아모스가 이와 같이 말하기를, ‘여로보암은 칼에 의하여 죽을 것이요, 이스라엘은 반드시 그들의 본토에서부터 포로로 끌려가리라.’ 하기 때문이니이다.”
11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.
12 또한 아마지야가 아모스에게 이같이 말하였더라. “오, 너, 선견자야, 가라. 너는 유다 지역으로 도망치라. 그리하여 거기서 빵을 먹고 거기서 예언하라.
12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
13 그러나 이제부터 벧엘에서 다시 예언하지 말라. 이는 그곳이 왕의 예배당이요, 그곳이 왕의 뜰이기 때문이라.”
13 But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court.
14 ¶ 그때 아모스가 대답하였고 아마지야에게 이같이 말하였도다. “나는 예언자도 아니었으며, 또한 나는 예언자의 아들도 아니었도다. 오히려 나는 목부이자 돌무화과나무 열매를 모으는 채집꾼이었도다.
14 ¶ Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
15 그런데 내가 양 떼를 따르는 동안 주께서 나를 취하셨으니, 주께서 나에게 말씀하시기를, ‘가라. 나의 백성 이스라엘에게 예언하라.’ 하셨도다.
15 And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
16 ¶ 그러므로 이제 너는 주의 말씀을 들으라. 너는 말하기를, ‘이스라엘을 대적하여 예언하지 말라. 그리고 이삭의 집을 대적하여 너의 말을 떨어뜨리지 말라.’ 하는도다.
16 ¶ Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.
17 그러므로 주가 이같이 말하노라. 너의 아내는 도시 안에서 창녀가 될 것이요, 너의 아들들과 너의 딸들은 칼에 의하여 쓰러질 것이요, 너의 토지는 측량줄에 의하여 분배될 것이요, 너는 어느 오염된 토지 안에서 죽으리라. 그리하여 이스라엘은 반드시 그의 지역에서 포로로 끌려가리라.”
17 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
