1 또 하나님의 아들들이 주 앞에 자신들을 나타내기 위해 왔던 날이 있었는데 사탄도 주 앞에 자신의 모습을 나타내려고 그들 가운데 왔더라.
1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
2 그러자 주께서 사탄에게 말씀하시기를, “네가 어디서 오느냐?” 하셨느니라. 이에 사탄이 주께 대답하여 말씀드리기를, “땅에서 이리저리 다니고 거기서 위아래로 거닐다가 왔나이다.” 하였더라.
2 And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
3 그러자 주께서 사탄에게 말씀하시기를, “너는 나의 종 욥을 숙고해 보았느냐? 그는 완전하고 올바른 사람이요, 하나님을 두려워하고 악을 기피하는 자로서 땅에는 그와 같은 자가 아무도 없느니라. 그런즉 비록 네가 그를 대적하여 나를 움직여 그를 까닭 없이 멸하려 하였을지라도 그는 여전히 그의 온전함을 고수하고 있느니라.” 하셨느니라.
3 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
4 이에 사탄이 주께 대답하여 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “피부에는 피부이오니, 진정 사람은 자신의 생명을 위하여 자신이 가진 모든 것을 줄 것이니이다.
4 And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
5 그러나 이제 당신의 손을 내밀어 그의 뼈와 그의 살에 손을 대소서. 그리하시면 그가 당신의 얼굴에 대고 당신을 저주할 것이니이다.”
5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.
6 그러자 주께서 사탄에게 말씀하시기를, “보라, 그가 너의 손안에 있느니라. 그러나 그의 생명은 남겨 둘지니라.” 하셨느니라.
6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.
7 ¶ 그렇게 하여 사탄이 주의 면전에서 물러나 밖으로 나갔고 그의 발바닥부터 그의 정수리까지 심한 종기들로 욥을 쳤더라.
7 ¶ So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
8 그리하여 그가 질그릇 조각을 자신에게로 취하여 자신의 온몸을 긁었더라. 그리고 그가 재들 가운데 앉았더라.
8 And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.
9 ¶ 그때 그의 아내가 그에게 말하기를, “ 당신은 아직도 당신의 온전함을 간직하고 있는가? 하나님을 저주하고 죽으라.” 하였더라.
9 ¶ Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
10 그러나 그가 그녀에게 말하기를, “당신은 어리석은 여자들 중 하나가 말하듯이 말하는도다. 무슨 소린가? 우리가 하나님의 손에서 선을 받는다면 우리가 해악도 받아야 하지 않겠느냐?” 하였더라. 이 모든 것에 있어서 욥이 자신의 입술로 죄를 짓지 아니하였더라.
10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
11 ¶ 이제 욥의 세 친구들이 그에게 임한 이 모든 해악에 관하여 들었을 때 그들이 모두 저마다 자기 자신의 처소에서 왔으니, 테만족 엘리파즈와 슈아족 빌닷과 나아맛족 조팔이라. 이는 그들이 약속을 하여 그와 함께 애곡하고 그를 위로하기 위해 함께 왔기 때문이라.
11 ¶ Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.
12 그리고 그들이 멀리 떨어져 자신들의 눈을 들어 올렸는데도 그를 몰라 보자 그들은 자신들의 음성을 높여 울었더라. 그리고 그들이 모두 저마다 자신의 덧옷을 찢고 하늘을 향하여 그들의 머리 위에 티끌을 뿌렸더라.
12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.
13 이처럼 그들이 그와 함께 땅바닥 위에 주저앉아 칠 일 낮과 칠 일 밤을 있었으며, 그에게 한 마디도 하는 이가 없었더라. 이는 그들이 그의 비통함이 몹시 심한 것을 보았기 때문이라.
13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.
