1 너희, 이스라엘 자녀들아, 주의 말씀을 들으라. 이는 그 지역에 진리도 없고 자비도 없고 하나님을 아는 지식도 없는 까닭에 주께서 그 지역의 거주자들과 논란을 벌이실 것이기 때문이라.
1 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
2 맹세하는 것과 거짓말하는 것과 사람을 죽이는 것과 도둑질하는 것과 간음하는 것이 그들에게서 터져 나오나니, 피가 피에 닿는도다.
2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
3 그러므로 그 지역이 애곡할 것이요, 들의 짐승들과 하늘의 날짐승들과 더불어 그 안에 거하는 모든 자가 저마다 쇠약해지리라. 진정 바다의 물고기들도 제거되리라.
3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
4 그렇지만 분쟁하거나 다른 이를 책망하는 사람이 없게 하라. 이는 너의 백성이 제사장과 분쟁하는 자들 같기 때문이라.
4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.
5 그러므로 너는 낮에 쓰러질 것이요, 예언자 역시 밤에 너와 함께 쓰러지리라. 그리고 내가 너의 어머니를 멸망시키겠노라.
5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.
6 ¶ 나의 백성이 지식의 부족으로 멸망하는도다. 네가 지식을 거절한 까닭에 나도 너를 거절하여 네가 나에게 제사장이 되지 못하게 하겠노라. 네가 너의 하나님의 율법을 잊어버렸기에 나도 너의 자녀들을 잊어버리겠노라.
6 ¶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
7 그들이 융성하였던 것처럼 그만큼 그들은 나를 대적하여 죄를 지었도다. 그러므로 내가 그들의 영광을 수치로 바꾸겠노라.
7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
8 그들은 나의 백성의 죄를 먹어 치우나니, 그들은 자신들의 마음을 그들의 죄악에 두느니라.
8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
9 그런즉 그 백성에 그 제사장이 되리라. 그리고 내가 그들의 길들로 인하여 그들에게 형벌을 내리고 그들이 행하는 것들로 인하여 그들에게 보응하겠노라.
9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.
10 이는 그들이 먹어도 충분하지 아니할 것이기 때문이라. 그들은 행음을 저지를 것이나 융성하지 못하리라. 이는 그들이 주께 주의를 기울이는 것을 그만두었기 때문이라.
10 For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.
11 행음과 포도주와 새 포도즙이 마음을 빼앗아 가는도다.
11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
12 ¶ 나의 백성이 그들의 통나무들에 조언을 구하나니, 그들의 지팡이가 그들에게 선언하는도다. 이는 행음들의 영이 그들로 하여금 잘못을 범하게 하였고, 그들은 자신들의 하나님 아래에서 떠나 행음하러 다녔기 때문이라.
12 ¶ My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
13 그들이 산들의 꼭대기들 위에서 희생 제물을 드리고, 언덕들 위에서 향을 태우나니, 상수리나무들과 포플러나무들과 느릅나무들 아래에서 그리하는도다. 이는 그것의 그림자가 좋기 때문이라. 그러므로 너희의 딸들은 행음을 저지를 것이요, 너희의 반려자들은 간음을 저지르리라.
13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
14 너희 딸들이 행음을 저지를 때도 내가 그들에게 형벌을 내리지 아니하겠으며, 너희 반려자들이 간음할 때도 그들에게 형벌을 내리지 아니하겠노라. 이는 그들 스스로가 매춘부들과 함께 구별되었고, 그들이 창녀들과 함께 희생 제물을 바치기 때문이라. 그러므로 이해하지 아니하는 백성은 쓰러지리라.
14 I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.
15 ¶ 이스라엘아, 비록 너는 창녀 짓을 할지라도 유다까지 실족하게 하지 말라. 그리고 너희는 길갈로 가지 말고, 너희는 벧아웬으로 올라가지도 말며, ‘주께서 살아 계시는도다.’ 하고 맹세하지도 말라.
15 ¶ Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.
16 이는 이스라엘이 뒷걸음질하는 암송아지같이 퇴보하기 때문이라. 이제 주가 그들을 먹이겠으니, 넓은 장소에 있는 어린양같이 먹이리라.
16 For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
17 에프라임은 우상들과 결합되었으니, 그를 내버려 두라.
17 Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.
18 그들의 음료는 시큼하도다. 그들은 지속적으로 행음을 저질렀도다. 수치스럽게도 그녀의 치리자들은 ‘너희는 내놓으라.’ 하고 말하기를 좋아하는도다.
18 Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
19 바람이 그녀의 날개들로 그녀를 싸매었으니, 그들은 자신들의 희생 제물들로 인하여 부끄러워하리라.
19 The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
