1 엘리후가 더욱이 이같이 일러 말하였더라.
1 Elihu spake moreover, and said,
2 “당신이 말하기를, ‘나의 의가 하나님의 의보다 더 크도다.’ 하였던 이 말이 당신은 옳다고 생각하시나이까?
2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?
3 이는 당신이 말하기를, ‘만일 내가 나의 죄에서 정결하게 된다 해도 그것이 당신께 무슨 이로움이 되겠나이까? 또 제가 무슨 유익을 얻겠나이까?’ 하였기 때문이니이다.
3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
4 내가 당신에게 답하고, 당신 곁에 있는 당신의 벗들에게 답하겠나이다.
4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
5 하늘들을 바라보고 또 살펴보소서. 그리하여 당신보다 더 높은 구름들을 보소서.
5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
6 설령 당신이 죄를 짓는다 한들, 그분을 대적하여 당신이 무엇을 하는 것이니이까? 혹은 당신의 불법들이 급증한다 한들, 당신이 그분께 무엇을 하는 것이니이까?
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7 당신이 의롭다 한들, 당신이 그분께 무엇을 드리는 것이니이까? 아니면 그분께서 당신의 손에서 무엇을 받으시는 것이니까?
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
8 당신의 사악함은 당신과 같은 사람을 다치게 할 수 있나이다. 또 당신의 의는 사람의 아들을 유익하게 할 수 있나이다.
8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
9 많은 압제들로 인하여 그것들이 압제받는 자들을 부르짖게 하나이다. 막강한 자로 인하여 그들이 소리를 지르나이다.
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
10 그러나 아무도 이같이 말하지 아니하나이다. ‘나를 만드신 분이신 하나님께서 어디 계시는가? 그분께서 밤중에 노래들을 주시는도다.
10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
11 누가 땅의 짐승들보다 더 우리를 가르치시고, 하늘의 날짐승들보다 더 우리를 지혜롭게 만드시는가?’
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
12 그들이 부르짖고 있으나 아무도 대답해 주지 아니하나이다. 이는 악한 사람들의 교만으로 인함이니이다.
12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13 분명히 하나님께서 헛된 것은 듣지 아니하실 것이요, 또한 전능하신 분께서 그것을 유념하지 아니하실 것이니이다.
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14 비록 당신이 말하기를, 당신이 그분을 보지 못할 것이라고 말할지라도 여전히 심판이 그분 앞에 있나이다. 그러므로 당신은 그분을 신뢰하소서.
14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
15 그러나 지금은 그렇지 아니한 까닭에 그분께서 그분의 분노 가운데 벌하셨나이다. 그럼에도 그는 그것을 아주 극단까지는 모르나이다.
15 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
16 그러므로 욥이 그의 입을 헛되이 여나이다. 그가 지식 없이 말들을 크게 늘리나이다.”
16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
