1 에베소 교회의 천사에게 기록하라. 그의 오른손 안에 일곱 별들을 쥐고 있는 이, 곧 일곱 금 등잔대들 한가운데 거니는 이가 이런 것들을 말하노라.
1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
2 내가 너의 행위들과 너의 수고와 너의 인내와 네가 악한 자들을 참을 수 없었던 것을 아노라. 또 자신들이 사도들이라 말하지만 사도가 아닌 자들을 네가 시험하여 그들이 거짓말쟁이들임을 찾아냈도다.
2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
3 또한 네가 참고 인내하였으며 나의 이름을 위하여 수고하였고 낙담하지 아니하였도다.
3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
4 그럼에도 불구하고 내가 너를 반대하는 것이 다소 있나니, 네가 너의 처음 사랑을 버린 까닭이라.
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5 그러므로 네가 어디에서부터 떨어졌는지 기억하고 회개하여 처음 행위들을 하라. 그러지 않고 네가 회개하지 않으면 내가 너에게 속히 오겠고 너의 등잔대를 그의 위치에서 옮기겠노라.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
6 그러나 이것이 너에게 있으니, 네가 니콜라파 사람들의 행실들을 증오한 것이라. 나도 그것을 증오하노라.
6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7 귀 있는 자, 그는 성령께서 교회들에게 말씀하시는 것을 들을지어다. 이기는 자에게는 내가 하나님의 낙원 한가운데 있는 생명나무에서 나는 것을 주어 먹게 하겠노라.
7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
8 다음으로 스미르나에 있는 교회의 천사에게 기록하라. 죽었으나 살아 있는, 처음이자 마지막인 이가 이런 것들을 말하노라.
8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
9 나는 너의 행위들과 환란과 빈궁을 아노니, (그러나 너는 부유하도다.) 자신들이 유대인들이라고 말하지만 아니며 오히려 사탄의 회당인 자들의 신성 모독을 내가 아노라.
9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
10 네가 고통받게 될 그런 일들 중 아무것도 두려워하지 말라. 보라, 너희로 하여금 정련을 받게 하기 위하여 마귀가 너희 중 일부를 감옥 속에 던져 넣을 것이라. 그런즉 너희가 십 일 동안 환란을 받으리라. 너는 죽기까지 신실하라. 그리하면 내가 너에게 생명의 왕관을 주겠노라.
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
11 귀 있는 자, 그는 교회들에게 성령께서 말씀하시는 것을 들을지어다. 이기는 자는 둘째 사망으로부터 해를 입지 아니하리라.
11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
12 다음으로 페르가모스에 있는 교회의 천사에게 기록하라. 날카로운 양날검을 가진 이가 이런 것들을 말하노라.
12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
13 나는 너의 행위들과 네가 거하는 곳, 바로 사탄의 자리가 있는 곳을 아노라. 그런즉 너는 나의 이름을 굳게 붙들고 있으며 나의 믿음을 부인하지 않았으니, 바로 안티파스가 나의 신실한 순교자가 된 그날들에 그리하였도다. 그는 너희 가운데 사탄이 거하는 곳에서 살해당한 자라.
13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
14 그러나 내가 너를 반대하는 것들이 몇 가지 있나니, 거기에 발라암의 교리를 붙드는 자들이 너에게 있기 때문이라. 발라암은 이스라엘 자녀들 앞에 걸려 넘어지게 하는 장애물을 던져 놓도록 발-락을 가르친 자로서 우상들에게 희생 제물로 바쳐진 것들을 먹게 하고 음행하게 하였느니라.
14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
15 이처럼 너에게도 니콜라파 사람들의 교리를 붙드는 자들이 있으니, 그것은 내가 증오하는 것이라.
15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
16 회개하라. 그리하지 않으면 내가 너에게 속히 올 것이요, 내 입의 검으로 그들을 대적하여 싸우겠노라.
16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17 귀 있는 자, 그는 성령께서 교회들에게 말씀하시는 것을 들을지어다. 내가 이기는 자에게는 숨겨진 만나를 먹도록 주겠으며 흰 돌 하나를 그에게 주겠으니, 그 돌에는 그것을 받는 자를 제외하고는 아무도 모르는 새로운 이름이 기록되어 있느니라.
17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
18 다음으로 티아티라에 있는 교회의 천사에게 기록하라. 하나님의 아들, 곧 그의 두 눈이 불의 화염 같고 그의 두 발이 정제된 놋 같은 이가 이런 것들을 말하노라.
18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
19 내가 너의 행위들과 성도의 사랑과 섬김과 믿음과 너의 인내와 너의 행위들을 아노니, 처음 행위들보다 마지막 행위들이 더 많도다.
19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
20 그래도 내가 너를 반대하는 것들이 몇 가지 있나니, 네가 이세벨, 그 여자를 용납하였기 때문이라. 그녀는 자신을 여예언자라 부르니, 나의 종들을 가르치고 미혹하여 음행하게 하고 우상들에게 희생 제물로 바쳐진 것들을 먹게 하는도다.
20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21 그리하여 내가 그녀에게 그녀의 음행을 회개할 기간을 주었노라. 그런데 그녀는 회개하지 아니하였도다.
21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22 보라, 내가 그녀를 침상에 던져 넣으리니, 그녀와 함께 간음한 자들도 스스로 자신들의 행실들을 회개하지 아니하면 대환란에 던져 넣으리라.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23 그리고 내가 그녀의 자녀들을 사망으로 죽이겠노라. 그리하면 모든 교회들은 알리니, 곧 나는 중심들과 마음들을 살피는 이라는 것이라. 그리고 내가 너희의 행위들에 따라 너희 각자에게 주겠노라.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
24 그러나 내가 너희에게 말하며 티아티라에 있는 나머지 사람들, 곧 이 교리를 가지고 있지 아니하고 그들이 말하는 대로 사탄의 깊은 것들을 모르는 자들 모두에게 말하노니, 내가 너희에게 다른 부담은 아무것도 지우지 아니하겠노라.
24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25 그러나 너희가 이미 가지고 있는 그것을 내가 올 때까지 굳게 붙들라.
25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 그리하면 이겨서 나의 행위들을 끝까지 지키는 자, 그에게 내가 민족들을 다스리는 권능을 주겠노라.
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 그런즉 그는 철장으로 그들을 다스릴지니라. 토기장이의 그릇들같이 그들이 산산이 부서지리니, 바로 내가 나의 아버지께 받은 것과 같으니라.
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28 그리고 내가 그에게 새벽 별을 주겠노라.
28 And I will give him the morning star.
29 귀 있는 자, 그는 성령께서 교회들에게 말씀하시는 것을 들을지어다.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
