1 만일 너희 가운데 어떤 예언자나, 꿈들을 꾸는 어떤 꿈쟁이가 일어나서 어떤 표적이나 어떤 이적을 너에게 보여 주고,
1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
2 그가 너에게 이야기한 그 표적이나 이적이 일어나고 그가 말하기를, ‘네가 모르는 다른 신들을 우리가 좇아가자. 그리고 우리가 그들을 섬기자.’ 한다면,
2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
3 너는 그 예언자의 말들이나 꿈들을 꾸는 그 꿈쟁이의 말들에 경청하지 말지니라. 이는 주 너희 하나님께서는 너희가 너희 마음을 다하고 너희 혼을 다하여 주 너희 하나님을 사랑하는지 너희를 입증해 보시기 때문이라.
3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 너희는 주 너희 하나님을 따라 살아가고 그분을 두려워하며 그분의 명령들을 지키고 그분의 음성에 순종할지니라. 그리고 너희는 그분을 섬기고 그분께 밀착할지니라.
4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
5 그리고 그 예언자나 꿈들을 꾸는 그 꿈쟁이는 사형에 처해져야 하리라. 이는 그가 이집트 지역에서 너희를 데리고 나오시고 속박의 집에서 너희를 구속하신 주 너희 하나님으로부터 너희를 돌아서게 하려고 이야기한 것이기 때문이요, 또 주 너의 하나님께서 너에게 그 가운데 살아가라고 명령하신 그 길에서 너를 밀어내려고 한 것이기 때문이라. 그렇게 하여 너는 악을 너의 한가운데서 치워 버릴지니라.
5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
6 ¶ 만일 너의 어머니의 아들인 너의 형제나 너의 아들이나 너의 딸이나 너의 품의 아내나 너 자신의 혼과 같은 너의 친구가 몰래 너를 유혹하며 말하기를, ‘우리가 가서 너도 모르고 너의 조상들도 몰랐던 다른 신들을 섬기자.
6 ¶ If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
7 즉, 너에게서 가깝든지, 너에게서 멀든지, 땅의 한 끝에서부터 땅의 다른 끝에 이르기까지 너희 주위에 있는 백성의 신들을 섬기자.’ 한다면
7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
8 너는 그에게 동조하지도 말고 그에게 경청하지도 말지니라. 너의 눈은 그를 동정하지도 말고, 너는 그를 봐주지도 말며, 너는 그를 은닉해 주지도 말지니라.
8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
9 다만 너는 반드시 그를 죽일지니라. 네가 먼저 그에게 손을 대어 그를 사형에 처하게 할지니, 그러고 난 후에는 모든 백성이 손을 댈지니라.
9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
10 그리하여 너는 그를 돌들로 쳐서 그로 하여금 죽게 할지니라. 이는 그가 이집트 지역에서, 곧 속박의 집에서 너를 데리고 나오신 주 너의 하나님으로부터 너를 밀어내려 한 까닭이라.
10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
11 그리하면 온 이스라엘이 듣고 두려워할 것이요, 너희 가운데서 더 이상 이와 같은 어떠한 사악함도 행하지 아니하리라.
11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.
12 ¶ 만일 주 너의 하나님께서 거기에 거하라고 너에게 주신 너의 도시들 중 한 곳에서 말하는 것을 네가 듣는다면, 곧 그들이 말하기를,
12 ¶ If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,
13 ‘너희 가운데서 어떤 사람들, 곧 벨리알의 자식들이 나가서 그들의 도시의 거주자들을 끌어내며 말하기를, ‘우리가 가서 너희가 몰랐던 다른 신들을 섬기자.’ 하는도다.’ 한다면,
13 Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;
14 그때 너는 조사하고 찾아보며 부지런히 물어보라. 그런데 보라, 만일 그것이 사실이고 그러한 가증함이 너희 가운데서 벌어진 것이 명확하다면,
14 Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you;
15 너는 반드시 그 도시의 거주자들을 칼날로 치고 그곳과 그 안에 있는 모든 것과 그곳의 가축들을 칼날로 모조리 멸할지니라.
15 Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
16 그리하여 너는 주 너의 하나님을 위하여 그곳의 노획물을 그곳의 거리 한복판에 모두 모을지니, 그 도시를 불로 태우고 그곳의 노획물을 속속들이 다 모을지니라. 그리하면 그곳이 영원토록 한 무더기가 되리니, 그곳은 다시 건축되지 아니하리라.
16 And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
17 그런즉 저주받은 것 중 어떤 것도 너의 손에 붙어 있는 일이 없도록 할지니, 주께서 친히 너의 조상들에게 맹세하신 대로 그분의 분노의 맹렬함에서 돌이키시고 너에게 자비를 보이시며 너의 위에 연민을 두시고 너를 번성케 하시게 하려는 것이라.
17 And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;
18 곧, 네가 주 너의 하나님의 음성에 경청하여 내가 이날에 너에게 명령하는 그분의 모든 명령들을 지키고 주 너의 하나님의 눈들에 옳은 것을 행할 때, 그리하시리라.
18 When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.
