1 여자에게서 태어난 사람은 얼마 되지 않는 날들에 속하면서도 곤경으로 가득 찼나이다.
1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
2 그는 꽃처럼 나오나 꺾여 떨어지나이다. 또한 그는 그림자같이 달아나나 지속하지 못하나이다.
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
3 그런데 당신께서 그러한 사람 위에 당신의 눈들을 열어 두시고 저를 당신과 함께 심판으로 데려오시나이까?
3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
4 누가 불결한 것에서 정결한 것을 가져올 수 있나이까? 한 사람도 없나이다.
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
5 그의 날들이 확정되어 있는 것으로 보아 그의 달들의 수가 당신과 함께 있나니, 친히 그가 넘을 수 없는 그의 한계선들을 정하셨나이다.
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
6 그가 삯꾼처럼 그의 날을 다 보낼 때까지 그가 안식할 수 있도록 그에게서 돌아서 주소서.
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
7 이는 나무에게도 소망이 있기 때문이니, 만일 그것이 베어 쓰러진다 하여도 그것이 다시 움이 돋을 것이요, 그것의 순한 가지가 그치지 아니할 것이니이다.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
8 그것의 뿌리가 땅에서 늙고 그것의 원줄기가 토양에서 죽는다 하더라도
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
9 그럼에도 물의 향취를 통하여 그것이 싹트고, 초목처럼 원가지들이 나오리라.
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
10 그러나 사람은 죽어서 사라져 버리나이다. 진정 사람이 숨을 거둔 다음에 그가 어디 있나이까?
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
11 물들이 바다에서 고갈되고 하천이 줄어들어 말라 버리는 것같이
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
12 이처럼 사람은 누운 뒤에 일어나지 못하는도다. 하늘들이 더 이상 존재하지 아니할 때까지 그들은 깨어나지 못할 것이요, 그들의 잠에서 일어나지도 못하리라.
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
13 오, 당신께서 저를 음부 속에 감추신다면, 당신의 진노가 지나갈 때까지 친히 저를 덮어 두신다면, 당신께서 저에게 정해진 시기를 지정하시고 저를 기억해 주신다면 좋겠나이다!
13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
14 만일 사람이 죽는다면 그가 다시 살겠나이까? 저의 변화가 올 때까지 저의 지정된 시간에 속한 모든 날들을 제가 기다리겠나이다.
14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
15 당신께서 부르실 것이요, 저는 당신께 대답하겠나이다. 당신께서는 당신의 두 손으로 지으신 것에 열망을 지니실 것이니이다.
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
16 이는 지금 당신께서 저의 걸음들을 계수하고 계시기 때문이니이다. 당신께서 저의 죄를 감시하고 계시지 아니하나이까?
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
17 저의 불법이 가방 속에 완전히 봉해지나니, 당신께서 저의 죄악을 완전히 꿰매시나이다.
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
18 그런즉 산이 반드시 무너져서 무로 돌아가고 바위가 그의 위치에서 밖으로 옮겨지나이다.
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
19 물들은 돌들을 닳게 하나이다. 당신께서 땅의 진토에서 자라는 것들을 씻어 버리시나이다. 그리하여 친히 사람의 소망을 멸하시나이다.
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
20 당신께서 그를 계속하여 영원토록 제압하시나니 그가 사라지나이다. 당신께서 그의 용모를 바꾸시고 그를 멀리 보내시나이다.
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
21 그의 아들들이 존귀에 이르러도 그가 그것을 모르나이다. 그리고 그들이 낮아짐에 처해 있으나 그는 그들에 관하여 그것을 알아차리지 못하나이다.
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
22 그러나 그의 위에 있는 그의 살이 통증을 느낄 것이요, 그의 안에 있는 그의 혼이 애곡하리이다.”
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
