1 그때 예루살렘으로부터 온 바리새파 사람들과, 서기관들 중 어떤 자들이 그분께 함께 나아왔더라.

Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.

2 그런데 그들이 그분의 제자들 중 일부가 더럽혀진 손으로, 즉 다시 말해 씻기지 않은 손으로 빵을 먹는 것을 목격하자 그들이 트집을 잡았더라.

And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.

3 이는 바리새파 사람들과 모든 유대인들, 곧 그들은 장로들의 전통을 지키므로 자신들의 손을 여러 번 씻지 아니하고는 먹지 아니하기 때문이라.

For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.

4 그리하여 그들이 시장에서 돌아올 때면 그들은 자신들이 씻지 아니하고는 먹지 아니하니라. 그리고 그들이 지키도록 수용해 온 다른 많은 것들도 있는데 잔들과 단지들의 세척과 놋그릇들과 탁자들의 세척과 같은 것이더라.

And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.

5 그때 바리새파 사람들과 서기관들이 그분께 여쭈기를, “어찌하여 당신의 제자들은 장로들의 전통을 따라 살아가지 아니하고 오히려 씻기지 않은 손으로 빵을 먹나이까?” 하였더라.

Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

6 그분께서 그들에게 이같이 대답하여 말씀하셨느니라. “이사-야가 너희 위선자들에 대하여 잘 예언하였도다. 기록된 바와 같으니, ‘이 백성이 그들의 입술로는 나를 공경하나 그들의 마음은 나에게서 멀리 있도다.

He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

7 그러면서도 그들이 사람들의 명령들을 교리들로 가르치면서 나를 헛되이 경배하는도다.’ 하였도다.

Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

8 이는 너희가 하나님의 명령을 치워 놓고는 단지들과 잔들의 세척과 같은 사람들의 전통을 지키기 때문이라. 그러면서 이와 같이 다른 많은 것들을 너희가 행하는도다.”

For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

9 이어서 그분께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너희가 너희 자신의 전통을 지키기 위하여 너희는 하나님의 명령을 아주 잘 거절하는도다.

And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

10 이는 모세가 말하기를, ‘너의 아버지와 너의 어머니를 공경하라.’ 그리고 ‘누구나 아버지나 어머니를 저주하면, 그를 처형할지니라.’ 하였기 때문이라.

For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

11 그러나 너희는 말하기를, ‘만일 어떤 사람이 그의 아버지나 어머니에게 ‘무엇으로든지 저로 말미암아 당신이 유익을 얻게 되는 것은 코르반, 즉 다시 말해 예물이 되나이다.’라고 말하면 그는 면제를 받으리라.’ 하느니라.

But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.

12 그런즉 그가 자기 아버지나 자기 어머니를 위하여 조금이라도 행하는 것을 너희가 더 이상 용납하지 아니하니,

And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;

13 너희가 전한 너희의 전통으로 하나님의 말씀을 아무런 효력이 없도록 만들고 있도다. 그러면서 이와 같이 많은 것들을 너희가 행하는도다.”

Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

14 ¶ 이후에 그분께서 모든 백성을 그분께로 부르셨을 때, 그들에게 친히 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너희 각인은 내게 경청하고 이해하라.

¶ And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:

15 사람 밖에서 그 안으로 들어가면서 그를 더럽힐 수 있는 것은 아무것도 없느니라. 그러나 그에게서 밖으로 나오는 것들, 곧 그것들이 그 사람을 더럽히는 것들이라.

There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

16 누구든 들을 귀들이 있다면 그는 들을지어다.”

If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

17 그러자 그분께서 백성을 떠나 집 안으로 들어가셨을 때 그분의 제자들이 그 비유에 관하여 그분께 여쭈었더라.

And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

18 그러자 그분께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하시니라. “너희도 그렇게 이해하지 못하느냐? 어떤 것이든지 밖에서 그 사람 안으로 들어가면 그것은 그를 더럽힐 수 없음을 너희가 모르느냐?

And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

19 이는 그것이 그의 마음속으로 들어가는 것이 아니며 오히려 뱃속으로 들어가서, 모든 음식들을 깨끗이 제거하고 뒷간으로 빠져나가기 때문이라.”

Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

20 이어서 그분께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “그 사람에게서 나오는 것, 그것이 그 사람을 더럽히느니라.

And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

21 이는 속에서, 곧 사람들의 마음에서 악한 생각들과 간음들과 음행들과 살인들과

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22 도둑질들과 탐욕과 사악함과 속임수와 음란과 악한 눈과 신성 모독과 교만과 어리석음이 나오기 때문이라.

Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

23 이 모든 악한 것들이 속에서 나와 그 사람을 더럽히느니라.”

All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

24 ¶ 그런 다음에 그분께서 거기서 일어나시어 티레와 시돈의 지경들로 들어가 어떤 집 안으로 들어가셨는데, 누구도 그것을 모르게 하려 하셨더라. 그러나 그분은 숨겨질 수 없었더라.

¶ And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.

25 이는 어떤 여자 한 명이 그분에 관하여 듣고 와서 그분의 두 발 앞에 엎드렸기 때문이라. 그녀의 어린 딸이 한 불결한 영을 지니고 있었더라.

For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:

26 그 여자는 헬라인이었는데, 민족으로는 수로페니키아인이더라. 그런즉 그녀가 그분께 간청하여 그분이 자기 딸에게서 마귀를 쫓아내 주시기를 구하였더라.

The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

27 그러나 예수님께서 그녀에게 말씀하시기를, “먼저 자녀들의 배가 채워지게 하라. 이는 자녀들의 빵을 집어 개들에게 그것을 던져 주는 것은 온당하지 아니하기 때문이라.” 하셨느니라.

But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.

28 그러자 그녀가 대답하여 그분께 말씀드리기를, “주여, 그러하니이다. 그럼에도 식탁 아래의 개들은 자녀들의 빵 부스러기들을 먹나이다.” 하였더라.

And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.

29 이에 그분께서 그녀에게 말씀하시기를, “이 말을 하였으니, 너의 길을 가라. 마귀가 너의 딸에게서 나갔느니라.” 하셨더라.

And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.

30 이후에 그녀가 자기 집에 돌아왔을 때 그녀는 마귀가 나간 것과 자기 딸이 침상 위에 눕혀져 있는 것을 발견하였더라.

And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

31 ¶ 그런 다음에 그분께서 다시 티레와 시돈의 지경들로부터 떠나시어 데카폴리스 연안들 한가운데를 통과하여 갈릴리 바다에 이르셨더라.

¶ And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.

32 그러자 그들이 한 사람을 그분께 데리고 왔는데 그가 귀먹고 언어 장애를 갖고 있더라. 그런즉 그들이 그분께서 친히 그에게 손을 올려주시기를 간청하니라.

And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.

33 이에 그분께서 그를 무리로부터 따로 데리고 가셔서 그의 두 귓속에다 자신의 손가락들을 넣으셨으며, 그분께서 침을 뱉으신 다음 그의 혀에 손을 대셨더라.

And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;

34 그리고 그분께서 하늘을 우러러보고 탄식하시며 그에게 말씀하시기를, “엡파다.” 하시니라. 그것은 곧, “열리라.”라는 뜻이라.

And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.

35 그러자 즉각 그의 두 귀가 열리고 그의 혀를 당기는 줄이 풀렸으니, 그가 명료하게 말하였더라.

And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.

36 그런 다음에 그분께서 그들에게 명하셨으니, 그들이 아무에게도 알려서는 안 된다고 하셨더라. 그러나 그분께서 그들에게 명하면 명하실수록 그들은 그것을 더욱더 대대적으로 퍼뜨렸더라.

And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;

37 그러자 그들이 심히 깜짝 놀라며 말하기를, “그분께서 모든 것들을 훌륭히 행하셨도다. 그분께서 귀먹은 자도 듣게 하시고 말 못 하는 자도 말하게 하시는도다.” 하였더라.

And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
