1 이제 그때 즈음에 헤롯왕이 교회의 어떤 이들을 핍박하려고 그의 두 손을 앞으로 뻗쳤더라.
1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2 그리하여 그가 요한의 형제 야고보를 칼로 죽였더라.
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3 그리고 그가 그것이 유대인들을 기쁘게 한 것을 보았기에 그는 여기에 더하여 베드로도 잡으려고 진행하였더라. (그때가 무교절의 날들이었더라.)
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
4 그리하여 그가 그를 체포한 후에 그는 그를 감옥 안에 집어넣고 그를 네 명씩 네 조의 군인들에게 그를 지키도록 넘겼으니, 이스터가 지나면 백성에게 그를 끌어낼 의도였더라.
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5 그러므로 베드로는 감옥에 갇혔으나 그를 위하여 교회의 중단 없는 기도가 하나님께 드려졌더라.
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
6 그리고 헤롯이 그를 끌어내려고 하였을 때 그날 밤 베드로가 두 군인 사이에서 두 사슬에 묶인 채 자고 있었더라. 또한 지키는 자들이 문 앞에서 감옥을 지켰더라.
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
7 그런데 보라, 주의 천사가 그에게 왔고 한 빛이 감옥 안을 비추었더라. 그런 다음에 그가 베드로의 옆구리를 쳤으며 그를 일으켜 세우며 말하기를, “속히 일어서라.” 하였더라. 그러자 그의 사슬들이 그의 두 손에서 벗겨져 떨어졌더라.
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
8 그리하여 그 천사가 그에게 말하기를, “스스로 띠를 두르고 가죽끈으로 매는 너의 신발들을 묶으라.” 하였더라. 이에 그가 그렇게 하고 나서 그가 그에게 말하기를, “너의 의복을 너에게 둘러 걸치고 나를 따르라.” 하니라.
8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
9 그리하여 그가 나와서 그를 따랐더라. 그리고 그 천사에 의하여 이루어진 그 일이 사실이었음을 알아채지 못하였더라. 다만 그는 현시를 보았다고 생각하였더라.
9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
10 그들이 첫 번째와 두 번째 감방을 지나친 후에 그들이 도시로 연결되는 철제 대문에 도착하였는데, 그것이 그 스스로 그들에게 열어 주었더라. 그러자 그들이 나갔고 한 거리를 통과하여 지나갔더라. 그러자 곧바로 그 천사가 그에게서 떠났더라.
10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.
11 그리하여 베드로가 제정신으로 돌아왔을 때 그가 말하기를, “이제야 내가 확실하게 아노라. 주께서 그분의 천사를 보내셨고 헤롯의 손에서 나를 구출하셨으며 유대인들인 백성의 모든 기대에서 나를 구출하셨도다.” 하였더라.
11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
12 그리하여 그가 그 일을 숙고한 후에 그가 마가란 이명으로 불리는 요한의 어머니인 마리아의 집으로 갔으니, 그곳은 많은 이들이 함께 모여 기도하는 곳이었더라.
12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
13 그리하여 베드로가 출입문을 두드렸을 때 로다란 이름으로 불리는 젊은 여인이 들으러 나왔더라.
13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
14 그리고 그녀가 베드로의 목소리를 알아차리자 그녀는 반가움으로 대문을 열지 않고 오히려 안으로 달려가서 베드로가 대문 앞에 서 있다는 것을 알렸더라.
14 And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15 그러자 그들이 그녀에게 말하기를, “네가 미쳤도다.” 하였더라. 그러나 그녀는 굳건하게 그것이 정말 그러하다고 주장하였더라. 그때 그들이 말하기를, “그것은 그의 천사라.” 하였더라.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
16 그러나 베드로가 계속 문을 두드렸으며 그들이 문을 열고 그를 보자 그들이 깜짝 놀랐더라.
16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
17 그러나 그는 그들에게 자신들의 침묵을 지키라고 손으로 신호를 보낸 후에 어떻게 주께서 그를 감옥에서 데리고 나오셨는지 그들에게 분명하게 밝혔더라. 그리고 그가 말하기를, “가라. 야고보에게 그리고 형제들에게 이런 일들을 보이라.” 하였더라. 그런 다음에 그가 떠났으며 또 다른 장소로 들어갔더라.
17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
18 이제 낮이 되자마자 베드로가 어떻게 되었는지에 관하여 군인들 사이에서 적지 않은 술렁임이 있었더라.
18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.
19 그리하여 헤롯이 그를 찾았는데 그를 발견하지 못하자 그는 지키는 자들을 심문하였고 그들이 사형에 처해질 것을 명령하였더라. 그리고 그가 유대에서 카이사랴로 내려갔고 거기에 거하였더라.
19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.
20 ¶ 그런데 헤롯은 티레와 시돈에 속한 자들을 몹시 불쾌하게 여겼더라. 그러나 그들은 한뜻이 되어 그에게 나아왔으니 왕의 시종장 블라스투스를 그들의 친구로 삼으면서 화평을 간절히 청하였더라. 이는 그들의 지방이 왕의 지방에 의하여 양식을 공급받았기 때문이라.
20 ¶ And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country.
21 그리하여 어느 지정된 날에 헤롯이 왕실 복장으로 차려입은 채 그의 보좌 위에 앉았고 그들에게 공식 연설을 하였더라.
21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22 그러자 백성이 환호하며 말하기를, “그것은 신의 음성이요, 사람의 음성이 아니로다.” 하였더라.
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 그러자 즉시 주의 천사가 그를 쳤으니, 그가 하나님께 영광을 돌리지 아니하였기 때문이라. 그러자 그가 구더기들에게 먹혀 숨을 거두었더라.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24 ¶ 그러나 하나님의 말씀은 증대하였고 번성하였더라.
24 ¶ But the word of God grew and multiplied.
25 그리고 그들이 그들의 사역을 완수한 후에 바나바와 사울은 예루살렘에서 되돌아왔고 그들과 함께 요한을 데려왔으니 그의 이명은 마가였더라.
25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
