1 다음으로 다섯째 천사가 나팔을 울렸더니, 내가 하늘로부터 땅으로 떨어지는 별 하나를 보았도다. 그리고 그에게 끝없는 구렁의 열쇠가 주어졌더라.
1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
2 이에 그가 끝없는 구렁을 열자, 그 구렁에서 연기가 올라오는데 마치 거대한 용광로의 연기 같았더라. 이에 그 구렁의 연기로 인하여 해와 대기가 어두워졌더라.
2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
3 또한 연기 속에서 메뚜기들이 나와 땅 위로 올라왔고 그것들에게 권능이 주어졌는데 그것은 땅의 전갈들이 가진 권능과 같았더라.
3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4 그리고 그것들에게 명령이 주어졌으니, 그것들로 하여금 땅의 풀을 다치게 하지 말고, 어떤 푸른 것도 다치게 하지 말며, 어떤 나무도 해치지 말고, 다만 자신들의 이마 안에 하나님의 인장이 없는 그 사람들만 다치게 해야 한다는 것이었더라.
4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
5 또 그것들에게 명령이 주어졌으니, 그것들로 하여금 그들을 죽이지는 말고 다만 오 개월 동안 그들로 하여금 심히 고통받게 하라는 것이었더라. 그리고 그것들이 주는 심한 고통은 전갈이 사람을 쏠 때 그가 주는 심한 고통 같았더라.
5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
6 그리하여 그날들에는 사람들이 죽음을 구할 것이나 그것을 찾아내지 못할 것이며, 죽기를 갈망할 것이나 죽음이 그들에게서 도망하리라.
6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
7 그리고 그 메뚜기들의 형태들은 전투를 위해 예비된 말들 같았더라. 그리고 그것들의 머리들 위에는 금처럼 보이는 왕관들 같은 것이 있었고 그것들의 얼굴은 사람들의 얼굴 같았더라.
7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.
8 그리고 그것들은 여자들의 머리카락 같은 머리카락을 가졌고 그것들의 이빨은 사자들의 이빨 같았더라.
8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
9 그리고 그것들은 철 흉갑들 같은 흉갑들을 가졌더라. 그리고 그것들의 날개들의 소리는 전투를 향해 달려가는 많은 말들의 병거들 소리 같았더라.
9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.
10 그리고 그것들은 전갈들 같은 꼬리들을 가졌고 그것들의 꼬리들 안에 쏘는 침들이 있었더라. 그리고 그것들의 권능은 오 개월 동안 사람들을 해치는 것이었더라.
10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
11 그리고 그것들은 자기들을 다스리는 왕을 두었으니, 그는 끝없는 구렁의 천사니라. 그의 이름은 히브리어로 아바돈이라. 그러나 헬라어로는 아폴리온이란 그의 이름이 있더라.
11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
12 한 가지 화가 지나갔으나, 보라, 이후에는 두 가지 화가 더 임하느니라.
12 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.
13 다음으로 여섯째 천사가 나팔을 울렸는데 하나님 앞에 있는 금 제단의 네 개의 뿔에서 나오는 음성을 내가 들었으니,
13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
14 그 나팔을 가진 여섯째 천사에게 말하기를, “거대한 강 유프라테스 안에 묶여 있는 네 명의 천사들을 풀어 놓으라.” 하였더라.
14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
15 그리하여 네 명의 천사들이 풀려났는데, 그들은 사람들의 삼분의 일을 살해하도록 어떤 해와 어떤 달과 어떤 날과 어떤 시각을 위하여 예비된 자들이었더라.
15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
16 그리고 기병대의 수는 이억이었으니, 내가 그들의 수를 들었도다.
16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.
17 그리고 그와 같이 내가 현시 가운데 말들을 보았고 불의 흉갑들과 자신스와 유황의 흉갑들을 지닌 채 그 말들 위에 탄 자들을 보았도다. 그리고 말들의 머리는 사자들의 머리 같았고 그들의 입에서 불과 연기와 유황이 분출되었더라.
17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
18 이 세 가지에 의하여 사람들의 삼분의 일이 죽임을 당하였으니, 그것들의 입에서 분출된 불과 연기와 유황에 의하여 죽임을 당하였더라.
18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
19 이는 그것들의 권능이 그것들의 입안과 그것들의 꼬리들 안에 있기 때문이니, 그것들의 꼬리들은 뱀들 같았고 머리들도 있어서 그것들이 그 꼬리들로 해치기 때문이라.
19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.
20 그리고 이런 재앙들에 의하여 죽임을 당하지 않고 남은 사람들이 여전히 자신들의 손의 행위들을 회개하지 아니하였더라. 곧, 그들이 마귀들을 경배하는 것과 금과 은과 놋과 돌로 된 우상들과 나무로 된 우상들을 경배하는 것을 그치지 않았으니, 그 우상들은 볼 수도, 들을 수도, 걸을 수도 없는 것들이라.
20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
21 또한 그들은 그들의 살인들도, 그들의 마법들도, 그들의 음행도, 그들의 도둑질들도 회개하지 아니하였더라.
21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
