1 너희가 믿음이 약한 자를 받아들이되, 의심을 품게 하는 논박들을 하지 말라.
1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
2 이는 어떤 이는 자신이 모든 것들을 먹을 수 있다고 믿으나, 또 다른 이는 믿음이 약하여 야채들만 먹기 때문이라.
2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3 먹는 자는 먹지 아니하는 자를 멸시하지 않게 하라. 또 먹지 아니하는 자는 먹는 자를 판단하지 않게 하라. 이는 하나님께서 그를 받아들이셨기 때문이라.
3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
4 다른 사람의 종을 판단하는 너는 누구냐? 그가 서거나 쓰러지는 것이 그 자신의 주인에게 있도다. 진정 그가 붙들림을 받으리라. 이는 하나님께서 능히 그를 서게 하실 수 있기 때문이라.
4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5 어떤 사람은 한 날을 다른 날보다 중하게 여기고, 다른 사람은 모든 날을 저마다 똑같이 중하게 여기느니라. 모든 사람으로 하여금 저마다 자기 자신의 생각 안에서 완전히 확신하게 되도록 하라.
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6 날을 귀하게 여기는 자는 주를 위하여 그것을 귀하게 여기고 날을 귀하게 여기지 아니하는 자는 주를 위하여 그가 그것을 귀하게 여기지 아니하니라. 먹는 자는 주를 위하여 먹는 것이니, 그가 하나님께 감사들을 드리기 때문이라. 또 먹지 아니하는 자는 주를 위하여 그가 먹지 아니하고 하나님께 감사들을 드리느니라.
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7 이는 우리 중에 자기 자신을 향하여 사는 자가 아무도 없으며, 자기 자신을 향하여 죽는 자도 아무도 없기 때문이라.
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8 이는 우리가 산다 해도 우리는 주를 향하여 사는 것이요, 우리가 죽는다 해도 우리는 주를 향하여 죽는 것이기 때문이라. 그러므로 우리가 살든지 죽든지 우리는 주의 것이로다.
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9 이는 이런 취지로 그리스도께서 죽으셨을 뿐만 아니라, 일어나사 부활하셨기 때문이니, 그분께서 죽은 자들과 살아 있는 자들 모두의 주가 되려 하심이라.
9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10 그러나 어찌하여 너는 너의 형제를 판단하느냐? 아니면 어찌하여 너는 너의 형제를 무가치하게 여기느냐? 이는 우리 모두가 그리스도의 심판석 앞에 설 것이기 때문이라.
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11 이는 기록되기를, “주가 말하노라. 내가 살아 있으므로 맹세하노니, 모든 무릎마다 나에게 절할 것이요, 모든 혀마다 하나님께 자백하리라.” 하였기 때문이라.
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 그런즉 우리 각자가 하나님께 자기 자신에 관하여 회계 보고를 해야 하리라.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13 그러므로 우리가 다시는 서로를 판단하지 말자. 그보다는 오히려, 아무도 자기 형제의 길에 걸려 넘어지게 하는 장애물이나 쓰러질 계기를 두지 아니하였는지, 이것을 판단하라.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
14 내가 알고 또 주 예수를 통하여 확신하게 된 바는 그 자체로서 불결한 것은 아무것도 없다는 것이라. 다만 어떤 것을 불결하다고 여기는 자에게는, 그것이 그에게 불결하니라.
14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
15 그러나 만일 너의 형제가 너의 음식으로 비통하게 된다면 이제 너는 성도의 사랑으로 살아가는 것이 아니니라. 너의 음식으로 그를 망치지 말라. 그를 위하여 그리스도께서 죽으셨느니라.
15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
16 그런즉 너희의 선이 악한 말을 듣지 않게 하라.
16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
17 이는 하나님의 왕국은 먹는 것과 마시는 것이 아니요, 다만 성령님 안에서 의와 화평과 즐거움이기 때문이라.
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18 이는 이런 것들로 그리스도를 섬기는 자는 하나님께 기꺼이 받아들여지며 사람들에게 인정을 받기 때문이라.
18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19 그러므로 우리가 화평을 조성하는 일들과 그것으로 서로를 세워줄 수 있는 일들을 뒤따르자.
19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
20 음식으로 인하여 하나님의 일을 망치지 말라. 모든 것들은 정녕 순수하지만 실족하게 함으로 먹는 그 사람에게 그것은 악한 것이라.
20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.
21 고기도 먹지 아니하며, 포도즙도 마시지 아니하고, 너의 형제가 넘어지거나 실족하게 되거나 약하게 되는 어떤 것도 하지 아니하는 것이 좋으니라.
21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
22 네가 믿음이 있느냐? 하나님 앞에서 그 믿음을 너 자신에게 가지고 있으라. 자신이 수용하는 그 일로 자신을 정죄하지 아니하는 자는 행복하니라.
22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
23 그런즉 의심하는 자는 그가 먹을지라도 단죄를 받으니, 그가 믿음으로 먹지 아니하는 까닭이라. 이는 믿음에서 나지 아니하는 것은 무엇이나 죄이기 때문이라.
23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
