1 일백이십 명의 통치자들을 왕국 위에 세워서 왕국 전체를 다스리게 하는 것이 다리우스를 기쁘게 하였더라.
1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
2 그러면서 이들 위에 세 총리를 세웠더라. 세 총리 중에서 다니엘이 첫째였더라. 이는 통치자들이 그들에게 결산들을 하게 하여 왕이 손해를 입지 않게 하려 함이더라.
2 And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
3 그때 이 다니엘은 탁월한 영이 그의 안에 있었기 때문에 총리들과 통치자들보다 더 총애를 받았더라. 그런즉 왕이 그를 세워 온 국토를 다스리게 하려고 생각하였더라.
3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
4 ¶ 그때 총리들과 통치자들이 왕국에 관하여 다니엘을 대적할 구실을 찾으려고 하였더라. 그러나 그들은 어떤 구실이나 잘못도 발견할 수 없었더라. 이는 그가 신실하였기 때문이요, 그의 안에 어떤 과오나 잘못도 없었기 때문이더라.
4 ¶ Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
5 그때 이 사람들이 말하기를, “우리가 다니엘의 하나님의 율법에 관하여 그를 대적할 구실을 찾지 못한다면우리는 이 다니엘을 대적할 어떤 구실도 발견하지 못하리라.” 하였더라.
5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
6 그때 이 총리들과 통치자들이 함께 결집하여 왕에게 이르러 그에게 이와 같이 말하였더라. “다리우스왕이여, 영원토록 사소서.
6 Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
7 오, 왕이여, 왕의 규례를 확립하고 굳건한 칙령을 제정하고자, 왕국의 모든 총리들과 총독들과 통치자들과 조언자들과 대장들이 함께 의논하였나니, 곧 누구든지 삼십일 동안 당신 외에 어느 신이나 사람에게 한 번이라도 청원을 한다면 그는 사자들의 굴 속으로 던져지리라는 것이니이다.
7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
8 오, 왕이여, 이제 그 칙령을 확립하시어 그 문서에 서명하소서. 이는 메데 사람들과 페르시아인들의 법, 곧 변경하지 못하는 법에 따라 그것이 수정되지 못하게 하려 함이니이다.”
8 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
9 이러한 이유로 다리우스왕이 그 문서와 그 칙령에 서명하였더라.
9 Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.
10 ¶ 이제 다니엘이 그 문서가 서명되었음을 알았을 때 그는 자기 집 안으로 들어갔더라. 그러고는 그의 침실 안에서 예루살렘을 향하여 그의 창문들을 열어 둔 채 그가 자신이 예전부터 하던 대로 하루에 세 번씩 자신의 두 무릎을 꿇고 기도하며 그의 하나님 앞에 감사들을 드렸더라.
10 ¶ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
11 그때 이 사람들이 회동하여 다니엘이 그의 하나님 앞에서 기도하고 간구하고 있는 것을 발견하였더라.
11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
12 그때 그들이 가까이 나아와서 왕의 칙령에 관하여 왕 앞에서 고하기를, “오, 왕이여, 삼십 일 안에 당신 외에 어떤 신이나 사람에게 한 번이라도 청원을 하는 자는 각자 모두 사자들의 굴 속으로 던져지리라는 칙령에 친히 서명하지 아니하셨나이까?” 하였더라. 왕이 대답하여 말하기를, “메데 사람들과 페르시아인들의 법, 곧 변경하지 못하는 법에 따라 그것은 사실이라.” 하였더라.
12 Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
13 그때 그들이 왕 앞에서 대답하여 말하기를, “오, 왕이여, 유다의 포로로 잡혀 갔던 자들의 자녀들에 속하는 그 다니엘이 당신을 유념하지 아니하고 당신께서 서명하신 그 칙령도 유념하지 아니하며 오히려 하루에 세 번씩 자신의 청원을 하나이다.” 하였더라.
13 Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
14 그때 왕이 이 말들을 들었을 때, 그는 자신을 심히 불쾌하게 여겼고 다니엘을 구출하려고 자신의 마음을 그에게 두었더라. 그리하여 그가 해가 질 때까지 그를 구출하려고 애썼더라.
14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.
15 그때 이 사람들이 결집하여 왕에게 이르러 왕에게 말하기를, “오, 왕이여, 메데 사람들과 페르시아인들의 법이 있음을 아시고, 왕께서 확립하신 어떤 칙령이나 규례도 수정될 수 없다는 것을 아소서.” 하였더라.
15 Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.
16 그때 왕이 명령하였더니, 그들이 다니엘을 데려와서 그를 사자들의 굴 속에 던져 넣었더라. 이때 왕이 다니엘에게 일러 말하기를, “네가 지속적으로 섬기는 너의 하나님, 그분께서 너를 구출하시리라.” 하였더라.
16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
17 그러고 나서 돌 하나가 주어져 그 굴의 입구 위에 얹어졌으니, 왕이 그것을 자기 자신의 인장 반지와 그의 고관들의 인장 반지로 그것에 인장을 찍었더라. 이는 다니엘에 관한 그 목적이 수정되지 못하게 하려 함이라.
17 And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
18 ¶ 그때 왕은 자기 궁전으로 가서 금식하며 밤을 지새웠더라. 또한 음악하는 악기들도 그의 앞으로 들이지 아니하였더라. 그리하여 그의 잠이 그에게서 떠나 버렸더라.
18 ¶ Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.
19 그때 왕이 아주 이른 아침에 일어나서 서둘러 사자들의 굴로 갔더라.
19 Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
20 그리고 그가 그 굴에 도착하자 그가 애통하는 음성으로 다니엘에게 외쳤더라. 왕이 다니엘에게 일러 말하기를, “오, 살아 계신 하나님의 종 다니엘아, 네가 지속적으로 섬기는 너의 하나님께서 사자들로부터 너를 능히 구출하실 수 있느냐?” 하였더라.
20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
21 그때 다니엘이 왕에게 이같이 말하였더라. “오, 왕이여, 영원토록 사소서.
21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
22 나의 하나님께서 그분의 천사를 보내시어 사자들의 입을 다물게 하셨기에 그것들이 저에게 해를 끼치지 못하였나이다. 이는 그분 앞에서 제 안에 무고함이 발견되었기 때문이니이다. 그리고 오, 왕이여, 당신 앞에서도 제가 아무런 해를 끼치지 아니하였나이다.”
22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
23 그때 왕이 그로 인하여 지극히 반가워하며 그들에게 다니엘을 굴에서 끌어올리도록 명령하였더라. 그렇게 하여 다니엘이 그 굴에서 끌어올려졌는데 어떤 식의 손상도 그에게서 발견되지 아니하였으니, 그가 그의 하나님을 믿었기 때문이라.
23 Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
24 ¶ 그러고 나서 왕이 명령하였더니, 그들이 다니엘을 고소한 그 사람들을 데려왔더라. 그리하여 그들은 저들을 사자들의 굴 속으로 던졌는데 그들과 그들의 자식들과 그들의 아내들을 던졌더라. 그러자 사자들이 그들을 장악하였으니, 그들이 굴 바닥에 닿기도 전에 사자들이 그들을 그들의 뼈들까지 전부 산산이 부수었더라.
24 ¶ And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
25 ¶ 그때 다리우스왕이 온 땅에 거하는 모든 백성들과 민족들과 언어들에게 기록하였더라. “너희에게 화평이 크게 늘어나기를 바라노라.
25 ¶ Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
26 내가 한 칙령을 제정하노니, 곧 나의 왕국에서 각각의 모든 통치권 안에 있는 사람들은 다니엘의 하나님 앞에서 떨고 두려워하라. 이는 그분께서 살아 계신 하나님이시요, 영원토록 변함없으신 분이시며, 그분의 멸망하지 아니할 왕국도 변함이 없고, 그분의 통치권은 끝까지 이어질 것이기 때문이라.
26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
27 그분께서는 구출하시고 구조하시나니, 친히 하늘과 땅에서 표적들과 이적들을 발휘하시느니라. 그분께서 다니엘을 사자들의 권세에서 구출하셨도다.”
27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
28 그렇게 하여 다니엘이 다리우스의 통치와 페르시아인 키루스의 통치 때에 번영하였더라.
28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
