1 나의 아들아, 만일 네가 나의 말들을 받아들이기를 원하고, 나의 명령들을 네게 간직하기를 원하여
1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 네가 너의 귀를 지혜에 기울이고, 너의 마음을 명철에 쏟는다면,
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 진정, 네가 지식을 향하여 부르짖고 명철을 위하여 너의 목소리를 높인다면,
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 네가 은을 구하듯 그녀를 구하고, 숨겨진 보물들을 찾듯이 그녀를 찾는다면,
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 그때 너는 주를 두려워하는 것을 이해할 것이요, 하나님의 지식을 발견하리라.
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 이는 주께서 지혜를 주시며, 그분의 입에서 지식과 명철이 나오기 때문이라.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 그분께서는 의로운 자들을 위하여 건전한 지혜를 쌓아 올리시느니라. 그분께서는 올바르게 살아가는 자들에게 방어막이 되시느니라.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 그분께서는 공의의 행로들을 지키시고, 자신의 성도들의 길을 보존하시느니라.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 그때 너는 의와 공의와 공평을 이해하리니, 진정 모든 선한 행로마다 이해하리라.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 ¶ 지혜가 너의 마음속으로 들어가고, 지식이 너의 혼에 기쁨을 줄 때,
10 ¶ When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 분별이 너를 보존할 것이요, 명철이 너를 지키리라.
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12 이는 악인의 길과, 왜곡된 것들을 말하는 사람으로부터 너를 구출하려 함이라.
12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13 그들은 올바른 행로들을 떠나 어둠의 길들 가운데 살아가며,
13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 악을 행하는 것을 크게 기뻐하고 사악한 자의 왜곡됨을 크게 즐거워하는 자들이요,
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15 그들의 길들은 뒤틀렸으며, 그들은 자신들의 행로들 가운데서 왜곡되어 있느니라.
15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
16 지혜가 타국 여자로부터, 곧 그녀의 말들로 아첨하는 타국인으로부터 너를 구출하리니,
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
17 그녀는 자신의 젊은 시절의 안내자를 저버리고, 그녀의 하나님의 언약을 잊어버리느니라.
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18 이는 그녀의 집이 죽음으로 기울고, 그녀의 행로들이 죽은 자들에게로 기울기 때문이라.
18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19 그녀에게 가는 자는 아무도 다시 되돌아오지 아니하나니, 그들은 생명의 행로들을 붙들지도 아니하느니라.
19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
20 지혜가 너로 하여금 선한 사람들의 길 가운데서 살아가게 하고, 의로운 자들의 행로들을 지키게 하리라.
20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21 이는 올바른 자들이 그 지역 가운데 거할 것이요, 완전한 자들이 그 가운데 남을 것이기 때문이라.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22 그러나 사악한 자들은 땅에서 끊어질 것이요, 불법자들은 그곳에서 뿌리 뽑히리라.
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
