1 이윽고 아브넬이 헤브론에서 죽었다는 것을 사울의 아들이 들었을 때 그의 두 손이 나약해졌고 모든 이스라엘인들이 근심하였더라.
1 And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
2 그리고 사울의 아들에게는 부대들의 대장들인 두 남자들이 있었더라. 한 명의 이름은 바아나흐였고, 다른 한 명의 이름은 레캅이었으니, 브에롯족인 림몬의 아들들이자 베냐민 자녀들에 속하였더라. (이는 브에롯도 베냐민으로 간주되었기 때문이라.
2 And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin:
3 또한 브에롯족들이 깃타임으로 도망쳐 오늘날까지 그곳의 체류자들이 되었더라.)
3 And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)
4 그리고 사울의 아들 요나단에게는 자신의 두 발을 저는 아들 한 명이 있었는데 이즈르엘에서 사울과 요나단의 소식들이 왔을 때 그는 다섯 살이었고 그의 보모가 그를 들쳐업고 도망하였더라. 그러다가 그녀가 서둘러 도망하는 동안 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 떨어져 발을 절게 되었더라. 그리고 그의 이름은 므피보솃이었더라.
4 And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
5 그런데 브에롯족인 림몬의 아들들인 레캅과 바아나흐가 가서 한낮의 더위가 한창일 무렵에 이슈보솃의 집에 도착하였으니, 그는 정오에 침상 위에 누워 있었더라.
5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
6 그리고 그들은 마치 자신들이 밀을 집어 가려는 것처럼 하여 거기 그 집 한가운데로 들어왔더라. 그러고는 그들이 그의 다섯 번째 갈비뼈 아래를 쳤더라. 그런 다음에 레캅과 그의 형제 바아나흐가 탈출하였더라.
6 And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
7 이는 그들이 그 집 안으로 들어왔을 때 그가 그의 침소 안에 있는 그의 침상 위에 누워 있었으니, 그들이 그를 쳐서 그를 살해하였으며 그의 머리를 베고 그의 머리를 가져가 밤새 평야를 가로질러 도주하였더라.
7 For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.
8 그리고 그들이 이슈보솃의 머리를 헤브론에 있는 다윗에게 가져와 왕에게 말하기를, “당신의 생명을 찾던 당신의 원수 사울의 아들인 이슈보솃의 머리를 보소서. 그런즉 주께서 사울과 그의 씨에게 이날 내 주 왕의 복수를 하셨나이다.” 하였더라.
8 And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
9 ¶ 그러자 다윗이 브에롯족인 림몬의 아들들인 레캅과 그의 형제 바아나흐에게 응답하여 그들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “모든 역경에서 나의 혼을 구속하신 주께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니,
9 ¶ And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
10 누군가 나에게 알리며 좋은 소식들을 가져왔다고 생각하고 말하기를, ‘보소서, 사울이 죽었나이다.’ 하였을 때 내가 그에게 자신의 소식들에 대한 어떤 보상을 줄 것이라고 생각하였던 그를 내가 붙잡고 그를 지클락에서 살해하였거늘
10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
11 하물며 사악한 남자들이 자기 자신의 집 안에서 자신의 침상 위에 있던 한 의로운 개인을 살해하였을 때는 얼마나 더하겠느냐? 그러므로 이제 내가 너희 손에서 그의 피를 요구하고 너희를 땅에서 제거하지 아니하겠느냐?”
11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
12 이어서 다윗이 그의 청년들에게 명령하였으니, 그들이 그들을 살해하여 그들의 손과 그들의 발을 잘라 내고 그들을 헤브론에 있는 못 위에 매달았더라. 반면에 그들이 이슈보솃의 머리를 취하여 그것을 헤브론에 있는 아브넬의 돌무덤 안에 장사하였더라.
12 And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
