1 그러므로 형제들아, 내가 하나님의 자비들로 인하여 너희에게 간청하노니, 너희는 너희의 몸을 거룩하고 하나님께서 기꺼이 받으실 만한 살아 있는 희생 제물로 드리라. 이것이 너희의 합당한 섬김이라.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 그런즉 이 세상에 동화되지 말고 오히려 너희는 너희 생각을 새롭게 함으로써 변화를 받을지니, 너희로 하여금 하나님의 선하신 뜻과 기꺼이 받으실 만한 뜻과 완전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 입증하게 하려 함이라.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3 이는 내가 나에게 주신 그 은혜를 통하여 너희 가운데 있는 모든 사람에게 저마다 말하기 때문이니, 자신이 마땅히 생각해야 하는 것보다 자신을 더 높게 생각하지 말라. 오직 하나님께서 각인에게 나누어 주신 믿음의 분량에 따라 냉철하게 생각하라.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4 이는 우리가 한 몸 안에 많은 지체들을 가진 것같이 모든 지체들이 동일한 직을 가진 것이 아니기 때문이라.
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 이처럼 우리가 많아도 그리스도 안에서 하나의 몸이요, 각자는 서로의 지체들이라.
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6 그런즉 우리에게 주어지는 은혜에 따라 서로 다른 은사들을 가졌으니, 예언이면 우리가 믿음의 비례에 따라 예언하자.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 또는 사역이면 우리의 섬기는 일로, 가르치는 자이면 가르치는 일로,
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8 권면하는 자이면 권면하는 일로 우리가 섬기자. 주는 자이면 그는 그것을 순수함으로 행할지니, 다스리는 자이면 부지런함으로, 자비를 보이는 자이면 흔쾌함으로 행할지어다.
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
9 사랑에 가식이 없게 하라. 악한 것을 혐오하라. 선한 것에 밀착하라.
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 형제 사랑으로 서로한테 친절하게 애정을 가지라. 존중하는 가운데 서로를 더 낫게 여기라.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
11 일에는 게으르지 말고 영 안에서 열정적으로 주를 섬기라.
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 소망 가운데 크게 기뻐하라. 환란 가운데 인내하라. 절박하게 계속 기도하라.
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 성도들의 필요에 맞게 나누어 주라. 환대하는 일에 자신을 내주라.
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 너희를 박해하는 자들을 축복하라. 축복하고 저주하지 말라.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 크게 기뻐하는 자들과 함께 크게 기뻐하라. 우는 자들과 함께 울라.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 서로를 향하여 동일한 생각을 품으라. 높은 것들을 생각하지 말고, 오히려 낮은 처지에 있는 사람들과 함께 낮아지라. 너희 자신의 망상들 가운데서 지혜롭게 되지 말라.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 아무에게도 악을 악으로 갚지 말라. 모든 사람들의 목전에서 정직한 일들을 대비하라.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 가능한 한 너희 편에서 할 수 있는 만큼 모든 사람들과 더불어 화평하게 살라.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 진심 어린 사랑을 받는 자들아, 스스로 복수하지 말라. 그보다는 오히려 진노하심에 맡기라. 이는 기록되기를, “복수는 내 것이라. 내가 되갚겠노라. 주가 말하노라.” 하였기 때문이라.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 그러므로 만일 너의 원수가 배고프다면, 그를 먹이라. 만일 그가 목마르다면, 그에게 마실 것을 주라. 이는 그렇게 함으로써 네가 그의 머리 위에 불붙은 숯들을 쌓아 올릴 것이기 때문이라.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 악에게 지지 말고 오히려 선으로 악을 이기라.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
