1 이스라엘은 한 그루의 열매 없는 포도나무요, 그는 자신을 위해 열매를 내느니라. 그의 열매의 허다함에 따라 그가 제단들을 늘렸도다. 그의 토지의 좋은 것에 따라 그들은 보기 좋은 형상들을 만들었도다.
1 Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.
2 그들의 마음은 나뉘었도다. 이제 그들은 잘못이 있는 자로 발견되리라. 그분께서 그들의 제단들을 헐 것이요, 그분께서 그들의 형상들을 망치시리라.
2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
3 이는 이제 이스라엘이 말하기를, “우리가 주를 두려워하지 아니한 까닭에 우리에게는 왕이 없도다. 그렇다면 왕이 우리에게 무엇을 하겠느냐?” 할 것이기 때문이라.
3 For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?
4 그들이 언약을 맺는 일에 있어서 거짓되이 맹세함으로써 말들을 내뱉었도다. 따라서 심판이 밭고랑들 속 독초같이 돋아나리라.
4 They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.
5 사마리아의 거주자들이 벧아웬의 송아지들로 인하여 두려워하리라. 이는 그곳의 백성이 그곳을 두고 애곡할 것이기 때문이라. 그리고 그곳의 영광으로 인하여 그곳을 두고 크게 기뻐하던 그곳의 제사장들이 애곡하리니, 영광이 그곳으로부터 떠난 까닭이라.
5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
6 그것 또한 아시리아로 옮겨져서 야렙왕에게 증여물이 되리라. 에프라임은 수치를 받을 것이요, 이스라엘은 자기 자신의 계책을 부끄러워하리라.
6 It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
7 사마리아로 말하자면, 그녀의 왕은 물 위에 있는 거품같이 끊어졌도다.
7 As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.
8 이스라엘의 죄, 아웬의 높은 처소들 역시 파괴되리라. 가시나무와 엉겅퀴들이 그것들의 제단 위에서 올라오리라. 그리하여 그들이 산들에게 말하기를, “우리를 덮치라.” 할 것이요, 언덕들에게 말하기를, “우리 위로 무너지라.” 하리라.
8 The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
9 오, 이스라엘아, 너는 기브아의 날들부터 죄를 지었도다. 그들은 거기에 서 있었도다. 죄악의 후손들을 대적하는 기브아 전투가 그들에게 엄습하지 못하였도다.
9 O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.
10 내가 열망하는 바는 내가 그들을 징계하는 것이라. 그런즉 그들이 그들의 두 고랑들에서 자신의 몸을 묶을 때 백성들이 그들을 대적하여 모이리라.
10 It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.
11 그리고 에프라임은 마치 길든 암송아지 같아서 곡식을 밟아 다지기를 사랑하는도다. 그러나 내가 그녀의 어여쁜 목 위를 넘어갔도다. 나는 에프라임을 탈것으로 만들겠노라. 유다는 밭을 갈 것이요, 야곱은 그의 흙덩이들을 깨리라.
11 And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.
12 너희 자신에게 의 안에서 뿌리고 자비 안에서 거두라. 너희의 묵은 토양을 깨부수라. 이는 지금이 주를 찾을 때이기 때문이니, 곧 그분이 오셔서 너희 위에 의를 비처럼 내릴 때까지라.
12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
13 너희는 사악함을 일구었고, 너희는 죄악을 거두었도다. 너희는 거짓말들의 열매를 먹었도다. 이는 네가 너의 길을 신뢰하였고 너의 막강한 남자들의 허다한 수를 신뢰한 까닭이라.
13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
14 그러므로 너의 백성 가운데서 소란이 일어날 것이요, 마치 전투의 날에 샬만이 벧아벨을 약탈한 것과 같이 너의 견고한 요새들도 모두 약탈 당하리라. 그 어머니는 그녀의 자식들 위에서 내리침을 당하여 산산조각 났도다.
14 Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.
15 너희의 막심한 사악함으로 인하여 벧엘이 너희에게 그와 같이 행하리라. 이스라엘의 왕은 하루 아침에 철저하게 끊어지리라.
15 So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
