1 내가 이스라엘을 치유하려고 하였던 그때 에프라임의 죄악과 사마리아의 사악함이 드러났도다. 이는 그들이 거짓을 저지르기 때문이라. 그런즉 도둑이 안으로 들어오고 강도떼들이 바깥에서 약탈하는도다.
1 When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.
2 그리고 그들은 내가 그들의 모든 사악함을 기억하는 것을 그들의 마음속으로 숙고하지 아니하는도다. 이제 그들 자신의 처신들이 그들을 에워싸느니라. 그들은 나의 얼굴 앞에 있느니라.
2 And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.
3 그들은 자신들의 사악함으로 왕을 흡족하게 하고, 자신들의 거짓말들로 통치자들을 흡족하게 하느니라.
3 They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.
4 그들은 모두 간음하는 자들이니, 마치 제빵사가 달군 화덕 같도다. 그가 빵 반죽을 치대고 나서 반죽이 부풀어 오르게 하는 일을 중단해버리니, 곧 그것이 발효될 때까지라.
4 They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.
5 우리 왕의 날에는 통치자들이 포도주 부대들로 그를 병들게 하였도다. 그는 경멸하는 자들과 함께 자기 손을 뻗었도다.
5 In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.
6 이는 그들이 숨어서 기다리는 동안 그들이 자신들의 마음을 화덕처럼 준비하였기 때문이라. 그들의 제빵사는 밤새 자는도다. 아침에 그것은 활활 타오르는 불같이 작열하는도다.
6 For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.
7 그들은 화덕같이 전부 달궈졌고 자신들의 판관들을 집어삼켰도다. 그들의 모든 왕들도 쓰러졌도다. 그들 가운데는 나를 부르는 자가 아무도 없도다.
7 They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
8 에프라임, 그는 백성들 사이에서 스스로를 혼합시켰도다. 에프라임은 뒤집어지지 아니한 둥글납작한 빵이로다.
8 Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.
9 타국인들이 그의 힘을 집어삼켰건만 그는 그것도 모르는도다. 진정 새치들이 그의 위에 여기저기 생겨나건만 여전히 그는 모르는도다.
9 Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.
10 그리하여 이스라엘의 교만이 자신의 얼굴을 향하여 증언하는도다. 그리고 그들은 주 그들의 하나님께 되돌아오지 아니하고 이 모든 것으로도 그를 찾지 아니하는도다.
10 And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.
11 ¶ 에프라임은 또한 마음이 없어서 철이 없는 비둘기 같도다. 그들이 이집트를 부르건만 정작 그들은 아시리아로 가는도다.
11 ¶ Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.
12 그들이 갈 때 내가 나의 그물을 그들 위에 펼치겠노라. 내가 그들을 하늘의 날짐승들같이 떨어뜨리겠노라. 내가 그들의 회중이 들은 대로 그들을 징계하겠노라.
12 When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.
13 그들에게 화가 있기를 바라노라! 이는 그들이 나에게서 도망쳤기 때문이라. 멸망이 그들에게 있기를 바라노라! 이는 그들이 나를 대적하여 불법을 행한 까닭이라. 내가 그들을 구속하였는데도 여전히 그들은 나를 대적하여 거짓말들을 내뱉는도다.
13 Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.
14 그리고 그들이 자신들의 침상 위에서 울부짖을 때도 그들은 자신들의 마음으로 나에게 부르짖지 아니하였도다. 그들은 곡식과 포도즙을 위하여 자신들을 결집시키면서도 그들은 나를 대적하여 반역하는도다.
14 And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.
15 내가 그들의 팔을 감싸 힘 있게 하였는데도 여전히 그들은 나를 대적하여 해로움을 구상하는도다.
15 Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.
16 그들은 되돌아오나 지극히 높은 이에게 돌아오지는 아니하는도다. 그들은 속임수로 가득한 활과 같도다. 그들의 통치자들은 자신들의 혀의 분개함 때문에 칼에 의하여 쓰러지리라. 이것은 이집트 지역에서 그들을 비웃는 웃음거리가 되리라.
16 They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
