1 물이 흐르는 강들같이 왕의 마음은 주의 손안에 있도다. 그분께서는 자신이 원하시는 곳 어디든지 그것을 돌이키시느니라.
1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 사람의 모든 길은 저마다 자기 자신의 두 눈에 옳으니라. 그러나 주께서는 마음들을 심사하시느니라.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3 정의와 공의를 행하는 것이 희생 제물보다 주께 더 기꺼이 받아들여질 만하니라.
3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 거만한 시선과 교만한 마음과 사악한 자들의 쟁기질은 죄니라.
4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5 부지런한 자의 생각들은 오직 풍요함에 이를 뿐이라. 그러나 성급한 모든 자가 저마다 생각하는 것들은 오직 궁핍에 이를 뿐이라.
5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6 거짓말하는 혀로 보물들을 얻는 것은 죽음을 찾는 자들에게서 이리저리 던져지는 헛된 것이라.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 사악한 자들의 강탈은 그들을 멸망시키느니라. 이는 그들이 공의를 행하는 것을 거부하기 때문이라.
7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 사람의 길은 왜곡되어 있고 이상하니라. 그러나 순수한 자로 말하자면, 그의 행위는 옳으니라.
8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9 넓은 집 안에서 말싸움하는 여자와 함께 있는 것보다 옥상의 모퉁이에 거하는 것이 나으니라.
9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 사악한 자의 혼은 악을 열망하느니라. 그의 이웃은 그의 두 눈에서 호의를 전혀 발견하지 못하느니라.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 경멸하는 자가 형벌을 받을 때 우매한 자는 지혜롭게 되느니라. 그리고 지혜로운 자가 훈계를 받을 때 그는 지식을 받느니라.
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 의로운 사람은 사악한 자의 집을 지혜롭게 숙고하느니라. 그러나 하나님께서는 사악한 자들을 그들의 사악함으로 인하여 뒤집어엎으시느니라.
12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
13 누구나 가난한 자의 부르짖음에 그의 두 귀를 틀어막는다면, 그 자신도 부르짖을 것이나 그 부르짖음이 들리지 않으리라.
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 은밀한 선물은 분노를 누그러뜨리느니라. 그리고 품속에 있는 보상은 거센 진노를 누그러뜨리느니라.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 공의를 행하는 것이 의인에게는 즐거움이라. 그러나 죄악의 일꾼들에게는 멸망이 있으리라.
15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16 명철의 길에서 떠나 방황하는 사람은 죽은 자들의 회중 가운데 남으리라.
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 쾌락을 사랑하는 자는 가난한 사람이 되리라. 술과 기름을 사랑하는 자는 부유하게 되지 못하리라.
17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 사악한 자는 의로운 자를 위한 속량 값이 될 것이요, 불법자는 올바른 자들을 위한 속량 값이 되리라.
18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 다투기를 좋아하며 분노하는 여자와 함께 있는 것보다 광야 가운데 거하는 것이 더 나으니라.
19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 지혜로운 자의 거주지 안에는 탐날 만한 보물과 기름이 있느니라. 그러나 어리석은 사람은 그것을 탕진하느니라.
20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 의와 자비를 뒤따르는 자는 생명과 의와 영예를 발견하느니라.
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 지혜로운 사람은 막강한 자의 도시에 올라가서 그것이 확신하는 힘을 무너뜨리느니라.
22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 자기 입과 자기 혀를 지키는 자는 누구나 자기 혼을 곤경들로부터 지키느니라.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 교만한 진노 가운데서 처신하는 자의 이름은 교만하고 거만하게 경멸하는 자니라.
24 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 게으른 자의 욕망이 그를 죽이느니라. 이는 그의 두 손이 수고하기를 거부하기 때문이라.
25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 그는 하루 온종일 게걸스럽게 탐내느니라. 그러나 의로운 자는 베풀며 아끼지 아니하느니라.
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 사악한 자들의 희생 제물은 가증함이라. 하물며 그가 사악한 생각으로 그것을 가져올 때는 얼마나 더 가증하겠느냐?
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 거짓 증인은 멸망하리라. 그러나 듣는 사람은 굳건하게 말하느니라.
28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 사악한 사람은 자기 얼굴을 완악하게 하느니라. 그러나 올바른 자로 말하자면, 그는 자신의 길을 인도하느니라.
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
30 주를 대적할 지혜나 명철이나 계획이 전혀 없느니라.
30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 전투의 날을 대비하여 말이 예비되느니라. 그러나 안전은 주께 속하느니라.
31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
