1 너희는 이제 주가 말하는 것을 들으라. 일어나서 너는 산들 앞에서 강력히 주장하라. 그리하여 언덕들이 너의 음성을 듣게 하라.
1 Hear ye now what the LORD saith; Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.
2 오, 산들아, 너희, 땅의 강한 기초들아, 너희는 주의 논란을 들으라. 이는 주가 그의 백성과 논란을 일으키시기 때문이니, 그가 이스라엘과 변론하리라.
2 Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD'S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.
3 오, 나의 백성아, 내가 너에게 무엇을 행하였느냐? 그리고 어떤 점에서 내가 너를 지치게 하였느냐? 나를 대적하여 증언하라.
3 O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.
4 이는 내가 너를 이집트 지역에서 데리고 올라왔고 종들의 집에서 너를 구속하였기 때문이라. 그리하여 내가 너의 앞에 모세와 아론과 미리암을 보냈도다.
4 For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
5 오, 나의 백성아, 모압 왕 발락이 무엇을 도모하였는지와, 브올의 아들 발라암이 싯팀에서 길갈까지 그에게 무슨 대답을 하였는지를 이제 기억하라. 이는 너희가 주의 의를 알게 하려 함이라.
5 O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.
6 ¶ 내가 무엇을 가지고 주 앞에 나아가서 높으신 하나님 앞에 내 몸을 숙여 절할까? 내가 번제물들을 가지고, 일 년 된 송아지들을 가지고 그분 앞에 나아갈까?
6 ¶ Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?
7 주께서 수천의 숫양들이나 수만의 기름의 강물들을 기뻐하실까? 내가 나의 불법으로 인하여 나의 첫 태생을, 나의 혼의 죄로 인하여 내 몸의 열매를 내어 드릴까?
7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
8 오, 사람아, 그분께서 무엇이 선한 것인지 너에게 보이셨도다. 그런즉 주께서 너에게 요구하시는 것은 오직 정의롭게 행하고 자비를 사랑하며 너의 하나님과 겸손하게 동행하는 것이 아니냐?
8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
9 주의 음성이 도시를 향하여 부르짖나니, 지혜의 사람은 당신의 이름을 보리이다. 너희는 그 막대기와 그것을 임명하신 분의 말씀을 들으라.
9 The LORD'S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.
10 ¶ 사악한 자의 집에 사악한 보물들과 가증하게 줄여 놓은 도량이 아직 있느냐?
10 ¶ Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?
11 내가 사악한 저울들과 속임수로 가득한 저울추들을 담은 가방과 더불어 그들을 순수하다고 여기겠느냐?
11 Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?
12 이는 그곳의 부유한 사람들은 폭력으로 가득 찼고 그곳의 거주자들은 거짓말들을 내뱉었으며 그들의 혀는 그들의 입안에서 속임수로 가득하기 때문이라.
12 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
13 그러므로 나 또한 너를 침으로써 너를 병들게 하고, 너의 죄들로 인하여 너를 황량하게 하겠노라.
13 Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.
14 너는 먹을 것이나 만족하지 못하리라. 그리하여 너의 던져짐이 너의 한가운데 있으리라. 또 너는 붙잡을 것이나 구출하지 못하리라. 그리고 네가 구출하는 것은 내가 칼에 내놓겠노라.
14 Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.
15 너는 씨를 뿌릴 것이나 네가 거두지는 못하리라. 너는 올리브들을 밟을 것이나 네가 기름을 너의 몸에 붓지는 못하리라. 또 너는 달콤한 포도즙을 밟을 것이나 포도즙을 마시지는 못하리라.
15 Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.
16 ¶ 이는 오므리의 규례들과, 아합 집의 모든 행위들이 지켜지고 너희가 그들의 조언들 가운데 살아가기 때문이라. 이는 내가 너를 황무지로 만들게 하려 함이요, 그곳의 거주자들을 쉭쉭대는 야유 거리로 만들고자 함이라. 그러므로 너희는 나의 백성의 치욕을 짊어지리라.
16 ¶ For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.
